“The Bucs Are Just Wasting Time”

January 17th, 2013

In his most scathing indictment to date of the current Bucs brass, former Bucs quarterback and current NBC Sports Network analyst Shaun King says “the Bucs are just wasting time” because of the lack of skills and smarts of Greg Schiano and rockstar general manager Mark Dominik.

One of only three QBs to lead the Bucs to the NFC Championship game, King says the firing of defensive backs coach Ron Cooper and defensive line coach Randy Melvin, is further evidence of the ineptitude of the regime.

“Who does that after the first year if you hire correctly?” King asked rhetorically on WDAE-AM 620 today. “But the problem becomes the elite teachers in the National Football League aren’t going to come here.”

King repeated his takes that he didn’t like the Schiano hire, and that Dominik “is not good at his job,” and he said it’s a red flag that Schiano, a defensive guy, used a defense that needs an overhaul. “Those schemes and those philosophies they’re using on defense are flawed,” King said.

King, a St. Pete native, went on to express his deep, lifelong love for the Buccaneers and belief that Mike Sullivan will move on in the near future as a hot head coaching candidate, therefore the Bucs are “spinning their wheels.” (The entire audio can be accessed below.)

If Shaun King says something expect the opposite to happen. Super Bowls for everyone!

  2. the_buc_realist Says:

It is True, watching the Rock Star replace his own failed acquisitions is wasting fans time. How long does it take to rebuild a franchise. I guess we will know by year Eight?

  3. Ian's Gay Lisp & Ron's Drinking Problem Says:

Bucs took so long to hire a coach last year…there’s no way they could get the best coaches anyway…and Ownership/G.M. have a HORRIBLE reputation for the way they handle coaches…and Shaun King clearly has a “Beef” with Mark D. (i heard the radio show when he went CRAZY on Mark. D. and Shaun was no longer On-Air shortly after that)

  4. flmike Says:

He really has turned into a giant burger fed POS.

  5. OAR Says:

King’s football career sucked! I still cringe at the fact that he has a SB ring.
If his opinions or his football expertise are so good, why isn’t he a coach in the this league? No, he’s just regulated to “spew radio”!

  6. DanDid Says:

I think Shaun King would find something wrong with my house if I invited him over for a BBQ!

I do think that we did not get all the coaches that we desired last year, so this year, we are cleaning house. I hope we are not firing without good ideas of who will replace them.

Lastly, I think, as you rebuild, you are constantly evaluating. Schiano knows more this year about his players and his coaches. He knows strengths and weaknesses, he has see first hand how players play, process, and who are coachable. That is stuff film study doesn’t show. Give the man some time… If he fires half of his coaches every year… Well, then you have something. It’s a little early to judge a painting when the artist has only used 2 colors…

  7. Lakeland fan Says:

Realist- You said Schiano’s in charge and Dom is the just the errand boy.If Schiano’s in charge, isn’t this his faled acquisitions?

  8. Macabee Says:

I am not sure who should be held accountable, Schiano or Sheridan, for the horrible defenses called in games where we had leads late in the game and did not win. What I didn’t like in Schianos year-end presser was he let Josh Freeman take the blame for losses like the Eagles where we had an 11 point lead late in the game and Freeman was nowhere on the field. Schiano will be scrutinized himself more in his second season. Ultimately, all wins and losses begin and end with him! Read PFT and Belichick’s praise for Talib. There needs to be a post-mortem discussion on that trade that looks more and more like a high 5th round trade!

  9. the_buc_realist Says:

funny how King predicted the bucs 10 win season, when everyone else was predicting a 2-4 win season, then correctly predicted the fall in 2011 saying that the Bucs have no explosive players. King seems to have the teams’s pulse more than anyone else. I know other will disagree, as I know that alot of fans have revisionist history around here.

  10. Richard Says:

So are we supposed to hire coaches that will never be considered for promotion anywhere?

  11. Jerry Says:

I really dislike people who to further their agenda, spend their time hating on others.

  12. Hiceman Says:

Shaun King is a Grade A D-bag, tell me again why we listening to or posting his mindless crap. This guy deserves no ones time or opinion…

  13. AK Says:

King has 2 talents: annoying people, and the ability to inhale an entire fridge

  14. Eric Says:

Remember this defensive coordinator we have managed to take an excellent Giants defense, with damn good players, from top ten to bottom ten, then get canned by Coughlin.

