Bucs Opponents Are 14-5

October 6th, 2013

Like many Bucs fans, Joe’s trying to rationalize maintaining hope for the 2013 season. The Bucs must be able to find ways to win games and stop being a league laughingstock. This is not a rebuilding year.

Joe found a little hope today watching the Cardinals punish Carolina 22-6.

Joe really thought Carolina, coming out of a bye week, would bring more to the table. But they, like the Bucs, were thoroughly abused by the Arizona defense. With New Orleans staying undefeated and New England losing its first game today, Bucs opponents are now a stunning 14-5. The 2-2 Jets play at Atlanta on Monday night.

So perhaps one could look at this season to date and see a Bucs team that ran into tough matchups — and good teams — and choked a couple away.

Yes, Joe’s spinning. But the 14-5 mark is too big to ignore.

The 2-3 Eagles head to Tampa next Sunday. A couple of things are certain: the Eagles are going to stress the Bucs defense and Mike Glennon must play big on third down to give the Bucs a fighting chance.

This next game I’m very torn, as a fan I want to see the Bucs win but anothet loss could bring the Schiano rule to an end.

  2. 911bucs Says:

^^F that we needs some wins

  3. Tampabaybuctfan Says:

    @ Paul

A fan?….you’re torn….you have even a small hope that we lose?….Just as I suspected…I’m sure there are many more like you.

Myself, I hope we destroy Philadelphia and start a winning streak.

  4. RealityCheck Says:

Good teams win close games. The in game adjustments and offensive play calling have got to improve. Hopefully having 2 weeks to plan for the Eagles will get us a win with a solid game managing performance by the rookie.

  5. Mike Says:

All we need is just one win to get moving. And as for Vick….. I hope our D blasts him! That’s the only player in the NFL that I truly have a problem with. Let the Bucs unleash on em!

  6. BucNasty!!! Says:

This team needs to truly establish an identity an I believe we need a offensive minded coach to accomplish that someone who knows how to get the most out of our strengths like our run game apon looking at potential available hc candidates I say we sign the 49ers oc greg roman image what great he can do with this offense martib woukd have kikler numbers get spelled more often because contrary to schiano belief we do have more then onr back an this guy made alex skith an kapernick look like stars not to mention he coach luck n collage so he can develop qb’s…. o yea that means u mr bridgewater. An hell any competent dc woukd have this defense up to par we got all the pieces minus a big time RE but we got time an cao space to solve that I say roman an a dc of maybe like mike nolan or someone what do u think joe??? O an b a pak an pass this on up to the glazers for me seeing as though I kno you brrak bread with them on monday nights thanks pal 🙂

  7. Bucs1987 Says:

I say we continue to talk about the current season, the current players and the current coaches. No need what-so-ever to talk about the off-season right now.

  8. Bucs1987 Says:

If we are going to discuss other teams or other coaches. Let’s keep bringing up how Belichick had his players charge on the victory formation by the Bengals. I thought that was bush league stuff. WTH was he thinking anyways?

  9. Mike Says:

I seen that! Classic….. He must be a lil hitler himself! Lol

  10. Mike Says:

    Meant I didn’t see that!

  11. gotbbucs Says:

We are a missed field goal and one third down pick-up per game away from being 3-1. That is seriously it. Granted, there have been other mistakes that have led to these loses, but if you break it all the way down it comes down to one more first down in each of those close games.

  12. Bucs1987 Says:

gotbbucs…thus us why I’m not panicking at all. I may be a little depressed at watching the rug being pulled out from under us fans at the end of games, but I’m just going through the motions right now. The wins will come, I have patience. Hopefully the team has gotten the losing over with and out of the way, so they can go on a streak soon.

  13. Ryan Says:

Stop making excuses for Schiano to be fired.

  14. Captain Buc Says:

Gotbbucs is right. Just a play or two away. At least we now have a QB that will try to be leader and do his job to the best of his ability unlike the last guy we had.

