Dashon Goldson Chomping At Bit

November 29th, 2013

Most surprising about the Bucs picking off Matthew Stafford four times last week was the Bucs did this largely without key veteran starters Darrelle Revis and Dashon Goldson.

Revis messed up his groin. He hasn’t practiced (yet) this week and it’s unclear if he will be available Sunday against the Stinking Panthers. Goldson, however, should be. He spoke on WDAE-AM 620 this week about how missing the game was like being “a convict,” and how, while serving a one-game suspension for hitting too hard, he couldn’t even get treated by the Bucs trainers — he went back to California to get treated by his personal doctors.

Aside from just wanting to play, Goldson can’t wait to get back on the field. Due to an injury, he didn’t play the first time the Bucs faced the Stinking Panthers.

“Definitely [looking forward to playing],” Goldson said. “One, I didn’t play that game, either. I’ve been looking forward to this game, and I feel what Gerald [McCoy] is saying. We left a lot out there [in the team’s first meeting this season]. We didn’t play good as a defense. We let some things slip through, some big plays, and I think we can eliminate that if we just focus in on what we have to do. We’re playing good football right now – we’ve [won] three straight and we’re getting a lot of turnovers. That’s good.”

The Bucs will need him. The Lions play sloppy football. They are very talented but are a sloppy, undisciplined team.

The Stinking Panthers are a good team. With talent. And they generally don’t play themselves out of games. They already beat the Patriots, a team that curb-stomped the Bucs already in September. Joe is having trouble feeling good about this game.

Really not enjoying the “read more” links. Makes it really annoying to read the entire article…particularly on an iPhone

  2. Fangie Says:

Dashon right or wrong needs to change. Most penalties is not helping your team. Stubborn is not doing Bucs any good ,so saying its how I play is selfish ,period. Not same NFL. Adjust.

  4. Tony Says:

Maybe the read more is simply to increase ‘clicks’ on the site. You’re better than this Joebucsfan!!!!

  5. OB Says:

I believe the read more is to get more clicks on the ads posted, this is what pays Joe.

I don’t like having to do it because it wastes time and I have to go through the ads that are posted between articles.

    Bad idea Joe

Joe gets that the “read more” is new and annoying to some regular readers, though most of Joe’s readers only visit once a week or so. Joe knows the regulars will get used to it, as it’s common on the Internet, and the less-regular readers now can scroll many more headlines on the home page faster. Joe also has some additional changes coming that will be universally embraced. –Joe

  6. GTDigger Says:

No, what’s annoying are the ****ing video ads that just start up on their own when you’re reading an article. Then you have to stop your reading and scroll and kill the ad that NOBODY cares about. There are 33 ads on this page alone.

  7. NJBucsFan Says:

Joe knows the regulars will get used to it, as it’s common on the Internet,

Part of the reason I am a regular reason is the differences between what is done commonly and what is done on this site.

Dude, you know you have no clue when it comes to speculating about Joe’s business. There’s no reason to do that here. –Joe

  9. GTDigger Says:

Insulting Joe is never ok. As Joe always tells his readers, if you don’t like it, that’s ok. Joe will continue to do what he needs to do to deliver the best, most diverse, and engaging content for Bucs fans. –Joe

  10. GTDigger Says:

This is not a message board or a democracy. It has never been portrayed as such. –Joe

  11. GTDigger Says:

Thank you for your patronage. Joe did not insult you, or do anything to incite your anger. –Joe

  12. GTDigger Says:

I’m not angry, I’m just calling you out.

This is funny. “Calling Joe out” with nonsense. Joe produces more original posts than other Bucs news outlets. Those posts just also happened to be mixed in with posts of aggregated content blended with opinion. Joe’s fully credentialed by the NFL and the Buccaneers. Your opinion on journalism is silly. Journalism is about informing, entertaining, and adhering to set of universally accepted practices. Joe does all three. Just because other outlets are too egomaniacal to share all news and commentary of interest to Bucs fans doesn’t make them any better or worse than anyone else. Again, you’re free to read whatever you want. Joe is not interested in complaints. –Joe

  13. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Joe, I spent twenty years in marketing. And I was just going by what you said. Removing my comment givesthe appearance that I said something improper, which I did not.