They say Rod Marinelli is getting out of Chicago………..

    Just sayin.

  15. lightningbuc Says:

Did Shaun King, the ONLY QB in Bucs history to be inactive for a Super Bowl, say this about Raheem when Rah’s O-coordinator didn’t even make it thru the preseason and the d-coord was fired midway thru Rah’s first season?

  16. J 2.0 Says:

    Still can’t stand him.

  17. J 2.0 Says:

    @ AK LMFAO

@ lightningbuc We all know King’s motivation.

  18. SoonerinTampa Says:

Joe…I gotta tell ya…it is offensive that you say King “lead the Bucs to the NFC Championship game”. He was simply the QB on a team that was carried by the Defense.

It’s also offensive that he even gets two words of print on your page…it is making me re-think my visits to this page

  19. Bucnjim Says:

Stating that anyone lacks skills or smarts screams of lack of class. Especially when Dominik has shown the ability to out smart other GM’s with surprising tactical moves. This was Schiano’s first year as an NFL Head coach and there were bound to be some mistakes and I’m sure he wishes he’d have a couple of those games back. What I did see this year is improvement as well as an exciting team to watch. These guys played hard for this man and even though we still lack the talent to make a serious push for the playoffs I believe with one more draft and Free Agency; this team will make a run in 2013.

  20. SilenceTheCritics Says:

There are some parts of this team that I dont like and I have no problems telling you all about them but at the end of the day I’m a bucs fan through and through. But this guy just seems to hate everything to do with the organization.

  21. BIG SIR Says:

Ok so I have tried to give King a fair shot but he clearly has a vendetta.

He criticizes Schiano for letting assistant coaches go after 1 year but then is already saying Schiano wont work out after 1 year as head coach? He can criticize Dom because he has been in his position for a while now and has been hit and miss. But to criticize a HC after 1 yr and claim he wont work out is dumb.

We see the schedule here. Every Thursday King goes on air and then Joe writes an article. I say we quit listening and quit reading the article. That way King goes away. At least that is what I am going to do

  22. Fatmosh Says:

WHY IS ANYONE STILL LISTENING TO HIM ANYMORE?

Seriously Joe: JUST STOP REPORTING WHAT HE SAYS.

  23. kh Says:

    Oh f’ off Shaun King.

  24. the_buc_realist Says:

Makes you wonder if Chip Kelly saw the same thing King has. That he would not win in this league with Dominick as GM and Freeman at QB. Turning down the Bucs agreed offer to wait out a year for better teams. A place where they can better identify talent.

  25. Sneedy16 Says:

I love the Bucs and read everything good and bad about the team. I am more excited now than I’ve been in a while, because they are spending money and we have a few holes to fix mainly in the secondary. I am looking forward to free agency and the draft, because if we have an off season like last year we are playoff bound IMO.

  26. kh Says:

    @the_bucs_realist

yea Dominik did an awful job identifying talent this year with Doug Martin, Levonte David and Mark Barron, two were even selected as pro-bowl alternates. Buy a clue.

  27. Sneedy16 Says:

    @the_buc_realist

    Are you Miguel?

  28. mike Says:

Speaking of wasting time…. How much time and Super bowl opportunities did we waste leting S KING play QB. If we would of had at least a below average QB, we get to the Super bowl in 99 and 2001. Thank God Gruden put an end do that crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had a window between 99-2003 where we could have gone to the Super Bowl with that d and run game but we had a JV QB for most of that time, what a shame!

  29. Eric Says:

Dom “outsmarts” other teams GM, until his team takes the field………..

They must have all felt really stupid when they set the franchise record for points, 7, 10, 5 game losing streaks, and within a few yards of the worst pass defense in the 93 year history of the league. And, of course, no playoffs for four years.

    Dom is really snookering them!

I can hear em shaking in their boots now as another “beast” filled Dom draft awaits.

  30. BucKing 3 Says:

For the love off all things Bucs can we please dismiss the crap that often gushes from Kings mouth? If he had half the ability of Freeman than he would have won that NFC Championship game. He comes across as a man who is jealous and full of spite and really just seems petty.

  31. stevek Says:

    kh,

    Get a clue too!

