Report: Freeman To Request Trade

September 15th, 2013

josh freeman 0701

Boy, this is going to get some run on the NFL morning pregame shows, especially on the Tiffany Network.

Per good guy Jason La Canfora (his wife was run over by a hit-and-run driver yesterday and he will not appear on TV today as a result) of CBS Sports, who is well plugged in with NFL sources, posted a story this morning that strongly suggests not only will Bucs franchise quarterback Josh Freeman request a trade before the trade deadline next month, but that Schiano’s job status is “perilous” and that he is trying to Pearl Harbor Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik.

Furthermore, several executives on other clubs believe Schiano’s refusal to ever really endorse Freeman is an attempt to undermine general manager Mark Dominik, who drafted Freeman in the first round prior to Schiano’s arrival from Rutgers and who has also worked diligently to add talent to that roster in recent years. Many around the league believe Schiano would like to have full roster control as well, viewing Freeman — who threw for over 4,000 yards and nearly 30 touchdowns last year — as a pawn in a would-be power struggle.

Tampa’s drafting of quarterback Mike Glennon in the third round this spring — Glennon is clearly seen as “Schiano’s guy” within the organization — is just another indication that Freeman’s future is elsewhere. In the final year of his rookie deal, with his value being undermined by the head coach, and with the Bucs making no attempts to extend him, a trade request by Freeman is one of few options available to the youngster.

Freeman, it should be noted, was not the problem in Tampa’s woeful Week 1 loss at the Jets. He actually rallied the team to take the lead in the fourth quarter, only for Schiano’s defense to once again display its issues with discipline as Lavonte David’s personal foul allowed the Jets to kick a game-winning field goal with time expiring. Four times last year Freeman rallied the Bucs late, only for that defense to hand the game away. The timing of Schiano’s remarks about the quarterback this week were seen as curious by several rival team officials. Officials perceived the remarks as a diversionary tactic to get the local media writing about the quarterback instead of about another collapse by Schiano’s defense. A defense reinforced this past offseason with the arrival of Pro Bowl corner Darrelle Revis and Pro Bowl safety Dashon Goldson.

Joe has to be honest. This has so many angles — without one quote, mind you — that Joe is hesitant to swallow this whole.

Schiano’s job in on thin ice? Really? That’s news to Joe after Week 1. Maybe if he goes 2-10, Joe could see that. But, geez, it’s Week Two of the season, people.

Schiano is trying to cut Dominik’s legs out from under him? That’s a new one too. From everything Joe has heard, both Dominik and Schiano have a very good working relationship.

As for Freeman requesting a trade, the three teams that La Canfora floated as trade targets are Minnesota, Tennessee and Oakland.

First, Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder has produced better results than Freeman. Has anyone seen Freeman take a snap in a playoff game yet? Second, why would Tennessee and Oakland, especially Oakland, waste draft picks on a guy who is going to be a free agent and they couldn’t necessarily sign him come next spring?

Further, if you are Freeman, the season is hardly over yet. Why bail now? Besides, as long as the Bucs don’t franchise him, he could pick his landing spot next season and have teams bid for his services. Why request a trade where he might be sent to a team/location he loathes when he could choose one in eight months?

There’s just way too much here for Joe to believe that everything is concrete that La Canfora wrote, and Joe likes the guy a lot.

I hope this isn’t true, I don’t believe to be. But one funny thing is last year I sat back and thought what team could I see freeman playing with, wouldn’t you know it I said the Vikings lol.

  2. Raphael Says:

    Schiano = Ray Perkins

How could coach screw this up with this roster ? Schiano will be fired and Sully will be head coach hopefully, and Josh will stay …..if not it will be an ugly season …

  3. lightningbuc Says:

This season is going down the crapper faster than a 10 pound turd!

  4. Walter Says:

Good for Freeman, go to Minnesota, win there. They’ll appreciate you there, unlike the ungrateful Bucs fans that tear you up every day.

Enjoy the 0 wins with Glennon under center! LOL

  5. chris Says:

Lets put it this way: I think Management and the coaching staff already know what they have in Freeman. I think Dom knows his job rides on Freemans success. Remember, Dominik made the final choice to draft Mike Glennon. So it’s not JUST Schiano’s pick. I think there is mutual agreement there that Josh Freeman is not the guy and could look to deal him.

Remember, it was Mark Dominik who said we’re going to see a lot more of Glennon come preseason.

People think there reason we kept 3 QBs is because Glennon isn’t ready. I’m starting to put two and two together here. Orlovsky was kept because there could be a good chance Freeman is traded come October.

Honestly, this timeline and chart would not surprise me one bit.

  6. Raphael Says:

TY Joe, your spot on, and the 3rd paragraph was spot on , bingo !

  7. Walter Says:

  8. Raphael Says:

Lol. …good for Free, I wonder if Schiano ever had a player request a trade at Rutgers ? Lolololol !

  9. Fairteacher Says:

Article seems like put conjecture. Joe has said himself that Schiano is a refreshing straight talker…so they are lying about their relationship? We are trained to be so skeptical these days, but maybe things are warranted. I would fully expect Schiano to say something like, “you know, things are rocky, but were all professionals and are playing towards one goal” but I don’t think he has even indicated that.

Seems like la Canfora is sensationalizing this a bit…

  10. Touchdown Gus Says:

Joe you pretty much nailed it. This makes no sense. No team would want him when they can get him next year and not waste a draft pick. This is ridiculous. Again we win today and some of the bull will be forgotten

  11. Touchdown Gus Says:

If Freeman really wants a trade he should just play well……right now with what we have seen this season he has not made himself look too good for a trade

  12. chris Says:

Thats what I mean. Instead of seeing “Bucs draft Mike Glennon”, Freeman should want to prove to the organization that he’s there guy.

Look at the timeline. He’s done NONE of that.

And lol you think he’d win at Minnesota? If he can’t succeed when guys line up 8 guys in the box with Jackson and Williams, both better WRs than what Minnesota has, then what makes you think he succeeds there?

  13. J 2.0 Says:

As a former Freeman supporter I have to ask Raphael…. WTF is wrong with you?

Its obvious to me that team is backing Schiano here. Freeman is weak minded. The stench of the Raheem era is a tough one to wash off.

You really want to fire a coach that completely changed the culture of a team full of bad attitudes and bad work habits in one season after 17 games because our pansy ass QB got his feelings hurt when he wasn’t voted as a captain?

The team has turned on Freeman. If he wants to go, he needs to go. Revis, VJax, Goldson, David, McCoy, Clayborn, Martin, Joseph, and almost all of the others have bought into the Schiano system. Should we get rid of them too???

I’m going to the game. Not liking our chances.

  14. lightningbuc Says:

Let’s See Here – Would the Glazers rather trade a QB who is in the last year of his contract or fire a coach that they would have to pay anyway for almost 4 years? Yes, the Glazers have money, but they don’t like to waste it, especially when Gruden made them pay every cent.

  15. RBellBuc Says:

Reap what you sow m’fkn turd.

  16. Raphael Says:

J2.0 …open your eyes , did you not see Schiano yell at sully last week and sully just put his hands up in the air ?
Did you not hear Mike Williams say he will be here as long as Freeman is here..

