ESPN explains the Bucs’ interest

The rumors won’t stop flying no matter how much the haters want them to go away. In fact, Joe sees the Johnny Football haters running to Treasure Island to bury their heads in the sand because they don’t want to hear the Bucs may just be interested in Johnny Football.

Whenever the haters hear someone on radio or on NFL Network claiming the Bucs could draft Johnny Football, they put their fingers in their ears and start hollering to no one in particular, “LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA… “

Joe is convinced the haters, if Roger Goodell announced next Thursday the Bucs have drafted Johnny Football, would immediately run out into traffic and try to tackle a moving milk truck.

In this BSPN video, Ed Werder explains exactly why Bucs coach Lovie Smith would want Johnny Football. Enjoy.

  1. Jason Says:

I hope to god the bucs take Manziel, all these people that think they are GMs should just be quiet, we don’t need a WR at no. 7, we definitely don’t need OL at 7. Go with the pick that can change a franchise. Draft OL and WR in later rounds. Defense looks ok maybe draft some DEs and DT for depth, hopefully clayborn and Bowers bounce back this year under the WORLD FAMOUS TAMPA 2

  2. Phillip Says:

You should end each JF post with cue the hate comments in 3…2…1…

Heck you can do that with Dominik too or any EX BUC players….

    Hate Hate Hate Hate

  3. lightningbuc Says:

radio or on NFL Network claiming the Bucs could draft Johnny Football,

Of course they “could”. Just curious, but are there any draft eligible players the Bucs could NOT draft?

  4. Brandon Says:

I definitely prefer Bridgewater, even POSSIBLY Bortles, and definitely Brett Smith of Wyoming in round 3…but if we took Manziel I have faith that Tedford and Smith know what they’re doing and they are doing the right thing and will hope for the best.

So far I like all of their moves and that alone should give them the benefit of the doubt. I’m not high, however, at all, as Evans as a top 10 pick. People compare him to a faster Vincent Jackson…. Jackson ran his official 40 at the Combine at 4.46 at 241 lbs. Evans ran his at 4.53. I’d say at this point, as much criticism Jackson gets for being slow, Evans is just as slow.

  5. Phillip Says:

    Rnd 1 – Manziel/Bortles/Carr
    Rnd 2 – Jordan Matthews
    Rnd 3 – Yankey
Rnd 4 – Gabe Jackson/Brandon Thomas (I’m convinced we make some kind of trade and get back into the 4th or another late 3rd)
    Rnd 5 – Michael Schofield
    Rnd 6 – Jeremy Gallon
    Rnd 7 – Denicos Allen/Kevin Pierre-Louis

  6. Oil Derrick Brooks Says:

I like a lot of former Bucs players. I just have no love for the malcontents and criminals.

I’m sure Dominik is a fine family man. Just terribly overrated in these parts.

On the opposite of the hater comment. I find it interesting how emotionally invested people are in players. It’s one thing if we are talking about proven perennial winners (Brooks, Lynch, etc.). But, I see people totally tied to former players who never really have won anything at all. See: Josh Freeman, Mike Williams.

I root for Buccaneers. Especially ones who want to be here. If you were on hand for a bunch of losses? See you later, but, I won’t be lamenting your loss. I certainly won’t be pining for guys like that months later.

  7. BirdDoggers Says:

Manziel will likely be off the board before the Bucs pick. Too many QB needy teams picking in front of the Bucs and someone could always trade up in front of the Bucs to get him. I don’t buy all the speculation that Manziel will fall in the draft. Teams always seem willing to overdraft QBs. The Bucs could trade up, but with a lack of picks this year it seems unlikely. Of course all the Manziel talk could just be an effort by the Bucs to push the player they really want down the board.

  8. bucrightoff Says:

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner!

  9. Buc1987 Says:

Some of the haters Joe created with his barrage of articles. IMO

  10. Bruce Says:

I don’t think anybody hates JM, I just think people feel that Glennon is being unfairly treated considering how awful the rest of the Bucs offense performed last year. If JM is drafted I think his detractors will accept it and move on without calling the suicide hotline. Personally, I don’t think any of these QB’s should be considered 1st rounders and are equal to or less than equal to Glennon’s talent, and would be a wasted pick. But if it happens, and they draft him, I will get behind him. If he bust, and Glennon becomes successful on another team, I will be very upset, and will want my pound of flesh.