Dom averages 0.25 probowlers per a year. Jackson got in, but only as an alternate.

When will “rockstar” and “misscommunication josh” be held accountable?

Dom has had 1 good draft, and it is about time. I hope we don’t have to wait 4 more years for another probowl selection.

  32. kh Says:

    You’re a clown Eric.

  33. FireTheHandCannon Says:

Say what you want about Mr. King, but one thing is for sure. The man has a knack for multitasking, who else could spew complete garbage 24/7 while eating a cheeseburger every 12 min.

  34. George Says:

Shaun King is a turd. I’m not listening.

  35. Joe Says:

    Sooner:

I gotta tell ya…it is offensive that you say King “lead the Bucs to the NFC Championship game”.

    Yet it is accurate.

Joe finds it offensive that Myron Lewis is on an NFL roster. But wishful thinking doesn’t make it so.

  36. stevek Says:

    kh,

Boasting your GM up because “we have pro bowl atlernates” is insane.

Where are the Bucs in the playoffs? 4 years plus, and still “rebuilding”?

How can the RedSkins trade the farm, and then win the NFC East the next year, all the while Freeman hits a 5 week funk in which he proves himself to be 100% unreliable and underwhelming.

The Buc Fanbase deserves better, and for everyone that apologizes for
Josh Freeman, “I pity the fool”.

  37. lightningbuc Says:

Given the Bucs record under the Dominik regime, he should be referred to as Roadie instead of Rockstar.

  38. stevek Says:

    Preach on Joe,

King was meh, but even he took us to the playoffs.

Will Josh ever take us to the playoffs, or can he still manage to put up #’s and fail?

  39. the_buc_realist Says:

Is the Pop-star in some Fantasy League that i don’t know about? What Gm’s is he outsmarting? was it the second round pick he used on Win-slow and price and got back some 7th round conditional picks???

  40. Joe Says:

    LightningBuc:

Did Shaun King, the ONLY QB in Bucs history to be inactive for a Super Bowl,

LOL Good one, but not accurate. King was on the active roster for the Super Bowl

  41. Buc Fan #238 Says:

Shaun King didn’t have a problem with Raheem Morris’ defense with all of it’s flaws.

  42. Joe Says:

    Fatmosh:

Seriously Joe: JUST STOP REPORTING WHAT HE SAYS.

No can do, sorry. Joe has never been Rachel Watson, nor will he be. When a credible source has something bold to say about the Bucs, Joe is going to write about it whether he agrees with said source or not.

And yes, Joe finds Shaun King to be a credible source. Again, that doesn’t mean Joe always agrees with what he has to say.

  43. kh Says:

stevek – you need to learn how to read, I said Dominik’s ability to identify talent is proven out by the fact that he’s two of our top three picks were selected to the Pro Bowl. Should every pick make the Pro Bowl?

Why is Dominik responsible for Freeman’s collapse anyways? Complete non-sequitir.

You certainly don’t speak for the Bucs fanbase and you’re more then welcome to become a Redskins fan; better that then (apparently) celebrating the fact that we haven’t made the playoffs in four years.

  44. FLBoyInDallas Says:

If it were white coaches being fired King wouldn’t be up in arms like this. He’s a closet racist and anyone who listens to him regularly can see his bias. Just because he doesn’t say it openly on air doesn’t mean it isn’t obvious if you have eyes to see and ears to hear. He wants Raheem back and he wants a black GM…simple as that. I’ve known many racists, white and black and brown, and you can see them coming from a mile away.

  45. kh Says:

stevek – if you honestly think that Freeman wouldnt have led the Bucs to the playoffs with the defenses that King had you’re even dumber then I thought. Have you learned the words to Hail to the Redskins yet?

  46. the_buc_realist Says:

    @Buc Fan

that was because it was compared to Dominick selected D-Coordinator Jim Bates

  47. lightningbuc Says:

    Joe,

I stand corrected. Sorry. I should have said, and will say in the future, “ONLY QB in Bucs history to be the emergency QB in a Super Bowl BEHIND backup Rob Johnson.”

  48. Jimmy Says:

P.J. Fleck helped coach the best Bucs receiving corps in the history of the franchise. Did Shaun shed a tear about him leaving? Nope.