Who the hell schedules a photo shoot at 6:30 am LABOR DAY MORNING ?

[Come on, man. No ethnic slurs. — Joe]

  17. Wally Says:

Glennon isn’t the answer. He has a windup like Leftwich and runs like a praying mantis.

Freeman needs to clean up some personal habits. If he does, he’ll be a world beater.

  18. Jktampa Says:

Ridiculous attempt to feed the rumor mill. As you said, Joe, not one quote. Also the “sources” were outside the Buccaneer organization. What do they know?

  19. Joe Says:

Again we win today and some of the bull will be forgotten

    At least back burner.

  20. NJBucsFan Says:

This makes it very hard for me to argue against the Bucs being the laughing stock of the NFL. I live in Eagles country and have to hear about Chip Kelly all the time now. Can’t stand it.

I used to work with a guy who was recruited by and played for Schiano for 4 yrs. When he was announced as the coach, I asked what type of coach he was. I was told, hard headed, micro-manager, and will alienate anyone that may be in his way of what he feels will be successful. This went for players, coaches, and the school staff. I must admit, I was concerned when I heard this, but the first year we needed a new culture. Now it seems all of his comments about Schiano may be bubbling up….

  21. J 2.0 Says:

Mike Williams signed a long term deal. Freeman did not. Is Williams going to retire next season??

Who cares when the photo shoot is? If it is your job to be somewhere at 6:30 am YOU GET THERE AT 6:15 AM!!!

Why didn’t the team vote Freeman as a captain???

He is weak minded. If he really is requesting a trade it just proves it. He should be out there proving himself, instead he is taking a cowards way out and turning his back on his teammates.

  22. RastaMon Says:

    Freeman>Schiano….and I ain’t sold on Freeman

  23. j lynch Says:

Rapheal are you gonna move when your boyfriend gets traded????????? get over it freeman doesnt have what it takes

  24. Mark Sanchez's Hairband Says:

Lacanfora is an idiot. He just blamed last weeks loss on the defense and not Freeman?

    Good one, lazy eye.

  25. chris Says:

Raphael, where do you get your sources that the photo shoot was that early? Even if it was, how come everyone else is there except Freeman?

You are defending him, but the sources on and off the field say different.

Freeman scored better than the lowly guys: Pondner and Gabbert. So that makes him stud franchise QB?

Also, did you not see the defense basically stare down Freeman in “WTF are you doing” after the first few drives?

The defense was catching so much flack last year from Freeman delusional supporters. But they failed to see Freeman didn’t help them much either turning it over and not getting any first downs.

Freeman has done nothing but put himself in the negative spotlight missing meetings, missing team photo, missed his own camp.

I don’t know what’s going on with him. He seems like a calm and cool dude, but he’;s not an NFL starter. He looks losty and uncomfortanle.

‘Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of our Lives’

  27. Walter Says:

Lol I can’t wait to watch us lose with Glennon, it’s going to be so fun watching Couch Fan and the “Realist” try and make “excuses” for Glennon’s struggles.

  28. J 2.0 Says:

Freeman looks scatter brained these days and flustered. Most people who do lots of blow usually do.

  29. Tampabaybucfan Says:

This is garbage journalism…..where is the source? So, Freeman oversleeps to raise his trade stock?
Joe, Freeman has other viable options…how about lighting a fire under his own azz and winning?

As for Schiano being in trouble…that is an even bigger joke. THe Glazers have laid it all on the line with Dominick & Schiano and are not about to risk that without a reasonble chance to succeed.

I have been a Freeman supporter but his actions don’t look like a leader.

We simply need to win if we have to with our defense & Doug Martin….Freeman will be irrelevant.

  30. Buck Rogers Says:

This is starting to sound like a soap opera! Can 4pm get here any quicker!

Lol I can’t wait to watch us lose with Glennon, it’s going to be so fun watching Couch Fan and the “Realist” try and make “excuses” for Glennon’s struggles.

That’s ok. We’ll then just get into position to get Bridgewater or Hundley in 2014 then be set for the next 10 years.

  32. Walter Says:

    @J 2.0

Lol enjoy your jokes while you can, the only joke left in Tampa when Freeman leaves will be the team itself.

  33. Raphael Says:

    Sry joe, my bad

  34. Mark Sanchez's Hairband Says:

Glennon wont suck any worse than Freeman does.

  35. Walter Says:

Lol I sure hope so. 🙂

  36. ATLBucsFan Says:

Joe’s got it right. None of the comments from Canfora make sense at this time in the season. We are 0-1, not 0-16 for crying out loud! I think some in the media are upset that Schiano gives them nothing to write about, much like Belichick, and until Schiano wins big time and frequently, they will try to move him along, get him fired, etc. The old ‘you scratch my back, I scratch yours’ mentality which Schiano could care less about.

  37. Bucfan4life7 Says:

I’m not going to lie, Josh Freeman could do wonders for the Vikings. With AP in the backfield Josh Freeman can throw those deep balls off the play action and the Vikings have a really good TE in Kyle Rudolph. Vikings also have a pretty good defense that won’t soil his fourth quarter comebacks.

  38. Walter Says:

    @Mark Sanchez’s Hairband

Oh, we’re definitely gonna find out, that’s for sure. Lol

At least it’ll be funny to watch

  39. Raphael Says:

Mark Sanchez …want to bet ?

For the record I am a buc fan and will cheer and support Glennon…he has a great arm just can’t run at all .

  40. RBellBuc Says:

Freeman will hoist the Lombardi one day. Just not in Tampa Bay. The worst sports town in America.

  41. chris Says:

What is different in minnesota than Tampa? Even though Doug Martin isn’t as good as AP, he gets the same treatmant. Why? Because defenses aren’t scared of Josh Freeman, just like they aren’t as of Christian Pondner. Freeman doesn’t have the ability to look defenders off or look at reads 2 and 3. Locks onto one side of the field. It’s pathetic almost lol.

So why would they trade for the exact same QB who’s no threat, with lesser talent at WR than what Tampa has, when Pondner executed well down the stretch to get them to the playoffs?

  42. Walter Says:

These idiots don’t realize how solid a team the Vikings have. Ponder is what’s holding them back, I’ve seen sooooooooooooo many Vikings fans that say how much they wish Freeman was their QB, they see his production and know that it would take them to the next level.

  43. RBellBuc Says:

^^^^Just stay in denial, at this point it don’t really f’n matter. You did your job.

  44. Raphael Says:

Rbellbuc …agreed but Dominic is a smart guy …they have about 3 former head coaches out of the league leading 32 coaches here .

  45. Raphael Says:

Rbellbuc…don’t give the trolls any credit’s all Schiano’s doing ..( or undoing)

  46. joseph mamma Says:

Hey if Schiano needs to get rid of Freeman and Dominik to turn this franchise around, he has my full support. Go Bucs!

  47. Bucfan4life7 Says:

Exactly, Josh Freeman isn’t a elite QB right now and maybe he’ll never be but I have no doubt with the Vikings that he can take the Vikings to another level.

