Revis Doesn’t Know If Team Believes In Regime

October 25th, 2013

It seemed like a simple question posed to Darrelle Revis in the Bucs locker room following the latest debacle at the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway last night.

“Do you believe collectively this team still believes in the scheme and the coaching staff?” FOX-13 reporter Kevin O’Donnell asked Revis.

Well, that was a tough question for Revis. He wasn’t sure whether his teammates are buying in to all things New Schiano Order.

“I don’t know. I don’t know.” Revis replied to O’Donnell. “You know, we got a game plan every week. We gotta stick to the gameplan. We gotta abide by the gameplan and what we’re trying to do to win. I don’t think guys are literally going out there and trying to do their own thing. You know, in every game there are mistakes up and down the board. You know, the word that we have to get to and we have to focus on is consistency. That’s all. And at this point, that’s a hard word for us to try to do, to try to do that, to be consistent.”

Joe is speechless. Joe asked a few players about playing for Greg Schiano to save his job, and Joe didn’t get any rah-rah kind of support for the head coach.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t surprising.

Revis went on to say he didn’t know if he’d be surprised if Schiano was fired soon. When asked about the “Fire Schiano” billboards now in the Tampa Bay area, Revis didn’t take the opportunity to defend his head coach.

“I’m not really looking into it. I didn’t pay for it. I didn’t put it up,” Revis said.

    When will schiano be gone!?!?

    Still awaiting Glazers!!!!!

  2. MadMax Says:

Revis is very smart….and knows how to camouflage his words…..well said Revis!

  3. Tyler Says:

We’ll you said it would take active players openly questioning the regime I’d have to say when your 16 mil dollar man isn’t surprised if he gets fired I think the plug should be pulled even though is just leave him till the end of the year makes more sense draft wise

  4. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

You guys are reading into it. All he said is that a lack of consistency is why they are losing. Dungy said the same thing this week. Both are right. Well, that and a qb that can’t pass over 20 yards.

  5. BigMacAttack Says:

Madmax, I agree. The fact that Revis didn’t totally endorse Schiano says everything. He’s an honest man and he wasn’t going to lie for our Paid Liar in Chief. I wonder how much more the Glazers can take. I had a designated driver tonight and we drank profusely. For the first time in over 10 years I missed the opening kickoff. Is it really going to matter. It’s a sad state of affairs. Next home game, I have to be the designated driver.
    Bummer man. Thanks Coach. Prick.

  6. PRBucFan Says:

The losses are hardly about “A qb that can’t pass over 20 yards” ahahaha.

    Nice one.

And no, as much as I have supported Schiano.

Revis knows how his words would be interpreted and had he wanted to he could have defended his coach and he didn’t.

Schiano is through, losing the locker room is the end of him.

  7. JT Says:

Every week it looks more and more like this team is about to quit. So disgusted my bucs will go 0/16. The media will NEVER let us live that down. Our Tampa Bay Buccaneers will forever be the official laughing stock of all of sports.

  8. MadMax Says:

Oh that greggy is soon to be a “fired prick”….we’re just waiting…..

  9. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

PRBucFan, I said “inconsistency” AND the QB.

I will say this though…on the sidelines in the second half Schiano had that deer in the headlights look. Then in the presser he was looking pretty down. I think this one hurt him more than he’s saying.

And if the players took note of his body language in the game…well it’s only a matter of time now.

I don’t think firing Dominick mid-season is a good idea though. Really there is no reason to. He’ll need to help an interim coach the rest of the season.

  10. Hawaiian Buc Says:

In my opinion, if this wasn’t the death blow, then nothing will be. If they don’t fire him tomorrow, he’ll probably make it through the season. The Glazers need to wake up, listen to what EVERYONE is saying, and get this clown the hell out of Tampa. Enough is enough. I don’t give a damn about draft picks. I’d give up our first round pick just to get rid of Schiano. I mean that 100%.

  11. PRBucFan Says:

I don’t think the players look at his body language so much as their record and I don’t agree with the QB take but I would agree that I believe Schiano is hurting deeply.

    I feel bad for him.

As for Dom, I have mixed emotions because i feel he’s done exceptional the past few season drafting and in FA since he’s actually been able to spend.

I know people will disagree, but it is what it is. I wouldn’t object to a house cleaning but I certainly would have mixed emotions on it.

  12. FanOfBucs Says:

That’s kind of a big time quote right there.