Ron Cooper coached one of the worst secondaries in the history of the NFL and leaves/gets fired and Shaun is outraged.

    You do the math.

  49. kh Says:

smh, actually Raheem Morris selected Bates as his D-coordinator bucs_realist – but good effort trying to blame that on Dom.

  50. lightningbuc Says:

    kh,

You’re speaking out of both sides of your mouth. You want Dom to get credit for Barron (who wasn’t that great, Martin, and David, but you say it isn’t his fault that Freeman ain’t that good. Dominik traded up to draft Freeman. Can’t have it both ways!

  51. Eric Says:

Chiefs got five pro bowlers. Whats that make their GM?

    Fired.

  52. Brad Says:

Everytime I see Shaun King on this sight I go to other places for my Buc news. Knowing Joe thinks King is a credible source made me fall over laughing. I guess when you can think Dominik is a Rock Star, you will believe anything. Joe your reminding me of the girl that says her boyfriends French cause he said it on the Internet and everything is true on the Internet based on her beliefs.
I have to say what the Buc is getting more of my attention these days.

  53. stevek Says:

    Lightningbuc,

Preach it! What is Dom’s record with the Bucs?

Derrick Ward sure helped win a ton of games…

  54. FLBoyInDallas Says:

    @Jimmy

    Exactly. My point as well.

  55. stevek Says:

    kh,

You insult people because your discussion points are weak.

Freeman was the 19th overall selection of the 2009 draft. Dom traded up to get him.

Dom also signed Mike Nugent, Derrick Ward, re-signed Trueblood and Q. Black? Also, he drafted a punter!

Last offseason was nice, but it is only 25% of the Dom-Era.

It is nice that Dom is great with the community, but can he get us to the playoffs?

Always next year around here, and that needs to stop.

  56. stevek Says:

    KH:

“Why is Dominick responsible for Freeman’s collapse anyways?”

Well, Dom did trade up to draft Freeman. Also, Dom has cycled through 1 coaching regime, and he PICKED this one…

Where else is there to go? Dom, can’t make the plays, but he decides who is out there to make the plays, and not enough plays are being made for this to be a success.

Rebuilding, rebuilding, rebuilding…. You’d think after 4 years of Dom, we would atleast have a playoff appearance….

  57. buccanay Says:

Quit reading and posting to this garbage and the writer will quit bringin this garbage.

  58. Warrenfb12 Says:

And the spread option will never work in NFL.

  59. Eric Says:

As far as I am concerned, anybody who has made an NFl roster has credibility to comment.

That isnt a piece of cake.

And to play an important role in winning a playoff game is damn good.

Just cause you disagree with the guy, why trash his playing record? Buncha all pros posting on here?

Joe gets a lot of different takes on here, as it should be.

  60. stevek Says:

    Eric,

    Right on, 100% agree.

Everyone is upset because we stink. 4 years plus of losing will do that to a fan base.

Some are split as where to place the blame? I blame everyone that collects a paycheck from the Bucs, and mainly the perssonel decision maker (DOM?).

  61. stevek Says:

Mediocre Mark Dominick is DJing with K2 in Vegas! Just kidding about our beloved “rockstar”.

  62. OAR Says:

    realist
“Makes you wonder if Chip Kelly saw the same thing King has. That he would not win in this league with Dominick as GM and Freeman at QB. Turning down the Bucs agreed offer to wait out a year for better teams. A place where they can better identify talent.”

Really? To answer NO! You are wrong.
Chip Quack Quack Kelly didn’t turn down our offer. He accepted it, then in the middle of the night, after waking from a nightmare of Duck portions, he recinded the deal.
Then, earlier this offseason, said he wasn’t sure how his offense would do and wasn’t interested in NFL and was staying with the Ducks. He then decides after Philly throws a truck of cash at him to accept. He flip flops more than a politican and changes his mind more than a woman! Good luck with that Phiily.
I for one am so glad he changed his mind with us!!!

  63. Captain Stagger Says:

So we make a ditch effort and bring in anyone left available last year and their units preform horribly, and it looks bad because we want to replace them???

  64. CC Says:

Im so sick of all the negativity being spewed by the talking heads in this area. The Bucs were actually enjoyable to watch this year. Last year was absolutely the complete opposite. They did better than most people expected and could have made the playoffs if we had an average pass defense. Is there any local media on the radio, tv, internet or print that has anything positive to say about this team and its future. Holy s**t it is really getting depressing.