  48. Walter Says:

Ponder is PURE GARBAGE. You guys talk about playoffs as if whatever QB gets there is good, but you’re wrong. Ponder can’t even compare to Freeman, and the Vikings know it too. All they need is a good QB, and they will compete in the NFC North. And I know you think Freeman sucks because he hasn’t taken us to the playoffs, but Freeman IS a good QB. Also, the Vikings have a strong O-Line, Adrian Peterson, Greg Jennings, Kyle Rudolph, and their defense is better than ours.

  49. Joe Says:

Ponder is PURE GARBAGE. You guys talk about playoffs as if whatever QB gets there is good

Please name a good quarterback who has never suited up for a playoff game.

Joe can only think of Archie Manning. That was, what, 30 years ago?

  50. Joe Says:

Josh Freeman isn’t a elite QB right now and maybe he’ll never be but I have no doubt with the Vikings that he can take the Vikings to another level.

If he (hasn’t) done it with the Bucs, with arguably better weapons — Freeman has better receivers and Doug Martin is no slouch — then what makes anyone think he could do better with the Vikings?

  51. ShutTheBucUp Says:

Wow, what a joke this team is becoming. Freaking TMZ soap opera. Enough jockeying, just do what you’re going to do, and lets get back to football for christs sake.

  52. Tye Says:

Well if this turns out to be true then this could be best for both parties involved…
JF can go to the Jags and compete to start and disappoint their fans with his roller coaster ways or maybe even a backup for the Packers (just throwing out scenarios) and The Bucs can get back to their most important and greatest need, finding that genuine Franchise Qb they have never had… Maybe it’s MG and maybe not but the ONLY way to know with certainty is to play him!

  53. Dp4life22 Says:

Buc fans you make yourself out to look so football ignorant with your counts of getting rid of coach. It’s one game idiots !!! You would have fired jimmy Johnson when he was with cowboys. Get a grip people it one game and last year we saw the best offense we have ever had and a bad Db backfield that was full off practice squad players it was all that bad. All we had to do was improve defense and we did. The problem now is not coach its a QB that gets scared under pressure, like the jets DL told everyone. When josh panics he stares down his receiver the rest of the game ( how hard is that to defend ) love you passion buc fans but its 1 game

    Probably for the Butte Buttplugs!

  55. Walter Says:

Lol Freeman is entering his fifth year, he has plenty of years ahead of him. If he fails to make the playoffs in his career, yeah, he will end up being another sub par QB. But don’t act like the fact Freeman hasn’t made the playoffs YET means he can’t make it EVER. I expected better from you Joe. That was a WEAK argument.

  56. Raphael Says:

@ Joe….the Vikings defense is obviously better than ours…just like Freeman would of won vs the jets except our defense lost it…same as 4 games last year.

LOL and what the Bucs have nothing surrounding Freeman? Martin, Penn,. Jackson Williams, Clayborn, David, Revis and Goldson are All Pros/Pro Bowlers. Nicks is injured but is better when he comes back.

  58. RBellBuc Says:

I don’t live in Butte moron.

  59. chris Says:

If he can’t do it in Tampa, what makes you think he’d do it in a just as tough divison, if not tougher, NFC North With less talent, minus AP. However Doug Martin isn’t a slouch either.

  60. Walter Says:

If Freeman plays for another team, it’ll be as a starter. Sorry to break it to ya.

  61. chris Says:

Besides the TE, what situation does Minnesota have better than Tampa surrounding Freeman on offense? Yes AP is best RB in the business, but Martin is a top 5 RB in this league as well.

    You Freeman fans amaze me.

  64. RCS Says:

I’m sorry but if he has to go he has to go. I am going to support the coach on this.
Does anyone remember what this team looked like that last time they had a “players” coach? Didn’t work out to well did it? They need someone who is going to coach not be their friend.
If Freeman doesn’t throw 4ints for 4 games in a row last season this would have been at least a 10 win team AT LEAST !….

  65. Walter Says:

    The Bucs have no TE

The Bucs have no slot receiver

    The Bucs have an over-paid, under-achieving O-Line.

The Bucs defense is not as good as the Vikes D.

@ Joe….the Vikings defense is obviously better than ours…just like Freeman would of won vs the jets except our defense lost it…same as 4 games last year.

You are delusional. Our defense gave Freeman in the offense every opportunity early in the game and in the 3rd quarter to put it away with TO and Field position. Josh decided to throw an INT to spark plug the Jets offense in Tampa Territory.

  67. Bucnjim Says:

RCS…..Didn’t watch the games too close last year did you?

  68. Walter Says:

Lol believe it or not, you’re one of the reasons I’m going to enjoy the losses. You, and several others, want Glennon? 🙂 you get your wish. I’ll enjoy watching you guys be WRONG, just like you guys were enjoying Freeman struggling.

  69. chris Says:

Who’s the vikings slot WR? He’s a first round pick but hes not ready and is a rookie.

Tell me, even if Freman had a TE and Slot WR, he wouldnt’t even see him open as he locks onto Jackson or Williams first target.

  70. HarriMags Says:

This kind of irresponsible journalism by LaCanfora needs to stop! There is no shred of tangible evidence that the irresponsible journalist points to at all. This is conjecture, pure and simple! Of course no one will do the research in the mainstream media–the story will blow up.

  71. chris Says:

Watch the All 22 access film and tell me when Freeman looks off defenders or doesn’t lock onto a WR

  72. Walter Says:

And then when Freeman took the lead with 30 seconds left, the D choked. AGAIN. Remember that???

  73. chris Says:

LOL I love the Freeman supporters who claim Freeman is this super star. LOL. The best excuse was the reason Freeman misses a team photo is because it was scheduled at 6:30 am on Labor Day.

  74. Walter Says:

    Hahaha @Chris

We’ll just have to see how it goes buddy. I know one thing, Freeman gets the better end of the deal if he gets shipped to Minny. He gets to join a PLAYOFF TEAM. Not our joke of a Franchise.

  75. Buc1987 Says:

It defies logic as to why the Bucs would have even picked up Goldson and Revis if they thought Freeman could not be fixed.
They might have been pulling a Culverhouse type move, by bringing in 2 big names like Goldson and Revis just to sell tickets though as that could be the only reason why I think that they did it. Freeman getting traded midseason just seems nutty to me though. I think even though Freeman has a lot of haters, he also still has a lot of hopeful supporters that bought season tickets for the whole pie and that might piss some fans off. It’s like paying for a buffet and when you get there one of the main items is not there anymore. That means you did not get what you paid for. I know I bought season tickets for the whole buffet.

Raphael Freeman will go before Schiano you can bet your house on it. If Freeman is supposed to be at a meeting at 6:00 and Freeman shows up at 6:01 you can bet your as* that it won’t fly with a Schiano type coach, even if your last name is Manning.

I’m done in here for the rest of the day, because I’m leaving for the game in 20 minutes. Every analyst on NFL Network picked the Saints to win. NFL fans picked the Saints as well with a 93% vote for the Saints. Let’s hope the NFL loving country is wrong today. Enjoy the game if your there. If your not there, enjoy the game in the AC. I know I will be baking like a potato.

