Did not play the same way for the 49ers? Why wasn’t it a big deal then?

  2. HolyMoly Says:

The NFL is becoming the biggest sissified league in pro sports . Any time there is a great hit, boom, here comes a flag. Sure the only reason the head idiots are considering a suspension is because the Bucs play the pats on Sunday . And you know they don’t want tom “hey ref” throw a flag because I just got touched brady to get hurt. Getting hard to watch these games nowadays.

I’m assuming Merriweather is in the process of being suspended for half the season and Suh is going to receive a year long ban? No, you say, then why are we targeting a player like Goldson who doesn’t headhunt but does look to hit a player violently? What is happening to the NFL? I get protecting the players but Goldson was flagged three times in two games by my count and only deserved one of them. This is getting ridiculous.

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Joe,

Can Goldson appeal and postpone a suspension? Is there prescedent on this?

  5. Cmurda Says:

Eff a suspension. The league is out of control. What they didnt like is Goldson saying he would continue to play the same kind of football. Why shouldnt he. This is the way football is supposed to be played. Sadly football is no longer football.

Joe, its cool to say hey, rules are rules but lets face it. From the age of 5 these guys are taught to tackle and be a certain way. Now, within the last couple years you cant do anything but arm tackle. If its a big hit, you can rest assured there will be a flag. If the NFL wants to make the game half of what it was, then fine. Charge the fans 1/2 as much because that is what they are getting. Without some of these calls and make no mistake 1/2 of them have been garbage, the Bucs are 2-0 and everyone would be happy.

  6. ander Says:

@bffl u nailed it why wasnt it a big deal before goldson is old school if this was the 1990s bucs will be 2 and 0 right now but too bad the nfl rather have torn acls if jackson woulve gotten hurt after that dirty hit by that scumbag from the saints no fine will be their. but it is what it is go bucs

  7. 76buc76 Says:

Put yet not even a penelty to demeko Ryan’s for that vicious crown down hit on Floyd. Do not watch that replay….just nasty

  8. BIlly Bob Says:

Goldson is not throwing elbows to the head and is not attacking the head, Goldson is always making first contact with his shoulder pads. In the process of the hit and as bodies collapse the helmets are touching but are not hitting with great force. Also Goldson is launching himself to make tackles which creates a time element here from the time he commits to the tackle to the time he makes the hit. so many receivers are ducking or lowering there helmets that the helmets touching are going to happen. Personaly if the receiver head is tucked and is leading with the helmet should there be no penalty for helmet to helmet

  9. JT Says:

This is ridiculous. Goodell is making sure if you don’t have an elite quarterback, you will not be relevant. Had Goodell been comissioner in 2002 Tampa would have no lombardi.

  10. stanglassman Says:

On 3 questionable H to H hits, I don’t think so. The NFL should consider sending him a letter of apology. If they were all like the Black’s hit it would be possible but I think this is just typical BSPN speculation talk.

  11. MadMax Says:

Goodell and this “national flagfootball league” is about to lose some fans because of BS penalties assisting with wins in close games, especially when its against the red headed step child of the nfl, our Bucs!

Since we’re not allowed helmet to helmet anymore, remove those big bulky hunks of plastic and go back to the leather headgear….there, no more incidental helmet to helmet contact. As far as QB goes, it should be called a sack as soon as a D man gets both hands on him…whistle the play dead right there *score a sack!

    Thats what its coming to….smdfh!!!!

  12. zam Says:

I’ve never liked how tackling has turned into running full speed into a guy and damaging him, as opposed to wrapping him up. guess I’m a Ronde Barber guy not a Lynch one.

  13. Free's A Boob Says:

zam I said the same thing last week and got ridiculed by Joe for what an “upgrade” Goldson is. I like Goldson but he will do us no good in street clothes.

  14. Free's A Boob Says:

Joe. Remind me again how a guy in a suit for 1 of 16 is a massive upgrade over Ronde, please. Although in truth Barron took Ronde’s spot and Goldson Barron’s. I don’t recall Ronde ever being suspended. As you and others have pointed out, like the new rules or not, play by them or suffer the consequences.

Sorry to be testy but Ronde was the essence of a Buc man till the day he retired and deserves nothing but respect.
