“He Was A Steal For Us”

May 10th, 2013

Darrelle Revis has been blessed with a massive endorsement by Bucs icon Ronde Barber.

Revis cost the Bucs $16 million a season and two draft picks, and he’s not healthy yet, but Barber called him “a steal” of a score by Bucs rockstar general manager Mark Dominik.

Yeah, Barber is pumped up for what he believes will be a massive positive impact coming from Revis. Barber explained yesterday to the CBS Sports Radio national morning show.

“He is the premier talent at the position right now. He was a steal for us prior to the draft,” Barber said of Revis. “Obviously, he is going to add a ton to our secondary. I know there’s people talking about, ‘Did I get pushed out? You know, signing Dashon Goldson, signing Revis, restructuring Eric Wright and signing him. Did that have anything to do with me deciding to retire?’ And the answer, frankly, is ‘No.’ This was solely my decision. The Bucs gave me a lot of leeway in deciding what I wanted to do.”

Barber also explained that he would have loved to play with Revis and that he had a guaranteed roster spot on the Bucs regardless of what might have happened during 2013 training camp and preseason.

Imagine if Revis really proves to be “a steal,” as Barber claims. Joe’s liking that fantasy, as it could mean a deep playoff run this season if Josh Freeman performs like he did in 2010.

It was a steal of epic proportions.
It rates right up there with the Hershel Walker trade to Minnesota.
I can’t even imagine how angry the Jets fans must be.

Well done, Mr. Dominick. Well done indeed.

A playoff victory would be such a coup for my fanhood, it has been tough sledding for awhile. I live in Steelers territory and all they do is shove their recent accomplishments in my face!

    Come on Bucs!

  3. Architek Says:

I would rather have Carson Palmer with this roster and groom Glennon, than rely on Freeman.

  4. Architek Says:

With that said all we can do is trust that Freeman will do something substantial – I have no expectations given his inconsistency dating back to college.

  5. Seth B Says:

Tyler Effiert and whoever they draft next year in the 3rd round will never be Darrelle Revis. Even if Effiert becomes Tony Gonzalez, it doesn’t matter.

The Best Corner possibly EVER!!! Will always be more valuable then they Best Tight End… and probably by 2-fold at that.

It was a Dang Steal my man!

  6. Drew Says:

The New York and New Jersey State Attorney offices just issued a warrant for the arrest of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers franchise for Highway Robbery. Also listed in the warrant was any Buccaneer Fan observed gloating over the Revis deal will be sent to Guantanamo to enjoy the sport of Water Boarding.

    I’m Loving It!!!

  7. Wisconsin Bucs fan Says:

Capt. Tim I agree completely. big007hed I feel for you, I live 60 miles from Green Bay.

  8. feelthepewterpower Says:

Personally Revis could of probably been had for even less, but he’s here now, and hopefully will go into Canton as (another) Buccaneer HOF’er!!!

  9. Vic66 Says:

I believe Revis is glad and happy to be a Buccaneer Man aside of the money and we are glad and excited to have him on our team. Here’s hoping his rehab continues well and he is ready for the season. Now if we can have back the 2010 quarterback we will see a great run in the playoffs.

Question: If you’ve been undervalued as a cornerback to the point where there is a question as to whether or not you make first ballot HOF or not… What better way to improve your value if the best shutdown cornerback in TODAY’S NFL flops???

Does Ronde know something about Revis that we don’t??? Of course I’m hoping that Revis turns out to be the monster his reputation stipulates…

But if Revis doesn’t perform as expected, I think that locks Ronde in FIRST BALLOT…

  11. Pewter Bullion Says:

-… So a toast to Ronde and the best to him post-NFL— hopeully, Revis can return healthy and take us to the next step… If not, Ray Lewis & Ronde Barber will share First Ballot in 2018 with no questions…
