“I Think It Is Going To Bring The Team Closer”

September 19th, 2013

Jonathan Casillas and Derrick Brooks talk about chaos, discipline and uniting a team.

The media circus around the Bucs has been like one of those clown cars actually seen at the circus. In the Bucs’ case, instead of a clown, a new negative rumor, sometimes transparent BS, pops out seemingly every other day.

In the age of smart phones and social media, most Bucs players are hearing and seeing all the gossip quickly, either on their own or via friends, family and teammates tipping them off.

Bucs veteran linebacker Jonathan Casillas feels the impact of the media mayhem and said yesterday he believes it could be a good thing.

“I think it is going to bring the team closer,” Casillas said. “You gotta be in it together. The worse it gets on the outside, the more we got to get tighter. You know, I believe that. I think a lot of guys do believe that in this locker room. Our goal is to get 100 percent on board. You know, I’m not sure if it’s 100 percent yet, but that’s our goal. If we can get that done by Sunday, that’ll be great.”

Joe could get all negative here and ask, ‘What the hell does Casillas mean when he says the team isn’t 100 percent on board and it would be nice if they were by Sunday?” But Joe really didn’t get a negative vibe from Casillas and, frankly, so what if a few players are bitching and moaning about the New Schiano Order. No, that’s not a good sign, but there are plenty of great head coaches whose players questioned them and/or despised them at times.

Bucs icon Derrick Brooks made a great point yesterday afternoon during his “Tampa 2” show with Steve Duemig on WDAE-AM 620.

Brooks chuckled at fans and others who think a discipline-focused, toes-on-the-line coach is a problem. “The last two coaches I played for, it was that way, as well,” Brooks said. “This is nothing new.

“When Coach Dungy came in, he laid down his principles and you followed them. These were the marching orders. And I guess it’s the difference that I’m starting to see where the fans respond, is how [Schiano] went about doing it.

Brooks went on to say massive media exposure leaguewide has made it much harder for teams to keep their privacy and keep normal adjustments and discontent out of the spotlight.

It was funny how the little puppy started talking about watching the coaches tape for the run on 3rd and 6 and trying to blame Schiano on the loss and how he is not a good coach. Then DB55 put him in his place saying it was the right call and his 2 coaches wd re no different than Schiano as far as demanding.

I hate how Doomig keeps trying to run the good coaches out of town and was falling all over him self for the one coach that should hage never been gifted a HC job.

So fans that demand the offense be held accountable for their loor play more specifically the 5th year QB are a cancer.

Way to go True fan, you may accept mediocrity but I don’t.

More and more negativity, 30th? There’s no way, were 10 secs away from being 2-0 and other than a blown coverage our D shut down Brees and the Aints. Something is going on somewhere, as long as I can remember the BUCS never got any publicity of any sorts. It’s almost every hour now, there is a new NEGATIVE story from some unnamed “Source”, every so called analyst says how bad we are (Freeman) and most picked a tough losing season before it of even started. I can’t wait until we beat NE on Sunday and then AZ and head into the bye 2-2, the offence will start rolling and Freeman will play like we all know he can. These facts are believe and just want more than anything for the team to win and just put all this negative CRAP behind them. It honestly sickens me hear all this bad publicity or poor power rankings about the BUCS, even worse when the fans are part of the probes as well. Believe and support this team, even more so when their playing badly. It’s easy to blame Freeman or coaching, but in reality I think most fans are frustrated with how we lost the first 2 games. I’m frustrated as well, but staying true to the team and supporting them no matter what. Like Freeman or not he’s our starting QB and is NOT THE REASON we are 0-2, it should start with us fans first. Let’s show the media and so called experts that this is a united and LOYAL fan base through good and bad and we don’t care about all these negative “stories” or rumours. So they can go pick on some other team and spread lies about them, because 0-2 doesn’t matter, were not going any where. Rally time BUC NATION, stupid power rankings and opinions of people who don’t love this team don’t mean a damn thing. This team and fans will show all the doubters that the BUCS are for real, and our loyalty and positive passion and support can not be broken and will never waiver, GO BUCS!!!!