  76. BucsFanInChina Says:

WOW!!!! It is amazing what is passed along as “reporting” these days. Vague statements and speculation is all what this article is. Look at the title of his piece in the first place: “Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman likely to seek a trade”. In other words, I have nothing to back it up, but this is what I think! What a joke. A single win over the Saints will shut these “experts” up. Let’s do it Josh.

  77. bucrightoff Says:

Do we really want a guy this mentally weak on our team anyways? A little adversity and he’s crying his way out of town? And I ask every time, but does anyone really think he’s leaving the weapons he has here and being better in Cleveland? Dare to dream I guess.

  78. Robert Freithoffer Says:

This is hilarious journalism. A piece of the team, a player, is pissed off for…….uh……what? Not being a Captain? Josh, stop it. You were handed the job. Go out and earn it. Be a class act and avoid all of the journalists antagonist aporoach to make a story so they have something to write about instead of them being creative enough to use their own brain and write a story that readers want to read.
Buc fans, chill out y’all. The team is in transition from complete overhall after Gruden to where they are now. The top front office is stabilized, coaching is stabilized, and the QB is not being extended for a reason. Deal with it.

  79. Bucnjim Says:

Here’s the list of excuses we’ll hear tomorrow if the Bucs win:
    It was Doug Martin
    It was the Defense
It was Vincent Jacksons great catch
It was Mike Williams great catch
    It was Luck
    It was a slippery field
    It was a dry field
It was Pee Wee Herman Dressed as Freeman.
I’m sure we can get even more creative……………….

  80. lightningbuc Says:

Peruse the archives and find where I said “can’t wait to watch the Bucs lose with Freeman”. Actually, don’t bother cuz it doesn’t exist. All I’ve ever done is talk about how he sucks, but I’ve never been happy about it and hoped the Bucs would lose because of him. You are quite the fan Walt!

  81. Raphael Says:

Chris …how stupid are you ? Very apparently . Check the Vikings defense rankings last year…# 4. , I will help you …

I won’t even bother with you cause your too dumb, just like other trolls here.

  82. Tye Says:

Don’t be suprised if he never starts again…. JF has had plenty of chances and has been given plenty of time to be somebody in this league and failed…. The NFL is a business at the end of the day and only the desperate teams take a chance on a QB with such a losing record and bad play… Tebow isn’t mocked because of his wins and playoff appearance!

  83. Walter Says:

According to ESPN Stats & Info, last week the Vikings faced the NFL’s highest percentage of eight-man defensive fronts (36). Ponder compiled a quarterback rating of 0.4 in those situations. The rest of the NFL’s quarterbacks, when faced with eight-man fronts, threw five touchdown passes, zero interceptions and compiled a 51.1 rating.

We’ll welcome Freeman with open arms in Minnesota! Get it done Rick!

See? Vikings fans are already drooling lol

  84. bucrightoff Says:

Christian Ponder does not have a 4 game run like the one Josh is on (3TDs, 13 turnovers). And the Vikes have Matt Cassel. And the Bucs have no leverage. And Freemans agent knows he has to be traded now because the QB class is rich (Bridgewater, Boyd, Hundley, Manziel, Mariota, Fales, Carr), and Freeman is unlikely to be guaranteed a starting job.

  85. Pruritus Ani Says:

GIven this and Stroud’s article, there has to be something going on behind the scenes. It appears info is leaking out by the drip….God help us if they lose today as the spigot will be wide open and we’ll be hearing all sorts of things.

Curious thing though.. There are a lot of 0-1 teams out there and this is the only team with so many rumors circulating. The info is coming from somewhere and I guess we have to question why are there so many undermining forces at work.

Personally, I don’t care who the QB is as long as they win. The drama surrounding the team although intriguing is counterproductive.

  86. bucrightoff Says:

Apologies to AJ McCaron who also looks really good.

  87. lightningbuc Says:

The JFro Jock Sniffers Mob is showing their true colors today. Hoping the Bucs suck if JFro is bid good riddance? Telling us you can’t wait for Glennon to be a loser? Wow – you guys are true Bucs “real fans”!

  88. Walter Says:

You’re dead wrong dude, Freeman will be a hot commodity in FA if he even gets there, teams might not want him to hit the open market.

I’m going to be honest, I love the Bucs, I don’t like Schiano, I hated Raheem, and the fans on this site have pissed me off to the point that losing a bunch of games this year wouldn’t bother me at all, seeing the Glennon Mob squirm would make me happy, especially considering THEY RAN OUR STARTING QB OUT OF TOWN!!!

  89. Splengo Says:

Good for you Josh. This is what I’ve been hoping for. Even rats have enough sense to abandon a sinking ship. You go boy! I mean literally go. Get away as far as you can. Let Schiano fight it out with the conveniently invisible Mark Dominik. Schiano will lose this one because no way will the Glazers part ways with the keeper of the coffers for a knucklehead that charges the victory formation.

  90. Bucnjim Says:

What will make me laugh is if the Bucs whip the crap out of the Saints…Everything else right now is irrelevant.

  91. tom in st augustine Says:

Raheem Morris is the main reason Freeman is on this team. Rockstar ‘drafted’ Freeman bc he trusted Raheems opinion on Freeman. Its misleading to say Mark Dominick ‘drafted’ Freeman without saying the other part of the story. With that said, I hope Freeman lights it up today and we get the W! Go Bucs!

  92. Couch Fan Says:

I for one hope this is true. I wont bash Freeman, but he just can’t get the job done here, if he can somewhere else, more power to him.

  93. Horice Says:

Here’s a GREAT question for the BLIND JF5 bashers. How many NFL starting QBs threw for 4k last year? How many Bucs QB’s did it? I’ll wait for your answer.. Did Tampa Super Bowl winning Brad Johnson do it? But hey, it’s impossible to win a Superbowl with JF5.. SMDH! You fantasy football loving, never played a down of meaningful football in YOUR ENTIRE LIFE, always in love with the backup QB, not even born in this community, always comparing athletes to you and your pathetic life, desperately need to get a life instead of complaining about how one should live his (JF5 not making it to a photo shoot, and possibly having off the field issues), need to STHU!

  94. Couch Fan Says:

As I said before Glennon will reunite the fan base in my opinion. If not we move on and draft a good QB. This isn’t the end, its only the beginning. Now we can attempt to win again. Are you Buc Fans or Freeman fans? Lol…. And I’m labeled as a hater.

  95. bucrightoff Says:

It should be obvious even though this report is crap (Joe is right, there are too many factors that make a trade silly, unless someone is doing a sign and trade) that Freeman has the next 3 games to save his job. 1-3 or 0-4 and I think we’ll see Glennon. After 4 years you know whether you’re keeping the guy. If they aren’t, you gotta see what Glennon has because as I mentioned this is a QB rich draft class and if Glennon is obviously not the guy the Bucs have to target someone.

  96. Andrew 1 Says:

I want to wait and see what Freeman has to say about the trade because as we all know that question is going to be asked to him by the media any day now. if he tries to avoid the subject by saying “no comment, next question” I would be inclined to believe that its true, but if he says ” no I did not ask to be traded” then I will believe that. just depends on what he has to say about it.

