A Painful Start For Revis

September 14th, 2013

Darrelle Revis told cool stories during his inaugural Darrelle Revis Show on WDAE-AM 620 last night, and one was about his first NFL game.

Revis explained how he was stunned to learn he’d be covering Randy Moss in the Jets’ 2007 opener against the Patriots. ‘Who me? I’m the rookie cornerback here,’ was what Revis said his response was to the news. Jets head coach and defensive guru Eric Mangini didn’t want to ease Revis into anything.

Moss, en route to a historic season, lit up the Jets for nine catches for 183 yards and a touchdown.

Those rookie memories, Revis said, are a big part of why he takes such an active role tutoring young Bucs cornerbacks on film study and the nuances of man-to-man coverage.

Revis said he believes it’s necessary “payback” to the veterans that helped him, and part of his love for the game.

Somewhat muted and hidden in all of the negativity is the fact that we have an absolutely true professional as a Tampa Bay Buccaneer. Revis has always carried himself with a mature positive attitude.
His influence has got to be felt by not only the rookies but by everyone including coaches.

Why did the NY papers paint him as selfish. Sounds to me like jealousy. Appears to be a great guy.

I think it was over the holdout and money…..I don’t blame him…he should get all he can get as should everyone. That isn’t selfish, its smart and the American way. Surely the Owners try to profit as much as they can.
For him to accept a no-guarantee contract speaks volumes about his self confidence!!!

So glad we have this guy. Can’t wait to see how he helps our D against a real potent offense. Everything else is just noise. Bucs pull out a win!!

Finally a positive story. We need something good to happen with our team.

Revis’ impact is greater than most realize on AND off the field. Just wait and see.

We lost a future Hall of Famer in Ronde Barber, but we replaced him with another one who is a classy guy in his own right.

I PROMISE you Buc fans, if you don’t already, you will grow to LOVE this guy!!!

    He is truly special…