  11. Couch Fan Says:

Lol Joe, I thought people over use the word “haters” but yet once again, talking out the other side of your mouth. I guess it only applies if you want to get rid of someone named Glennon.

  12. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Haters?…..Lovers?……I think the large majority of us fall in between……there is a large contingent that simply think that Manziel isn’t the right pick for us….some think we have greater needs, some like other QBs better, some think he will bust…..but we don’t hate him.
Hate is a pretty strong word usually reserved for a very few.

  13. Phillip Says:

That is very true but… Honestly I haven’t seen a prospect with so many top level experts that either think he is gonna stink it up at the next level or become an elite player which makes him so interesting… Tebow was close but I don’t think anyone truly thought he would become a great passer

  14. FLBoyInDallas Says:

Imprisoning and torturing someone for their beliefs is hate. Denying someone the freedom to walk down the street in a certain part of town just because of their skin color is hate. Attacking others simply because they are different from you is hate.

Not liking a particular football player and/or not wanting your favorite team to draft him is not hate. Stop exaggerating. This is sports…not life. Big difference.

  15. lightningbuc Says:

I try to reserve my “hate” for child rapists, murderers, Al Qaeda – things of that nature – not the likes of John Manziel. Besides, I’m sure he’ll make a good backup.

  16. bucrightoff Says:

Phillip I think the JaMarcus range was similar to Johnny. Not that I’m saying he’s JaMarcus, but JaMarcus’s range was pretty much total bust to elite QB from many scouts. Of course once the Raiders took him it was obvious what his path would be. Johnny might get the same fate to Oakland too.

Tebow was considered a project from day 1, who had potential but most people thought he needed a lot of time and work to become a true NFL QB. Instead McDaniels was enamored with him and that was that. And his maniac fans demanded he play which must have been annoying.

  17. Buc1987 Says:

Phillip….which makes him an enigma. Which is the same thing I used to call Freeman for years. Not saying he’s the next Freeman or anything like that. I’m just saying that word fits the bill.

@Joe if you eat PB&J sandwiches every day eventually you’re going to “hate” them.

    Manziel = PB&J

I’m sure Joe already has the peanut butter and jelly out already ready to make us another one for tomorrow or perhaps for dinner later on today.

  18. Phillip Says:

I guess people don’t realize/understand that people associate words to a different meaning now… Kinda like saying that’s g@y… Not saying it’s correct just something that happens now…

  19. Phillip Says:

I guess people don’t realize/understand that people associate words to a different meaning now… Kinda like saying that’s g@y… Not saying it’s correct just something that happens now…

  20. Gabby Says:

He wont be there at #7.

  21. Matt Says:

All of these rumors make it less likely to happen. Why would they tell anyone their plans. It only entices someone like the Vikings to want to trade ahead of the bucs. Hope rumors are true though

  22. Buc1987 Says:

Phillip…I have g@y brother in law and I still say stuff like that especially when he’s around.

  23. Phillip Says:

The comments section on this site is weird… You click submit once and it posts twice… Sometimes you post it and it never shows or says awaiting moderation when there isn’t a swear word lol

  24. Oil Derrick Brooks Says:

Accusing people of being jealous of another guys ability to pull also creates “hate”.

Most of the animosity is created, not merely cataloged, by the author. That is but one example.

  25. Stevek Says:

You’re wrong about the number seven lick in this year’s draft. Just like you were wrong about Mo Claibourne.

You also thought Donald Penn was adequate.

Diplomatic view points of our team are helpful.

    BPA at 7:

One of those seven will be a pewter pirate.

  26. Chef Paul Says:

I think Jerruh wants him more. I think Jerruh will give up more for him than most teams would. Jerruh knows the value of a draft pick as much as a 5 year old knows the value of the dollar. I think Manziel is going to be a cowboy.

  27. Buc1987 Says:

But if you only have love for your own race
Then you only leave space to discriminate
And to discriminate only generates hate
And when you hate then you’re bound to get irate, yeah

    -Black Eyed Peas.

  28. Macabee Says:

    Sorry Lightningbuc,

I gotta throw Broccoli in that category too! lol

  29. FLBoyInDallas Says:

I can’t imagine how insufferable this site would become if Joe’s JFF was drafted by the Bucs.