  97. tmaxcon Says:

I am done with Schiano… too much controversy…. promote Sullivan before the bucs lose both a Franchise QB and a Solid Offensive Coordinator. So much optimism this off season and comes crashing down in a 10 day period. The freeman haters think he is a Roller Coaster what about the entire organization over the last few months up and down. It’s the Bengals South…

  98. Couch Fan Says:

I am very curious as to why we have not heard 1 single thing from Dom about all of this. Not even an attempt to squash all this controversy… Very odd and makes me wonder what is really going on.

  99. lightningbuc Says:

“never played a down of meaningful football in YOUR ENTIRE LIFE,”

I asked you earlier in the week, but you never answered, so I’ll ask again. Since you’re so much more knowledgeable about FB than the rest of us, when did you play in the NFL?

  100. Splengo Says:

Scares you to death doesn’t it Bucrightoff ? LaCanfora is a credible reporter and Joe knows it. He has not made this up out of whole cloth. This is the beginning of the end for Schiano and 2014 name changes for CouchFan and Bucrightoff. Lol

  101. Tyler Says:

    Both of them gone preferably

  102. Raphael Says:

    Horice ….spot on bro !

  103. bucrightoff Says:

I wish we were Bengals south! Then we’d be coming off back to back playoff visits!

  104. Walter Says:

    @Couch Fan

Beginning of winning, or beginning of REBUILDING? Lol

    So naive.

  105. Splengo Says:

Josh Freeman’s agent is refusing to comment on the LaCanfora nuclear detonation. What does that tell you?

  106. arealbucsfan Says:

    Lets bring in SULLY!!

  107. bucrightoff Says:

I’m not going anywhere. I’m a fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, not the Tampa Bay Buccaneers only if Josh Freeman is the guy. I’m so remarkably indifferent to who the starting QB is so long as he wins and produces. Freeman has 4 years that show he does win, and produce…but he also loses and makes costly mistakes. If you put most starting QBs on this team with this talent on offense there wouldn’t be a huge dropoff (likely no dropoff) from Freeman.

  108. Couch Fan Says:

If we got rid of SCHIANO, then that would be a total rebuild you idiot. Yes, we would have to get rid of most of the coaches so the new coach can have HIS staff in place.

And no SULLY is not the answer. Can’t believe you idiots sit here and bash Glennon and say he isnt the answer without having ever seen him taking one meaningful snap… but your answer is to replace Schiano with Sully who has NO HC experience…. how does that make any sense?

You can replace Freeman. and not have to rebuild. Yes. yes you can.

    Agian, I’m the hater? Lol

“Blind faith. Just do it because thinking is to hard.”

  109. Walter Says:

That Freeman is smart and wants to win, and is tired of being blamed for EVERYTHING.

  110. Walter Says:

    @Couch Fan

When we’re rebuilding in a year or two, I’ll remind you of that post lol

  111. Couch Fan Says:

I doubt it Walter. I got the feeling you will move along to wherever Free’s jock strap goes.

  112. Walter Says:

    @Couch Fan

Nope, born and raised in Tampa Bay. I’ll never stop loving the Buccaneers.

I’ll definitely keep an eye on Freeman though, I don’t HATE THE GUY like you do.

  113. RealityCheck Says:

@Horice – 11 QBs passed for over 4,000 yards last season so passing for 4,000 yards is hardly an accomplishment to hang your hat on. I don’t know why anyone cares about franchise records. The only thing it shows is how terrible our franchise has been all these years. The guy we’re facing today has passed for over 4,000 yards for the last 7 seasons.

What is concerning about Josh is his decision making and accuracy. Only Sanchez, Luck, and Henne had worse completion percentages than Josh’s 54.8 last year.

I’ll be at the game cheering for Josh Freeman and the ENTIRE TEAM to pull out a win. We can definitely be a playoff team WITH Josh IF he plays consistently and limits turnovers. He’s good enough to win with a great defense and solid run game but let’s not pretend that he’s a great QB.

  114. deathaneers Says:

If Freeman does not want to be here he is not a Buccaneer MAN. Let him walk the plank. I am sick and tired of losing every year. Know it makes since for him sitting on the bench and pouting like Cam Newton. The sad thing is that we have no other good option for QB…Glennon is not ready!

  115. LUVMYBUCS Says:

I’ve never put any stock in any Intel from Jason La Canfora;Terrible news about his wife though

  116. bucrightoff Says:

You people acting like Freeman gets all the blame for everything don’t pay much attention huh? He gets the blame for his terrible finish last year because who else can you blame for back to back 4 INT games (including against the worst defense of all-time), but the defense let him down consistently last year. Last week the defense provides as good as can possibly be asked and Josh cannot do anything. He deserves the blame, not Lavonte who played lights out 99% of the game.

And if Freeman can’t take a little heat, why do we want him? Eli Manning faced adversity, and didn’t cry and complain. So did Drew Brees, who didn’t cry and complain. But Josh wants out now? Sorry, if he’s that mentally weak I don’t want a guy like that anyways.

  117. Walter Says:

You don’t want him? That’s fine. Enjoy the double digit losses AND head coaching change.

  118. Couch Fan Says:

I hate him as a professional QB. Yes. because he sucks. His record and play on field suggests it. If he goes on to have success somewhere else. Great for him. But it’s just not working here… sorry you can’t seem to accept my opinion… But I assure you not all is lost. I believe in Schiano and Dom to get us a competent QB to win with. GO BUCS!!

You see how that works? I dont blame everyone else and I am looking forward to the future… But aye I’m a hater right?

  119. Couch Fan Says:

You don’t want him? That’s fine. Enjoy the double digit losses AND head coaching change.

Yea because none of that happened with Freeman here. Lol

  120. Walter Says:

    @Couch Fan

Lol I admire you “blind faith” in Schiano to find us an elite QB.

    Good luck with that.

  121. Walter Says:

The guy destroys the team and Couch Fan is excited lol

  122. bucrightoff Says:

I want Josh right now. But do I want him next year? At the moment, no he hasn’t shown me he deserves an extension. And if the Bucs don’t plan on offering him one, why not see what you have in Glennon if you get to 0-4, when your season is, at least historically speak, 98% likely over. If they really don’t plan on resigning Freeman, I’d rather go with Glennon because if he sucks, then we’re in position to get one of the top QBs, and if Glennon shows he can be the guy, whats wrong with that?

  123. Couch Fan Says:

Lol your the last I want to hear talking about blind faith.

Giving a guy more than 1 year to prove his worth, is not blind faith. That’s only fair. Wouldn’t you say considering you have giving Freeman 4+ years now? And he’s still losing… Who is the one with blind faith?

Your reaching buddy. It’s ok I understand your little freemanite heart is breaking with this news. Keep your chin up buddy. It’ll get better.

  124. Walter Says:

    @Couch Fan

You’ve got me all wrong, I’m not heart broken. I’m happy. 🙂 Freeman is doing what’s best for him, and when Schiano gets fired, hopefully the next guy doesn’t lose his “trust, belief, and accountability” with his players. Lol

  125. Couch Fan Says:

Good then we both are happy!! Start Glennon! GO BUCS!!