  65. stevek Says:

Why the Chip Kelly hate? He was almost our HC last year.

The man has a unique offense and scores tons of points, what is not to like?

IMHO, Buc fans are sour that we didn’t get him last year and we are still bitter because we were 7-9…

Maybe Kelly turned down the Buc job because he wanted more control?

Maybe Kelly is not a Freeman fan? Who would be a fan of the 34th most accurate passer, 24th most successful 3rd down artist (with a probowl RB and WR)?

    Freeman’s problems are real.

  66. stevek Says:

    CC,

    No way dude!

Freeman bombed out our season, we were 6-4 and he looked great… Why did Freeman cash in 5 weeks of vacation during the year?

Patriots and Giants went to the superbowl last year with a terrible D.

Let’s just see if our favoirte Patriot CB gets to go the superbowl… Real smart trading our only true CB for a 4th rounder… while you claim to be in a playoff race.

Is it Dom’s fault for signing Eric Wright and trading Aquib Talib? Maybe, maybe not…

At what point do we ask ourselves, “Do we have a franchise QB?” The answer: no. We have a liability at the QB position, just watch the plays break down.

  67. FLBoyInDallas Says:

Waaaaah! Waaaaah! My team’s not in the playoffs. Boo hoo!

Do you need mommy to change your dipee? You need her to get you a fresh baba?

    Waaaah!

  68. PRBucFan Says:

    @Joe

So what? What is exactly is the point? What does it boil down to?
    What’s his solution?

  69. stevek Says:

    FLBOYINDALLAS,

WAAAAAAAHHHHH!!! We stiink! Booooohooooo!!! no playoffs… again…. Wahhh!

wish my mommy was still here :), yeah!

  70. SilenceTheCritics Says:

    @SteveK

IMHO, Buc fans are sour that we didn’t get him last year and we are still bitter because we were 7-9…
    ——————————————————————–

I agree with most of the stuff you say but I seriously doubt anyone is sour we didn’t get chip kelly. Besides Miguel that is. The guy is more fickle than a woman. I think he was doing nothing more than waiting for the best oppertunity in the biggest market possible. It takes a real coach to turn around a team like the Bucs or Cleveland. No so much to turn around a team like the Eagles that is abundant in talent. Not to mention it certainly seems like he was looking for a way out of Oregon so he didnt have to deal with all the sanctions that apparently is coming there way. I dont want a guy like that coaching our Bucs. I rather have Schiano who we know will stay with us through thick and thin.

  71. OAR Says:

    Stevek
Why weren’t the Bucs more enjoyable this year to watch than last?
Why not go watch them Giants and Patriots then?
Why is Talib your favorite Patriots CB?
Is it Dom’s fault a couple of players used Aderall?
You do realize Kelly’s offense is scoring points in college against mediocre college teams right?
Are you going to join El Raton and jump ship for the Philly Ducks?
How is it 7 of our 9 losses were by 7 points or less be our QBs fault?

  72. FLBoyInDallas Says:

The Bucs missing out on Kelly is an example of addition by subtraction. Better off without him. I’ll take Schiano all day everyday and twice on Sundays over Kelly.

  73. kh Says:

    lightningbuc-

Barron had a pretty good year for me, he’ll get better with time and I think he played his best game against the Falcons which is encouraging. So he didnt light the world on fire as a rookie, Ronde Barber, a HOF was barely even on the active roster his rookie year. Plus Barron still made all-Rookie teams.

stevek – I insult cause my points are weak yet you offer no alternatives to other then to criticize Dominik. Who should we have as our QB then genius? IF you say Geno Smith. I think Freeman was still a good pick, he’s proven to be the best in his class, while that might not say much it’s still better then a handful of teams have. Idiot football fans place all the blame on the QB, if Freeman had a halfway decent defense this year we probably would have made the playoffs. It’s there where Dominik deserves some blame. Eric Wright in hindsight was a bad signing but at least Dominik made up for it by including the void in his contract and didn’t saddle the team with him for many years (like the Jets have done with Sanchez) he’s also playing Freemans contract situation well. Trading Talib was a no-brainer, how can you blame anyone for giving up on him when he was suspended for the umpteenth time. Qunicy Black played well last year so get some new schtick. Derrick Ward & Mike Nugent are so far in the past, get over it. For everyone of those signings theres been a Koenen and a VJ that have evened it out a bit.

re: the Chiefs 5 pro-bowlers that is irrelevant as I was discussing Dominik’s draft class this year. The Chiefs players are vets like Eric berry and Derrick Johnson.

