NFL Draft Day Three, Open Thread

April 27th, 2013

OK boys and girls, the third and final day of the NFL draft is upon us.

The Bucs need some players at positions not including quarterback, safety, offensive guard and running back.

How about a defensive tackle?

How about a defensive end?

The Bucs could sure use a pass rusher of some sort.

Joe doesn’t believe the Bucs need a punter.

Let’s hear what you have to say, and as always, do behave.

In Major League Baseball, stud pitchers get pulled all the time if they are having a bad game.

Do they cry about it and lose all confidence? Noooo.

So when Freeman gets pulled for the deer in the headlights look, he should take it like a man, like MLB pitchers.

  2. lurker Says:

    mornin’

  3. Couch Fan Says:

Afternoon! Let’s see some more great picks today! Revis, Banks and Glennon is a good draft so far.

  4. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Well, I’m looking at the DTs remaining and I’m not seeing anyone that stands out as a pass rusher.

Jesse Williams will likely be gone.

Everett Dawkins DT/DE is an option…allows us to have depth at two positions.

    Brent Russell DT maybe?

  5. Andrew 1 Says:

theres still some good players left like

    TE Dion Sims

    LB Kasheem Green

hopefully we get one of them

  6. Buc'N'iT Says:

    Dear Santa,
I have been a very good boy this year and I would very much like some D Line help please!!!!!!

  7. Buc'N'iT Says:

    Cornelius is exciting to me

  8. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I say go Chase Thomas, OLB

  9. Joe Says:

Bucs traded up and are on the clock.

  10. Bucs Fan #238 Says:

Trade up for Jesse Williams… oh that would be heavenly.

  11. Couch Fan Says:

    We just traded up!!

  12. Mark Says:

    C’mon Khaseem Greene

  13. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    We traded up!

  14. Couch Fan Says:

DT!! There you go you bunch of whiners. You got your DT.

  15. Mark Says:

    Noooooo

  16. Illuminati Says:

I thought Spence might be on or radar. Not much of a pass rusher, though. Maybe he can be groomed.

  17. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Yeah…and he isn’t even the best DT on the board. Sigh. No pass rush ffrom him at all.

This was a depth pick, nothing more. The Bucs can’t be sold on their current starter in Millers spot.

  18. Couch Fan Says:

I dont know nothin about the guy. Welcome to tampa though. Glad we still got our 2nd 4th rounder

  19. Andrew 1 Says:

please dont tell me we traded our other 4th round pick to move up

  20. PRBucFan Says:

Ugh…. We should have taken Greene

We prob could have taken Greene now and still taken this kid with the other fourth

  21. BucsfaninChina Says:

Roy Miller 2.0. I dont get it

  22. Sneedy16 Says:

    They traded a 6th

  23. feelthepewterpower Says:

Gorgeous cheerleader?! Anyone know her name?

  24. Mark Says:

I’m with you PRBucFan. Greene is better.

  25. Jerry Says:

Bucs dont seem to be looking for pass rushers… that’s for sure. I guess they are satisfied with Bowers and Clayborn bringing the pressure and McCoy disrupting the middle.

  26. Sneedy16 Says:

Cheaper and most likely less injury concerns than Miller

  27. lurker Says:

the bucs are getting the players they want/like and moving to make sure. it doesn’t matter to them what others think, especially nobodies on here. 🙂

  28. PRBucFan Says:

Good thing we don’t care that they do care than huh? Lol 😉

  29. Couch Fan Says:

Lol just incase you didnt notice… all the players you are wanting, the Bucs arent the only ones who are passing on them… so as far as being “better” goes, we will have to wait and see.

  30. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Scary thing is the best pass rushing DT left on the market is Sedrick Ellis, and he isn’t good for more than 3-4 sacks per season.

Still, unless a trade is in the works, the Bucs should sign him before someone else does.

  31. the Baron Buc Says:

Hope Greene is still there with the second pick in the 4rth…. Mornin everyone.

  32. PRBucFan Says:

Oh and my first guess was CB, DT, LB, TE, OT, SlotWr

  33. Mark Says:

Yes Couch Fan, only time will tell which players should have been picked.

  34. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Seems clear to me that the Bucs are all about depth in this draft, except for Banks.

  35. Andrew 1 Says:

    dammit there goes Dion Sims

  36. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

On the bright side, Dominick moved up 12 spots for only a 6th rounder. Was a great trade.

I wonder…do the Bucs foresee certain players being released as a result of days 1 & 2 and figure to get starters then?

  37. Couch Fan Says:

The Bucs dont need starters. They need quality depth. People want big names at every position. Thats not how it works.

  38. the Baron Buc Says:

Could be Bonzai…. There was a column floating around that discussed the Bucs being big players in the second round of free agency after the draft.

  39. Uk_Buc Says:

Gutted we have no seventh round pick, would have loved us to take a punt on Lawrence okoye as a pure pass rusher.

    “The Bucs don’t need starters.”

You are mistaken. Having starters does not mean having big names at every position, but they do have to have the ability to start at the very least. We are getting no starters from the 3rd round on.

We came into the draft needing a minimum of two starters…CB and DT. We got one.

LB would have been nice as well.

Drafting for depth is not about getting subpar guys. You want to get potential starters so that if there is an injury, it doesn’t affect the end result.

  41. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Pit got Big Ben’s eventual replacement a few years down the road.

  42. the Baron Buc Says:

Too bad Kasom Greene is gone….. Hope they’re thinking Poyer at CB next.

  43. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Okay, coming up I think there are a couple options:

    OLB Chase Thomas
My main preference. He is good at getting sacks, a good hitter. Best OLB left on the board and I had him in my mock in this round. The problem is, will he fall to us and is there a point to even hoping to get him the way the Bucs are choosing?

    DE Brandon Jenkins
Adds a pass rush threat in DE depth…in case there is an injury. Replaces Bennett.

A RB for depth might be good. Maybe Patton at WR…though he is a sideline WR so would likely be depth.

  44. bucrightoff Says:

I kinda wanna see them take Marcus Lattimore. Sure its a throw away pick but if he comes back close to what he was he and the Dougernaut are a lethal combination.

  45. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Cool, at least one of my two guys will be there. Course, I doubt the Bucs will take either, lol.

  46. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Green Bay leaped above us?

  47. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

bucrightoff, I could live with that pick.

  48. Couch Fan Says:

ohhhh! A toy for the offense.

  49. Couch Fan Says:

There we go now the DLine is set

  50. bucrightoff Says:

Gholston is solid, pass rush depth obviously can’t hurt

  51. the Baron Buc Says:

Yeah, Gholston is a beast… Just needs to be consistent.

  52. PRBucFan Says:

    Bubye Greene ..

  53. Stanglassman Says:

Gholston looks like Tarzan…hopefully plays like Simeon Rice after some good coaching.

  54. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Anyone else having trouble with the website using FireFox?

  55. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I like the Gholston pick. DE Depth is good.

  56. lurker Says:

i think atl wanted gholston but we took him. i also think the we might have wanted the rb, franklin, that gb took before us.

  57. lurker Says:

    hello (hello helllo hellooo hhello)

  58. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    DE again…

  59. Illuminati Says:

Means will probably be an OLB in the NFL.