  126. Walter Says:

    Yup, Go Bucs.

As for Glennon, just do your best, rooting for ya if you get the nod to start. Not expecting much though.

  127. PRBucFan Says:

It’s so freaking hilarious to watch all the haters and Freemanites turn on coach Schiano after only his first game of the season.

If this is true good riddance, we don’t need a quitter on our team anyways, bu bye.

“Freeman’s untouchable, let’s crucify the HC after an 0-1 record in his second season!!!!”

As long as Freeman is here someone else will always be the goat in his place. IMO

I could give a rats ass if you agree.

  128. SeanyMac in SC Says:

Gee, my sources say that Warden Godell gets fired at the end of the year. Who are my sources your ask?…… me taking pot shots at what ever gets the most attention.

Cmon Man. This sort of reporting just seems irresponsible (not your’s Joe, I know your post is merely a response to just whats floating out there in the media)

  129. PRBucFan Says:

It’s also ironic all offseason the people that didn’t support their teams QB weren’t “real fan” and were called out for being negative.

1 game in and we must have alot (many of the same ones that criticized others for not supporting Free) of people who aren’t “true fans” not supporting their HC, full of negativity.

    Very Ironic indeed lol.

The media is doing it’s job, blowing things out of proportion and getting public reactions. Schiano is a lot safer than Free is, that’s for sure. I’m sure the Glazers believe in Schiano and are willing to give him a full season to see what he can do in year 2.

  130. Biff Barker Says:

This team needs a spark. If Free cant do it soon he’ll be a lame duck. You pull the rug out and go with Glennon.
Not buying the story about Dom being undermined by Schiano. Tension? Sure. We’re losing.

  131. PRBucFan Says:

And if you think Sully can be an effective HC, you must be in agreement with his offensive play calling lately?

Cause you know HE is the one calling the plays on offense, NOT Schiano.

  132. Tiny Tim Says:

    @ Joe

You lose more and more credibility when you say things like Freeman has more weapons to work with yet he did not make the playoffs like Ponder. That is true as evident by the #9 ranked offense last year. But Ponder has a defense which the bucs did not. You can not state one without the other. Also, Ponder only threw 18 tds with 2900 yrds. He started this season with 1 td and 3 picks. Surely Freeman is better and if you do not see that then yes your credibility is crap!!! BTW…..Ponder has not taking a playoff snap either. He was hurt for the playoffs. Credibility?

Wins and losses and leadership are not part of the stats geek culture. Joe realizes you and others don’t get it. Disagreeing without needlessly ripping Joe’s credibility is one of the rules around here. Thank you. If you don’t like, you are free to leave. –Joe

  133. Sharon Says:

This is some funny stuff watching the freemanite implosion. I could not be happier. Finally we will see progression as opposed to regression!! Walt or 87 is gonna owe me money, but I forgot which one LOL

  134. Tiny Tim Says:

Freeman haters have been saying the same thing all offseason. You are one of them. Hoping freeman/buucs would suck in order for Glennon to play. That is not a scenario any buc fan should want to see. But yet the Glennon Mob has screamed for it all offseason.

  135. buc4lyfe Says:

People ignore the facts because they don’t like Freeman. Schiano did screw up 4 games Freeman would have gotten credit for. It’s funny how Freeman sucks for three quarters but in the 4th when we’re down and Freeman runs the offense he plays better. Freeman doesn’t have to get a contract this year. Dominick could easily buy more time with the franchise tag.

  136. Tackleblockwin Says:

Really starting to think Schiano must go. As a HC you must do better at communicating with media, players and coaches. His communication skills are the real problem here IMO.

  137. PRBucFan Says:

Understand Free is out of “excuses”, even if your latest one is Schiano

  138. Jordon Says:

I’ve been a huge Josh supporter for the last 4 years, but I’m beginning to think that he may need a change of scenery and the Bucs may need a change at QB. With the weapons we have, we just shouldn’t have such an inconsistent signal caller. I don’t think the Bucs trade Freeman unless they get a high pick for him ( and I don’t know who would give it.), but if they did get it, this could be a good learning experience for Glennon.(or the Bucs could try to trade for another guy too…Mallet?) Sad to say, but this has all the signs of a really tough season in Tampa unless we can get our QB situation settled and settled quickly!

  139. Tiny Tim Says:

    @ Joe

Like LaConfora said, the bucs have given up 10 fourth quarter leads since Freeman has been here. Four times he rallied the team late only to have the defense screw up. You add those to his win total and the bucs would have been in the playoffs at least 2 years and Jfree’s leadership is not in question at this point. As many has pointed out, winning cures all warts. Funny how the perception can change. No need to get all defensive.

  140. Buccaneer79 Says:

1st of all, let’s pretend there is truth to Freeman wanting traded through “league sources” or whoever, then it would make sense that Schiano is just a power-hungry kind of guy. So, he throws Freeman under the bus & essentially the entire team because they all told us what we think they were really trying to say this week. All that is true? Then I am out because this is all bull & I have better things to do than watch as The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Turn. Unfortunately, nothing surprises me much anymore, so this all could be true in which case, like I said, I do NOT care anymore.

However, there is still a FOOTBALL game to be played today. Football is the only sport I watch anymore. Hey, I got a great idea why don’t they just put Glennon in today to start that way they can lose 56-0, instead of 41-0, like their last meeting. I said it before if Glennon has such a grip on this offense, why the hell isn’t he already starting? If he starts, this season is OVER, guys!

Ok it would not be the 1st time a player and/or coach has not been honest with the media, but this report would definitely make them both outright liars. I’ve read Schiano & teammates defending Freeman & Freeman admitting he felt that the captains deserved to be captains. Freeman is better than Ponder & Glennon put together right now IN THIS OFFENSE, but call me stupid & crazy. I got a feeling the way the media has blown this up that somebody or some people (“league sources”) hates Schiano, Freeman or both, or hates the Bucs in general, which does what? Causes all the fans & “fans” to divide (sounds familiar, like our own country), which is what I refuse to continue to be a part of.

I will watch the game first, then make my own decision. But face it, this team could have Peyton Manning and still lose to the Saints. But to put Glennon in right now is a guaranteed loss for the Bucs. Any given Sunday, right?

  141. MadMax Says:

Man, this is going to be a long season….

  142. Couch Fan Says:

wait what? So IF Free really does want a trade… the only logical conclusion that you can come up with is that Schiano is power hungry? LMAO I need to put on my high boots because the sh!t is getting high in here!

  143. Buccaneer79 Says:

Way to sense the sarcasm Couch Fan. But your point is exactly right. Maybe that should have been my exact comment. It is all BS.

  144. Deminion Says:

Forget the drama I just wanna win… Dnt care how or who

  145. Raphael Says:

So Freemans dad is his agent ….oh snap ! Lol at thinking you can mess with millionaire athletes ….

What fools Tampa would be to let a franchise Qb leave …..if only he played defense too

  146. PRBucFan Says:

To request a trade would make him a quitter in my book.

