Sapp Says Freeman Should Do More Off Field

May 3rd, 2013

Warren Sapp checked in for laughs and memories with his ol’ pal and former teammate Ian Beckles on the Ron and Ian Show this morning on WDAE-AM 620.

Sapp was colorful as always, bouncing from taking shots at Josh Freeman’s leadership, as well as jabs at Booger McFarland, and diving into Beckles’ blocking skills. Plus Sapp gets into much more, including how if Manti Te’o walked into his locker room, Sapp would demand he learn how to use Skype. “There’s supposed to be a live moving body on the other end,” Sapp said. “I’d knock him around. I’d have to find the truth to this.”

Sapp’s criticism of Freeman revolved around Sapp’s take that Freeman isn’t doing enough to lead the team outside of the demands placed on him at One Buc Palace. Now Joe doesn’t think that’s accurate or fair, but perhaps Sapp has some deeper insight.

Seems like the QBkilla forgot that during the lockout Free brought the receivers in and worked with them. Freeman works hard on and off the field to get better…give him a break. He proved he was a class act and leader by reaching out to Glennon to welcome him to the team. Last year of his contract…I hope he has a breakthrough year. Go Bucs!

Tough enough to have Schiano on your back and now Sapp up your ass. All with the rookie lusting for your Job.
    Sink or swim?

That was nice of Sapp to try and help out Ian Beckles Ratings!
Maybe Sapp knows something we do not ?

Third reliable source to question Freeman off field leadership. A duck quack and birds fly and the eye in the sky don’t lie as Sapp says.

Like I said in the other thread I don’t have full confidence freeman will succeed.

With so many Qbs still available in the 3rd round the Bucs were not under pressure to use that pick on a QB, YET they chose to and of all the QBs to choose from they chose MG… NOT 1 single person can know for sure whether JF will improve this year or stay the same ole JF.

1 thing is certain and that is MG is the 1st QB HC Shiano got to be a part of drafting and I am certain that could play a HUGE roll in Coach’s future plans for who drives his team!

I loved the shoutout to Brad Culpepper. He was a true, old school NFC NORTH DT.

I was sad to see him go. He played with heart.

I guess thats why Sapp said that!

I never knew he was sad to see Culpepper go. Or that he still disagrees with the choice to replace Culpepper with Booger.

    Wow. I never kmew that.

Dude. Sapp is cool. I loved this interview.

Its sooooo true about team spirit and chemistry. Why doesnt Josh and some other guys MOVE to Tampa. They should.

Sapp is a true team guy. He was a rock for us. Such a hardworker. He loved his tribe, his boyz, his brothers in arms.

    Sapp is the man.

    Go Bucs!

Have to agree with Sapp 100% regarding Freeman comment. Truth of the matter is Sapp is a smart man and knows what he is talking about.