If you spent 40 years in marketing, it wouldn’t matter. Joe’s responsible for every word on this website, comment or Bucs copy. Joe never permits inaccuracies of fact that he’s aware of. And you grossly mischaracterized Joe’s business. There’s no logical reason for Joe to leave that posted. Its surely nothing personal, given that this is an anonymous forum. –Joe

  14. GTDigger Says:

Really have no clue what you’re talking about. Sorry. Happy Holidays. –Joe

  15. GTDigger Says:

JOE is not interested in your complaints. That sums it all up

So filled with hate, for what purpose? Oh well, you were given a lot of room to calm down. Joe can’t babysit comments. –Joe

Didn’t intend to create any issues with my original post. Sorry Joe. Just figured I’d provide feedback since I come here 5-8 times a day.

    Sorry…

Not a problem in the least. –Joe

Your right Joe it is pretty annoying to your regulars but since when has that changed anything Joe has wanted to do?

Anyone who’s been here long enough would know that opinening on that is a wasted cause.
Honestly though it’s only bad when it comes to the articles I don’t plan to comment on cause of the added step but if I was going to comment on an article I would have to click on the article to access the comment section anyways. In that sense it really effects nothing.

  19. Snook Says:

Finally chosen $ over readers. Oh well.

And don’t say its always about the $. Because without the readers, you’d make no $.

You have no idea what you’re talking about. –Joe

    Joe, you kill me.
    I love you man.

Seriously joe I use my smart phone and have horrible service at my house. It takes like 15 mins just to load a single page. I used to love the website and yes u do post more news than any other buccaneers sight but this new click to read more thingofamajigger is driving me crazy. JOE!!!!!

  22. TampaSportsFan Says:

Gee Joe. seems you are awfully sensitive to people critiquing how you do your job and run your website without “knowing” the reasons behind what you do. Yet, isn’t that exactly what you do for a living?!?! – critique managers, coaches and players without knowing the reasons for what they do. Just like you can judge teams for their record, people can give their opinion on how they like your website. But I do find it humorous how defensive you get when your decisions are criticized when that is exactly what you spend your life doing to others. What is the saying? Don’t throw stones if you live in a glass house?

Joe’s happy to have stones cast at him and Joe is really not defensive, just protective of his integrity. Big difference. Joe’s not going to allow BS and speculation here because Joe doesn’t have the time to police the BS. It’s really just that simple. Joe is happy to answer questions on radio and directly at joe@joebucsfan.com. –Joe

Joe, I’m a bit confused by this comment. I think you are mixing me up with someone else. If you can take the time to email me at buccaneerbonzai2 at yahoo and help me understand, I would be greatful.

I am under the the assumption that more views and clicks on your ads increase revenue. Am I correct in that assumption? If so, it just stands to reason that persons who visit multiple times per day generate more income than persons who visit once per week.

I know you are busy. I’ve been retired for 2-3 years and maybe things have changed in that time. I’ll understand if you cannot take the time to email me but if you can do so to help me understand if things have changed I would be grateful.

  26. TampaSportsFan Says:

Regarding being protective of your integrity, what about Schiano’s integrity as the “BS and speculation” flew. I say that the team’s record is fair game but it was unethical how he was accused of rigging the captain’s vote and leaking the medical records anything else that the media could cook up. I heard you say on radio that it would be boring if you didn’t “get personal.” So attacking someone’s integrity is ok for entertainment purposes, but it had better not be your integrity.

Let’s be real and honest, please. There was one national report from a reputable outlet regarding an unsourced claim that there was a feeling the locker room that Schiano rigged the captain’s vote. It was shared by other outlets as unsourced, as it was here, and fans could interpret themselves. (See archives, versus your own fictional accounts). Second, “the get personal” comment had nothing to do with anything more than making the point that the passion for Bucs fans is rightly personal for many because they have invested chunks of their lives and wallets into the Bucs, sacrificing other things in many cases. Attacking anyone’s integrity needlessly and without grounds isn’t OK, but many fans’ disdain for Greg Schiano is/was born from their belief that he’s not a good football coach. Joe has no problem with those who come from that angle. –Joe.