But you know what they say, if you can’t handle the fire, get the hell out of the kitchen.

Would be so nice to finally be able to move on, if that’s the case.

Growing pains will be expected, but atleast it will be something new and fresh.

The Freemanites can go and root for whichever team he does end up on and be “real fans” lol.

  147. Pewter_Power Says:

Freeman would go somewhere else and look like an MVP then the Bucs would be the laughing stock all over again.

  148. buc4lyfe Says:

Post game conference defined everything going wrong this season. Schiano the the qb and receivers under the bus. Had nothing bad to say about HIS defense or lavonte David. Feel how you want about Josh Freeman but schiano is more to blame because of these facts….
    1. His team didn’t come ready to play
    2. Mike Sullivan had an awful gameplan
    3. We allowed a rookie 80.6 passer rating
    4. Dropped passes, missed throws
    5. Awful line play
    6. Stupid defensive scheme
Freeman was inaccurate which is all he should be accountable for because regardless of how awful EVERYONE played, at the end of the game the offense got it together and took the lead. If the defense didn’t lose us that game we would be talking about bad quarterback play but a comeback victory

  149. buc4lyfe Says:

Schiano implosion watch has now commenced …

  151. PRBucFan Says:

Sorry, excuses will not count 4 squat this season 😉

And LOL where’s that NFL MVP been in 4 years going on 5?

I’ll pay you a nice sum of money if that ever happens.

Make sure you go pull for the team he goes to too.

  152. BucsQcCity Says:

Ponder pick returned for td just raised Freeman value. Hope we get at least 2nd round pick and maybe a conditional 1st round if vikings makes the playoffs or more. They had like 3 picks in first round last year and they can afford to skip 1 year to win now. I was very critical of Freeman and he has its share of problem but Schiano is clearly committed to let the team implode.

When you come out of college without a proven record, you just can’t expect the get all the decisional power in a NFL franchise.

Time to bring back Lovie Smith.

  153. Chris Says:

you call me an idiot, yet you have no hard facts to back anything up do you?

How come the only issue we’re hearing, out of 53 other guys, is how unhappy Freeman is with Schiano?

How come everytime I ask you guys to watch the all 22 access of Freeman and point out his flaws, everyone points it out on the defense or the oline.

Listen, I’ve said it before, in a team game, everyone makes errors. In this league, its’ an offensive driven league. On the field Seattle and San Fransisco have both the 2 best defenses, but Niners gave up 28 points last week. That means you need a QB to score in this league. Josh cannot do it. CAN”T! People want to say Pondner is terrible and might be true. But you’re saying Josh is a major upgrade in Minnesota? Lol.

Minnesota’s defense, who was ranked 4th last year, gave up how many points last week? Even the best defense (see San Fransisco and Seattles) can give up 30 points to the best offense. What differs? It’s called the QB.

Tampa doesnt have one. It’s obvious. Everyone here wants to place blame on the rest of the team.

    If we lose….
    – It’s the coaching staff
    – The oline
    – Lavonte David’s penaltiy (whihc was BS)
    – We don’t have a slot WR

Listen, I bet Aaron Rodgers would love to switch Offensive lines with Freeman any day. I bet Tom Brady would love Vincent Jackson/Doug Martin/Mike Williams every day too.

Lets stop making excuses for what’s around him. And start realizing that it’s Josh who is the problem. It’s not the coaching staff that stares down WRs. It’s not the oline who throws into triple coverage. It’s not the defense that throws at the feet of WRs or double clutches and hesitates.

  154. Splengo Says:

You guys are looking at the forest and all you see is trees. Get beyond playing the dozens and think about what is alleged to have happened. Why is this story leaked 3 hours before game time and Freeman’s agent Eric Burkhardt is refusing to comment on the story? I think it is a pre-emptive strike. What if Freeman has been told that if he struggles he will be benched in favor of Glennon. If that happens, then his agent can say they expected it, hence the call for a trade. If everything is fine and by miracle we win, the they can deny all knowledge or spin it as a misunderstanding. There is something to this report.

  155. Christopher Says:

How the hell is relaying what other GMs are ASSUMING, & then assuming what Josh might be thinking, filed under a REPORT?!?

  156. K_bassuka Says:

What’s to be expected from a Singano ran team… Lol, common Dominic grow some balls and fire the guy before he sinks the ship

  157. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

“Joe has to be honest. This has so many angles — without one quote, mind you — that Joe is hesitant to swallow this whole.”

    I agree.

When is accountability going to return to reporting? No way I believe any of this, but you know what? Because he said it every national and local media guy is going to run with it. True or not. Especially Rick Stroud and PFT.

  158. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Splengo Says:
“What if Freeman has been told that if he struggles he will be benched in favor of Glennon.”

What if horseshoes were hand grenades?

The media lives in a world that assumes what ifs are fact. Doesn’t mean we have to.

Schiano is the one paid to gameplan the offense. That’s not on Schiano’s head.

The dropped passes and missed throws? Also on Sully.

  160. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Sorry, I meant Sully is paid to gameplan offense.

  161. Frer(Agent)Man Says:

Geez, there going to start showing our games on the soap channel. This is some girlie ass drama ish here.
Seems the foundation of the bucs organization goes WAAAAY below Freemans struggles…
    We suck.

  162. Chris Says:

Listen, I do thnk there is something up with this organization. But I haven’;t heard many complaints about schiano from other players.

  163. Chris Says:

Everyone here makes Sully out to be this all world coach. I still think his play calling comes into question as well. Remember, Sully was NOT his first choice.

  164. Bobby M. Says:

Freeman wants out because he’s about to be benched and it will cost him millions in free agency. Don’t be shocked if the mole in this entire fiasco is Dominick. There’s definitely a power play in affect as none of Dominicks picks before Schiano arrived have been worth their weight. I also wouldn’t be shocked if Bowers is leaking info to the media since his demotion. Which side do you think Bowers is on, I doubt its Schiano’s. Also, Dominick built this team of dysfunction and the guy should be held responsible for the results. In classic Dominick form, he’s saving face by working the media to create the impression that the Bucs would be a winner if Freeman and Schiano could co-exist.

  165. buc4lyfe Says:

    Couch fan

You really are the armpit of the bay masquerading as a fan. What makes you think you know glennon based on what you saw in the preseason against alot of players that didn’t make an nfl roster. Bashing Freeman is bashing the Bucs hello he’s under center for us, I remember everyone begging for him to start when we had leftwich and J Johnson.. so we’re gonna assume this rookie we don’t know is better….everytime you post something about glennon you choose your eyes, cross your fingers and pray to the god of skinny punks he can be successful

  167. Chris Says:

I’m going to continue to support Freeman as long as he’s our QB. However, I’m not going to sit here and be delusional either. When he stinks, and he does, I call it like I see it. Some Bucs fan here will praise him if he has a good game. We’ve seen 57 starts of Freeman. We know he implodes more times than dominates.

The last time we played the Saints, 4 INTs 41-0 route.

Hey Freeman, man up and show some balls today. Ball out and things will get better. You sit there pout, scream and cry, no one will want you.

