Drew Brees May Be A Hypocrite

September 19th, 2013

Yesterday, New Orleans Saints quarterback sounded off on Bucs safety Dashon Goldson as being a dirty player. This, just days after the Saints narrowly beat the Bucs at the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway.

Brees was quoted as saying, “He (Goldson) certainly has no regards for rules in the middle; he’s going after guys’ heads. You can see it. … There are some instances where it’s pretty obvious a guy’s going after another guy’s head.”

This morally offended Dory LeBlanc of WDAE-AM 620. She began tapping on her laptop to all but call Brees a hypocrite for his comments on Goldson and the Bucs.

What makes the comments ironic and almost hypocritical is that Brees and the Saints have just been reunited with their head coach after Sean Payton served a one-year suspension for what is commonly referred to as “Bountygate.”

Goldson had the right to appeal his suspension, just as the four current and former Saints players did in the Bountygate scandal. The end result was that former NFL Commisioner Paul Tagliabue vacated the players’ suspension, finding that the coaches were primarily responsible for the bounty scheme.

Brees was outspoken throughout last year, defending his teammates and coaches, even taking the discussion to CBS News’ Person To Person.

Yeah, Joe thought it was rich that a guy who plays for a team that was busted for bounties, which is as dirty at it can get, is throwing rocks at glass houses calling other players headhunters when the NFL does not exactly agree after looking at video evidence.

Joe guesses if Goldson was paid extra cash to knock people out of a game, then Brees would have been good with that.

Below is video of Brees spouting off on Goldson and the Bucs. Video courtesy of NOLA.com.

in the days leading up to sunday’s game he was singing the praises of our secondary, including Goldson. something tells me he quickly realized how formidable our defense will be, and is now trying to use the podium as a means to slow us down.

  2. Kirk Says:

One might disagree with what Drew Brees has to say, but damn that guy can play football. Wish our quarterback played as consistently well.

  3. Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

What a freaking baby! How Hypocritical coming from a player on a Team that was told to hurt people.
Last time I looked, Coach Schiano only put “hits” out, on the media, who have bad mouthed him and the team, not on other players.

  4. bucrightoff Says:

I think Drew is just bitter the Bucs D scored as many TDs as the Saints O.

  5. BigSombrero Says:

Glad someone has the balls to call it out. I don’t want to hear anything about players being dirty from a Saints player.

  6. TrueBuc Says:

He’s trying to get the media and NFL to side with him so that the League will come down on his division rival.

I hope we knock him out so hard next time that the rest of his mole falls off.

  7. gt40bear Says:

May be? MAY BE? Brees IS a hypocritical product one might use on a Summer’s Eve! AND he’s a midget to boot! If he were not a homunculus, A. C.’s helmet would have drilled him in the ribs, not shoulder/maybe helmet.

  8. HolyMoly Says:

    What a DI$K !

  9. Adam L. Says:

I love that DREW BREES, a SAINTS PLAYER, is talking about DIRTY HITS. Wasn’t your coach suspended for a YEAR for taking out BOUNTIES on other NFL players? Wasn’t your defensive coordinator suspended INDEFINITELY?

I bet next Drew Brees will start whining about how Colorado residents were too slow to move out of the way of rising flood waters.

  10. Ricardo Esteban Says:

the bucs will remember this. he’s gonna get knocked the $uck out next time we play!

  11. TrueBuc Says:

LMAO @ Drew the “homunculus”! What a little btch!

  12. BUCSLEGENDS Says:

WOW, I just lost all my respect for Brees…, Just goes to show you just never know. GO BUCS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. Buc1987 Says:

    Punk ass bitch!

  14. Zzyxx Says:

Brees may be the most hypocritical pro athlete I’ve ever seen. Numerous players and coaches suspended for headhunting bounties and every week all you heard was him whining every week how unfair it was and how he wasn’t BFFs anymore with Goodell. Plus, his team employs Malcolm Jenkins who is a much dirtier player than Goldson because Jenkins chronically dives at knees. Goldson is making plays that used to put guys like Lynch and Lott on highlight films, it’s only recently those plays have been deemed illegal and he has to adjust, for his sake and the team’s. It was ridiculous for the NFL to suspend Goldson in the first place for overaggressive football plays while they slap the wrists of guys like Suh and Incognito for the garbage they pull that has nothing to do with game play. Would love to see one of the Bucs put Brees into la-la land when they go to NO later on. What a doooooshe.

  15. Adam L. Says:

And his hair looks like lettuce leafs.

  16. SteveK (MGM) Says:

Goldson needs to tone it down just enough to avoid the flag 90% of the time.

I love physical football, but we need to learn the strike zone.

    Joe,

Could you see the NFL augmenting/updating game day uniforms to have a color distinguished “strike zone”. I think it would be easier to see a color highlighted “strike zone” for Defenders to target for “clean” hits. If the color guided “strike zone” gets highlighted on uniforms, you could have it “challenged” by coaches. It would make the game more interesting. What is one more stoppage of play?

  17. George Hardy Says:

Uh, Joe Not Very Funny Bucs Fan, I think you mean, “throwing rocks from a glass house”. (edited for hate speech)

  18. Eric Says:

Sure Brees is a hypocrit. He’s never gonna go after his own guys.

Supports his own player attacks the Bucs player.

I got no problem with that. Part of the job of a QB.

I wish our guy could have about half the leadership qualities Drew has.

  19. Doc Says:

    Cry baby

  20. Chef Paul Says:

I don’t want to take anything away from Brees. He’s a great baller. But he is without a doubt the whiniest bitch Ive had the displeasure of hearing speak. Weather you want to call him a hypocrite, or not matters nothing to me. He is Whiney and uses his podium to piss and whine all the time. Eff Drew Brees and his childish baby behavior.

  21. BuccoBill Says:

Every time I read about or hear these Saints bitches crying about being manhandled by the Bucs D it makes my blood pressure rise. It’s a reoccurring sentiment in New Orleans. A bunch of whiny ass people that feel like the world owes them something, and that they’re not being treated fairly. The Saints have proven to be a great representation of their city. The dirty birds used to be the division rival I hated the most, but sorry Atlanta, the Saints have taken your place! I hope our front 7 puts it to Brees and Sproles when we go to the sinking city.