  30. Buc1987 Says:

Chef Paul …they just inked Romo to that fat contract. I thought Jerruh was in love with Romo. Having him call plays and shyte. When you watch Cowboys games it always seems like the rest of the team is sucking up. Romo usually plays pretty decent.

  31. Buc1987 Says:

    FLBoyInDallas…you’re making me cringe.

  32. Oil Derrick Brooks Says:

That’s what I’m counting on. That’s my gameday trade prediction. I’m toying with add McCown and Romo into the trade.

  33. Chef Paul Says:

I think if it was anyone besides Jerruh, or the late Al Davis, Manziel would be out of the question to be drafted by the Cowboys. Besides, I think trading Romo should be a fairly easy task (despite that contract). There are plenty of QB starved teams that would trade for him. When I think their two personalities, I think Jerruh is the type to love Manziel even more than Joe. And Jerruh gets what Jerruh wants.

  34. The_Buc_Realist Says:

yes, that is until he flames out Freeman style!

  35. Buc1987 Says:

ODB…that would just be insane if that becomes true.

  36. Buc1987 Says:

    Chef Paul ….very good points.

  37. Chef Paul Says:

And Jerruh makes plenty of head scratching moves. This would just be another, IMO. No big deal in Jerry world.

Doesnt make sense to you or me, but I think it would make plenty of sense to him.

  38. Phillip Says:

I do it as well(I have a gay cousin) so I don’t understand why people on this comment section are associating the word hate with the actual term it means… Just boggles my mind…

  39. Chris Says:

Joe hate is a strong word. Look at my man FLBOY for a true description. There’s no hate towards Johnny. It’s simply putting that not believing his game translates. I know some diehard A&M and Johnny football fans who feel the same way.

  40. Jacko101 Says:

If the Bucs did grab Johnny it would be some major publicity surrounding Tampa for once.

  41. lightningbuc Says:

I know I’m the exception to the rule, but I actually like broccoli, so it didn’t make my hate list. LOL!

  42. Chef Paul Says:

I’m thinking the Cowboys throw in Romo with a trade for the Texans #1 pick, to get Manziel.

Hey, my predictions are as good as anyone elses, no matter how crazy they sound.

  43. Oil Derrick Brooks Says:

“Doesnt make sense to you or me, but I think it would make plenty of sense to him.”

More importantly it make$ cent$ to Jerruh. He has green Manzielback$ in his eye$.

He’s already shown that winning takes a backseat to what he wants to do.

  44. Oil Derrick Brooks Says:

Absolutely, and it wouldn’t shock me. I haven’t even looked at Romo’s cap #s but, I’m sure Jerruh wouldn’t care.

  45. Buc1987 Says:

“He has green Manzielback$ in his eye$.”

ODB another damn good point. There would probably be a waiting list to get a Manziel jersey if you’re a Boy’s fan. Those suckers would fly off the shelves.

  46. Chef Paul Says:

    Oh yeah! Cap numbers.

If memory serves me correctly, the Cowboys are in cap hell right now (like always). That trade would kill two birds with one stone.

The more I think about it, the more it makes sense.

My buddies and I do mock drafts, and whoever gets the most picks right gets a soda from the others. It’s high stakes gambling for sure. I’m putting that down on my mock. #It’sALock. LOL

  47. bigpoppabuc Says:

Interesting scenario chef Paul. Say Manziel falls to seven… Would you take a cowboy offer for Tony Romo and their first rounder?

  48. Buc1987 Says:

The Cowboys are in cap hell, this is true. This might be a wild and crazy draft and this waiting is becoming worse than a 5 yr old waiting for Christmas. Each day that goes by, I like look at the calendar and say to myself. Almost there.

  49. Buc1987 Says:

bigpoppabuc…I’m not a big Romo fan, but I’d pull that trigger over McCown and an unproven rookie. Hmmmm you guys got me thnking…

  50. Buc1987 Says:

Goodell : “With the 7th pick in the 2014 draft the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have traded with the Dallas Cowboys for QB Tony Romo and Dallas’ 16th pick in the first round.”

Goodell : “With the 7th pick in the 2014 draft the Cowboys select Johnny Manziel QB Texas A&M.”

Suddenly Joe’s eyes well up with tears as he runs for a bottle of Jack.

  51. Jeagan1999 Says:

    Joe’s Johnny Man-lust continues…..