  168. Tony Says:

Josh has only been pampered his entire career and as soon as things get hot he bails. Raheem was his buddy from college, then his coach in the pros. Just over this guy, move on already. This is dragging the entire team down. The more and more I hear the more and more I think he is a cancer.

  169. Biff Barker Says:

Buc4Lyfe, Walter, Raphael, Horice, etc., all seem to embrace the 4k yard stat, but what about all the negative yards from picks and unnecessary sacks?
This team has talent to hang 40 points a game.

  170. Raphael Says:

Chris …? How often does the defense implode ?

  171. Raphael Says:

Biff ? … Okay what about the penalties, missed blocks and dropped balls ?

  172. Chris Says:

Raphael, the Niners defense gave up 28 points last week. Do they suck?

  173. MadMax Says:

Just thinking out loud…NE and the Redskins like our players….I’d def take a Ryan Mallet or Kirk Cousins…..but NE doesnt have another bu qb….Redskins has 3, and Im sure they want to keep Kirk in case RG3 goes down again.

hmm….maybe Matt Flynn? I dont know.

Maybe just trade him for some picks to move as close to the 1st pick of the draft. We could start playing Glennon (I know, he needs a lot of work). But if Freeman really doesnt want to be here, then why trust him with the ball? Id rather trust someone who DOES want to be here. Plus, you never know…Glennon could develop into something..he is a rookie, so at least he has that going for him…..understandable if he screws up and then we’ll try to draft a QB in 2014.

  174. Chris Says:

Does the defense play bad, yes. But that doesn’t excuse Josh Freeman’s play. Freeman lacks poise, confidence, decision making, ability to read defenses, locks onto WRs, poor footwork, inconsistency drives you insane.

Care to comment on that Raphael? Care to comment how he was the 4th wrost QB out of 32 last week? Care to wonder how PFF ranked him as one of the worst QBs in 2012? How he balled out in 6 of the 16 games, but sucked in the other 10? Care to explain to me how other teams, overcome bad defensive performances and still find themselves winning 10+ games a year?

Come on Raphael, I want some hard nosed facts to EXCUSE Freeman’s play. Look at TOP. We lost that by almost 6 minutes. Which is a TD drive. That means our offense isn’t sustaining drives.

We had more firepower on offense than the Jets. Why couldnt we move the chains?

  175. MadMax Says:

Careful Chris, you’ll make his brain explode…..thats too much 😉

  176. Hawaiian Buc Says:

It really sickens me that so many fans think this whole situation is funny, hence all the lol’s and crap. Some people would rather be right versus having the team win. They are cheering for an implosion and having the guy they hate get the boot, so they can shove it down their JBF rival’s throat. Losing Freeman is going to absolutely kill any possible good season we could have. Losing Schiano will be very difficult to recover from as well.

Some people are so blind with their love, and others are so blind with their hate. In my opinion, both Schiano and Freeman are to blame. They are both acting like children, and it’s embarrassing. I really like Dominik, but he needs to step in and fix this one way or the other. If he doesn’t, then he is going to lose his job too – deservedly so.

  177. Tony Says:

    Well done

Lol I can’t wait to watch us lose with Glennon, it’s going to be so fun watching Couch Fan and the “Realist” try and make “excuses” for Glennon’s struggles.

If Schiano goes with MG then as a fan I’m fine with that since it’s his neck on the line and not mine. As far as MG struggling it’s expected, he is a rookie. Josh is in his fifth year-4th as a starter, 2nd year in the same system. There are no more excuses for Josh. It’s put up or go away this year. He doesn’t even have to get us to the playoffs. Just show progess and consistency.

Before you say I’m nof a fan. I’m a total homer. Josh was my QB, VJ was one of my WR’s and the bucs were my Defense last year in fantasy football. I was going to draft Dougie but he was selected right before my next pick. Barth was my kicker also.

  179. Chris Says:

Schiano isn’t going anywhere. Truth be told, he has a leg to stand on. Freeman not showing up to meetins, team photo.

Schiano also wants to build his team. He was a late hire in 2012, meaning he didnt have an awful lot to choose from in the assistant coaching category. I thin Sully was his 3rd or 4th option. He wanted McNulty. Cards denied. He wanted the Niners secondary coach for defensive coord., San Fransisco denied that as well.

  180. Richard Says:

Yes, Freeman rallies us. The problem is, he’s often a big part of why we have to rally in the first place.

  181. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

If Freeman’s agent won’t comment, and we know Freeman didn’t because he’s always tight-lipped….who was Jason La Canfora’s source?

    I’ll tell you:

National reporter calls local reporter. Asks “What is really going on down there?”

Local reporter thinks “oh, I can generate a source now!”

He goes on to make things up. Later, national reporter says “according to my sources…”

Local reporter can now say “national reporter now reporting…”

And boom, the local reporter has generated a source and a made-up story.

    No accountability at all.

  182. Walter Says:

People on this site think that I’m supporting Freeman because I have some kind of man crush on him. And don’t get me wrong, I like Freeman, but the reason I support him so much is because we need him to play well, we need him to produce and be that franchise QB. This team has young talent, but a few of our leaders, like V-Jax, Revis, Goldson, Nicks, Penn, and Joseph are all approaching their 30’s. we simply don’t have time to groom a rookie QB, we need to be competing NOW. Our window is not as big as some people like to think it is. Either Freeman steps up, or we find a veteran replacement, because in all honesty, starting over with a rookie is kind of out of the question. Either find a better QB than Freeman, or hit the reset button.

  183. Chris Says:

I support Freeman. Heck I’m wearing his jersey right now. I want this team to be a playoff team with him.

But I can’t help it that I see the reality behind it. Freeman isn’t magicially going to improve his flaws what I’ve stated above after 5 years into the nfl and still not improvements in those areas. Those are also flaws he had coming out of college when he was drafted.

I guess you can say this: You can’t coach talent. Freeman has all the phyiscal talent in the world. Big arm, size, strength. But, you can’t fix stupid either. And the mental make up is something Freeman doesn’t have.

Listening to Eric Stukes, our director of Pro scouting. He was the guy who pleaded for Russell Wilson in Seattle. What he said when he evaluated him?

    – Intangibles? Great.
    – Intellegence? Excellent.
    – Leadership? Excellent.
    – Accuracy: Great.
    – Awareness: Great.
    – Arm Strength: Good enough to make all the throws.

Arm strength was the last thing evaluated and is the most overated skill of a QB.

  184. Raphael Says:

Chris ..just look at last week, Josh leads us down for the win and the defense loses it with 40 seconds and no time outs . C’mon Chris , get with the program… More ? Look at the giants game or the Dallas game or the eagles game …all games our defense lost ….

  185. Chris Says:

Dallas Game? explain 31% complettion percentage. Explain 43% completion percentage against Philly. TOP was lost in all of them.

Want the Giants game ? The defense forced 3 INTs that led to points. Offense didnt do anything in the 2nd half. Not excusing the defense, but not excusing the offense either.

And I did look at last week. If Jackson isn’t wide open, we don’t convert.