  15. BucNasty!!! Says:

Word talk about what season this season is over an the nerve of them to have the audacity to believe 6 wins will save them so let me get this straight we win 7 games last year we come back another year vested into the philosophy an we add more pro bowl talent an u think less wins is suffice ??? Im sorry but im tired of mediocre resukts j miss winning I dont even kno what thats kike anymore ten games is enough I feel like we back wit rah take this old college dog up to the old maple tree glazers an put him out his miseries…. or keeo hin so I jno we can draft bridgewater just dont present this sameTRASH to me next year as I fan I cant stomach it anymore its truly pathetic

  16. Pete 422 Says:

And to think they should have won 3 of those games. A bonehead play, a coach afraid to go for it (playing scared) in 4th & 3 and a dumb call to throw over the middle with a rookie QB.

  17. Pete 422 Says:

Plus the offense is broken. Same O as last year. Put some new wrinkles it it coach Sully!!!

  18. Capt. Tim Says:

They are 10-5, if you take the cakewalk Bucs out if the equation.

Philly is watching Film. On several occasions, Glennon had the opurtunity to run.
He didn’t. He won’t. Schiano wants his QB to never leave the pocket, and Glennon can’t move anyway.

They will be in a constant blitz defense. Once the Cards began blitzing in the second half, it shut us down.

I feel bad for Glennon. He seems like a good kid. The Rutgers offense doesn’t utilize the TE or Slot Reciever very often. It is predicated on Long passes, and ignores the short passes, and middle of the field.

Doesn’t leave him a lot of options.

  19. Jerry Says:

I seriously doubt the Glazers have any intention of firing Schiano after only 2 years, especially when it appears as though the franchise blames a lot of the 0-4 start on Josh Freeman.

Im thinking Schiano gets one more year, and will get to pick a QB coming out of the draft.
Dominik may be on thin ice though with his draft picks being less than impressive. 2009 draft was a disaster.

If you don’t like it….either deal with it or give up your tickets. I dont know what else to tell you.

We are barely losing games… not like the 0-5 Giants who have been outscored by 100 points so far. We are not as bad as the media is making us out to be.

  20. Robbie_G Says:

I Live near Philly, and all I ask for this terrible season, PLEASE BEAT THE PIGEONS!!! I can no STAND these@*(% fans up here, just play well and shut them UP for 1 week. GO BUCS

  21. Tampabaybuctfan Says:

Wow…already selecting draft picks and suggesting coaches that are at other teams right now…what do you suggest….tampering…..and Bridgewater….you better hope the Jaguars pick up Freeman and he lights it up because I think Bridgewater is at least a pick above us.
And…you totally write Glennon off after one game….
I bet you guys were ready for a divorce right after your honeymoons….or maybe right after the ceremony.
Hoping for losses and failure from our players.
We lost 3 games by 6 points….sure some is coaching, some is Freeman some is LVD….some is Lindell, some is Glennon….and even a Doug Martin fumble thrown in.
Lets just tune out complstely….no need to watch….no need to root…no need to come to JBF….everything is totally lost.
Thats for you…not for me because I’m s Tampabaybucfan!!!

  22. DCBUCSFAN Says:

If it takes a few more loses to get this jerk fired, then so be it! I’m used to it anyway! #weneedarealcoach

  23. DallasBuc Says:

Freeman does not lose vs Arizona. We ef’d up

  24. Joke Says:

I root for wins until we’re eliminated, then I root for losses for draft position. This is a manner of fandom perfected in Tampa over most of the 80s and 90s.

So let’s go win this one, guys. Then who knows – a few more after that and we’re back to .500. (Very unlikely, yes, but something to root for.)