Yeesh. It just continues to degrade at One Buc

  13. Hawaiian Buc Says:

If he really is feeling so badly (and I’m not saying he isn’t), why don’t we do something different? Why not do a flea flicker or something? I’d even welcome back the Benn’d around at this point. Do a hook and ladder? Have the players do the haka pregame (probably none of you know what that is). Do something different to at least show me that you are trying. Fire someone. Play man for at least half the snaps. Get creative, get desperate. Stop stunting all the time. Anything!!!!

I don’t even care if we fire Dominik or not. I don’t care about Sullivan, Sheridan, or any other coach. I’m fine with Glennon. I’m fine with Leonard Johnson. Bring in more Rutgers players if you want. I just want Schianno gone. People say why fire him now, I’ll give you one HUGE reason why. This fool is trying to get Doug Martin to be back by November 11!!! Why????? Yeah, lets get one of our best players seriously hurt by you giving him the ball 30 times in a lost season!! But as long as we get a high draft pick, I guess it’s worth it to some.

  14. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Aside from Lavonte David, every single player on this team is regressing. Even the punter sucks. McCoy is doing very little. Mason Foster is invisible. Barron is non-existent. Jackson isn’t playing his best football. Nobody on our OL is worth a damn. Banks and Johnson are getting crappier by the week. I don’t even know if Teo-Neisheim and Bowers are in the game. These guys are either worn out physically or worn out emotionally, probably both. This madness has got to end, and it has to end now.

  15. MadMax Says:

Teo, Foster, and McCoy were in the game about 40%…..looked like they werent but they were a little.

  16. PRBucFan Says:

    That’s just my opinion.

To suggest he’s enjoying this is ludicrous lol. As much as monster as people think he is he’s still human and I don’t think any human enjoys being humiliated on a national level not only by their own failure but by media and people of all types deserved or not.

    Unless he’s a masachist?

But I want him gone too. But no ones take joy in failure.

  17. D-Rome Says:

Revis is very smart….and knows how to camouflage his words…..well said Revis!

Well said, MadMax. I would go as far as saying that Revis is likely one of those key anonymous Bucs sources inside the locker room. Revis is saying a ton here.

  18. Hawaiian Buc Says:

I didn’t say he was enjoying it, but I don’t understand why if he’s so miserable, why won’t he change something. What he is doing isn’t working, so do something different.

  19. Warthog Says:

Hawaiian, I know what the Hakka is and I endorse your suggestion.

  22. mvermulm Says:

I wouldn’t be surprised if Sheridan is the one fired. The defense has looked horrible. The constant stunts, the mis-use of Revis (that was fixed a little last night), the zones on third downs to give up easy conversions. If the Glazers tell Schiano he needs to win 6+ games to save his job, I think he fires someone there to make a point… and I wouldn’t blame him one bit. Firing a head coach writes off the season; firing a coordinator says “do your damn job”.

  28. bucsguy Says:

Fire him now send a message that this is unacceptable. The scheme is horrible how in the world playing against cam Newton do you call a stunt and have AC loop inside while leaving your tilt nose with outside contain on a goal to go situation. This is typical of the scheme try to confuse rather than just pay football, when you don’t all the time it doesn’t catch anyone by surprise. You have to have outside contain on a mobile qb. It’s a joke we pay revis 16 mil to be in zone? Even when he is in man its off man. Fire this guy please his approach is horrible but his scheme is worse.

  29. Joseph Falzone Says:

I bad for Mike Glennon even though he is not a great Q.B. he takes alot of heat for playing bad football but he is only trying to do what he is being told to do. He doe’s not call the plays it’s done buy the coach telling him each play in side his helmet so lets cut him some slack. He was put into the game way before he was even close to being ready.Reality is schiano MUST GO………

Oh yeah he brought a ton of discipline to the Bucs. At least Raheem had cap and talent issues but still won. This team has been a lame duck for more than 12months. They are just showing up to do a job, not playing the game.

  32. BucsFanSince76 Says:

I don’t know how the Glazer’s passed up a golden opportunity to get rid of Schiano and have a little extra time to get things reorganized. Schiano’s gone – any other option is nonsensical and will only further erode the fan base and the player support.

But the timing was perfect after the Panther’s game: A Thursday night dud. Fire Schiano on Friday, install Wannstedt as the interim head coach, and have almost a week and a half to get things organized for the next game. How the heck they missed the opportunity to have as smooth of a transition as one can get in this type of situation, I just don’t know. What in the world are the Glazer’s thinking?