  52. Chef Paul Says:

That’s a tough one. I think at the end of the day though, I would. I know Romo has some baggage, but I dont think he’s nearly as bad as the world would like us to believe.

  53. Eric Says:

We could be doing the ole double smokescreen.

Put out so obvious a smokescreen nobody falls for it, and nobody takes Johnny, then we take Johnny.

  54. lightningbuc Says:

I guess it is possible to smokescreen a smokescreen.

But is it OK to HATE a smokescreened smokescreen?

With all this smoke, we must be in Colorado!

  55. SoonerninTampa Says:

If the Bucs draft JFF…HELLO rebuilding…he will set the franchise back AT LEAST 5 yrs. That is what happens when you waste a top 10 pick on a flash in the pan with a punk attitude

  56. BamBamBuc Says:

Yes, lightningbuc… I live in Colorado and the wildfires the past couple years have left a black cloud of smoke permanently over this state. I’ve never seen so much smoke.

Although, if you’re thinking more about the law changes and thinking we have reggae, ganja smokin’ people dancin’ in da streets and people passing the bong to strangers walking down the street…. that would be incorrect. I don’t smoke the stuff, but have lived here LONG before that law change took effect. Not everyone here smokes it, but not everyone that doesn’t smoke it is opposed to it either. I personally don’t care for it, as I’m a business owner and it tends to lead to unreliable, unmotivated employees… but that’s just me.

  57. WalkdaPlank Says:

Joe sure does like to throw around the word “hater” a lot. I prefer to think of them as doubters. But, of course, I suppose anyone who doubts Johnny Boy must “hate” him, right?

  58. Nick H Says:

Oh the hilarious irony in all these posts and comments.

The draft is less than 2 weeks away, nobody knows anything about shit until then.

  59. Nick H Says:

Oh and then there’s actual football to be played, who woulda thunk it.

  60. WalkdaPlank Says:

“Joe is convinced the haters, if Roger Goodell announced next Thursday the Bucs have drafted Johnny Football, would immediately run out into traffic and try to tackle a moving milk truck.”

I would expect the same from Joe if his Mancrush is passed on. lol

  61. robert6 Says:

and now my day is complete

    you complete me joe

  62. MTM Says:

Manziel would a great pick up at 7 for Tampa. No one has ever uttered phrase “franchise Offensive Lineman”. The Bucs need a franchise QB the rest of the team pieces will fall into place.

  63. Bucfan#37 Says:

I’d like to live in Colorado just for the smoke, that’s called freedom. And peanut butter and jelly are sticky.

  64. Buc1987 Says:

MTM …as far as I know, no one has ever uttered that Manziel is a franchise QB either. Wake up.

  65. Buc1987 Says:

BamBamBuc…some businesses still drug test in Colorado though right. Can you still be fired if it’s in your system. I think you can, but idk.

  66. Nick H Says:

You’ve never heard “franchise offensive linemen” because it doesn’t even need to be stated how incredibly important it is to have a great line/linemen.

I’d be just as happy with a top OL prospect that has a much lower chance to bust than a supposed “franchise QB.”

  67. IdahoBucsfan Says:

Joe is obviously the “hater” the Glennon Hater! I have stopped wondering if there will be a mancrush article each day and now simply wonder how many there will be. I can’t wait till the draft so we can get actual noteworthy tidbits again!

  68. Broy3434 Says:

Oil Derrick Brooks and Jason have it figured out. Stop hating on personnel and management. U can’t do better so stop. Now if we’re talking Matt Millen we could all do better. Make the pick that changes the chise. BEEn saying it since Lavonte pushed the Jet out of bounds when I knew the team didn’t have the coaching necessary and saw what was coming. Draft Evans and move up for Carr or draft Manziel and bring the trophy back to Tampa. Manziel+ a lovie defense = good luck to the opposing team.

  69. Buc1987 Says:

Broy3434 says : “BEEn saying it since Lavonte pushed the Jet out of bounds when I knew the team didn’t have the coaching necessary and saw what was coming.”

If only you were on JBF and saying it then we might believe you. Outside of that I smell BS.

  70. BoJim Says:

Think Glennon should backup Josh. Would much rather have a guy with experience as a backup than a rookie. As I have said before. How’d that work out last year?

But if JF is still available at 7,,,TAKE HIM!!