  25. Bobby Says:

Does anybody else just automatically skip over Capt. Tim’s lame ass posts now?? Talk about a guy beating a dead horse….cheesh!! Freeman’s gone dude. Pull for the team we have or get another you big baby. Schiano is the coach and he ain’t going anywhere. My God, are really an adult? Don’t bother to answer….it’s not really a question. Seriously, you could use therapy dude. Every article posted by Joe you use it as an excuse to just re-post the same old lame ass crap. All I do is glance at your post, see ‘Rutgers offense’, and just move along. I’ve seen it before in every other article Joe posted since Freeman got benched. Pathetic.

  26. Bucs1987 Says:

I’m not even going to root for draft position if things get a bit worse. Because I know a winning streak towards the end of the season can carry a team over into the next season. I could care less if the Bucs lose out on drafting higher. I care more about momentum into the next season. Of course a 5 game winning streak at the end of season may be a tough task with San Fran and N.O. at the end, but it will do wonders for team morale and royally piss of the Schiano haters as well. Draft position be damned, I don’t care. Just win.

  27. Tampabaybucsfan Says:

    @ bobby

I demoted him… He is now Lt. Tim

  28. Eric Says:

I knew this was gonna be a problem when the schedule came out and it had other NFL teams on it.

Never works out for a dominik assembled bunch.

I’ll stick with 0-16. I don’t see that MG kid winning a game.

  29. DCBUCSFAN Says:

    Josh to Minnesota! Mmmmmm

  30. JBo$$ Says:

    Freeman to the vikings

  31. Bucs1987 Says:

    Josh who?

  32. DCBUCSFAN Says:

    Do the Vikes have receivers?

  33. Drew H. Says:

Josh Freeman signs one year deal with the Minnesota Vikings….ESPN reports

  34. buccin.cane Says:

Wonder what adam schein tbinks now.sknce.be.said earlier that he wohld.take.Christian ponder.over josh freeman…..guess the vikes.would.rather have.it the other way arould.lol

  35. buc4lyfe Says:

No sorry can’t let you play the strength of schedule card, schiano sucks and he choked at the end of two games which we should have won, I love my Bucs but schiano killed our chances of being relevant, analyst were saying they weren’t high on the Bucs because of Freeman but only because they couldn’t say the coach sucks

  36. Stephen Says:

Nice try Joe but if we win those games it’s 10 and 9. Face it. we suck but I wil still be there to cheer for my team no Matter how bad it gets. I just hope this team doesn’t quit like they did on Morris

  37. Stephen Says:

    Good one Eric

  38. BucNasty!!! Says:

How are u so sure schiano stays another year he’s only won 7 of his 20 games thats not even 50 percent if less then 50 percent wasnt good enough for josh its not good enough for coach I dont kno about u but im not applauding this crap any longer ill watch n hope for the best with theTEAM but im praying for a coach to actually right the ship not continue to watch us sink with a win now team

  39. Big Marlon B Says:

Sorry but the strength of schedule argument is kind of lame. If the Bucs won the games they should’ve won, their opponents would be 11-8 instead of 14-5…..still not bad, but not stellar either. By playing like $hit, a team can fluff up their opponents’ W-L quite a bit.

  40. MadMax..original Says:

    Good Eyes Joe!!

Have Revis play man, Goldson and Barron zoning (but rush one of them when it looks like a Vick run), and have our D line rushing the outside to disrupt the running.

Plus its going to be up tempo to hell and back….Rotate our D line every chance you can get (so they can catch their breath)

Its going to be an exciting game for our D. Cant wait!

  41. Patrick in VA Says:

I love in the DC area and this is the loser mentality that I know all too well having listened to the justifications given by fans to explain away their bad teams over the years. “we lost a lot, but at least we’re losing to good teams”. We should be way past this point. This was supposed to be our year to talk about playoff contention.

  42. MadMax..original Says:

@Patrick, exactly….but going with Glennon will be a minor set back. But IMHO its ok, our D has beasts, and Glennon will catch on! I have faith in him.

  43. Meh Says:

28.6% of those 14 wins came against us lol.