  74. kh Says:

The Giants and Pats had bad defenses last year but not Bucs defense bad. The Saints by the way set some sort of record this year for defensive futility and look where that got them. Even one of the best QBs in the league couldnt overcome that.

  75. toneman850 Says:

King is over rated and he was along for the ride going to those NFC championship games. He was never a real starter, so this is mostly a backup jealous of a young good QB getting his shot.

  76. Don Says:

Shaun King is a bitter fat man

  77. Stevek Says:

    OAR,

Freeman should start, and the best QB available in the 4th round should be drafted.

    Kh,

Good points, but if Dom is not to blame than who?
I understand he and Rah were a package deal, but come on bro. After a 10-6 season, the only FA you take is a punter lol? Jonathan Joseph-2011 pro bowler was in FA? Why isn’t Dom at fault for that?

Why kick the tires with Wright last offseason? Cortland Finnegan should’ve been #1 target.

Is Dom to blame for such gaffes?

  78. Macabee Says:

    Flyboy,

Far be it from me to defend what Shaun King says, but to level a racist charge at him for making a controversial statement, something he is paid professionally to do, may be an over-reach.

I don’t profess to know what’s in a man’s heart, but I’ve never heard him say anything that was racist – stupid maybe but not racist. Could it not just be in the numbers rather than a particular bias? If a black commentator criticizes a NFL coach, it’s probably a white coach simply because most coaches are white. If a white commentator criticizes a NFL player, it is more than likely a black player because most NFL players are black.

To say that either may be racist would be a stretch. It’s a serious charge. I don’t think Joe would find the words of a racist credible. I read your posts and while you have your own inimitable style of saying things, I don’t think you mean to slander King unfairly with such a serious charge.

If it were me, and I’ve made similar misquotes, I would reconsider it!

  79. kh Says:

I blame the lack of FAs prior on the Glazers, it’s not as if Dominik wouldn’t have wanted to spend if he had their buy-off. Koenen for what its worth has been a great FA signing.

Cortland Finnegan was impossible to sign after the Nicks & VJ signings. We tried to go next best with Eric Wright and that was a bomb and I blame that on Dominik. But again, at least he had the foresight to include the void in his contract.

  80. Bucnjim Says:

“Good points, but if Dom is not to blame than who?” Bruce Allen! Is there one player left from the Allen/Gruden Drafts? This would be the time that these players would be in their prime!

  81. Neil Says:

Does Shaun “Burger” King do anything besides bitch and complain about everything?

  82. Sneedy16 Says:

    @Stevek

Cortland wasn’t coming here. He went straight to St. Louis and signed. Dom would have to break the bank on him.

  83. Sneedy16 Says:

Talib was the last person left from Bruce Allen’s Draft.

  84. the_buc_realist Says:

  88. Sneedy16 Says:

I forgot about those guys. He can sure draft OL but skill position not so much.

  89. Ramdog Says:

WTF does Shaun King know ?? I mean honestly how can you criticize a guy who gets 3 people named to the all-rookie team. Ummmm everyone in the world knows we took a long time to hire a coach after we were jilted by Chip Kelly. Then when we hired Schiano he had very few options as to the position coaches. I will listen to experts like Charlie Casserly, a person who was a GM and helped craft the Redskins Championship team, a little bit more than a moron like Shaun King. Casserly likes Schiano/Dominik and so do I. This year is big for both of them and Freeman as well. Hopefully they will all succeed and King will be out of a job !!!

    GO BUCS !!!!

  90. the_buc_realist Says:

  91. Trey Says:

I dont understand why you would feel the need to threaten to not come on this site anymore cuz of Shaun King articles? If you dont like an article… dont read it. Nobody asked you to read it or comment.

  93. 76buc76 Says:

Maybe King is racist.Bet he’d be a lot happier if Lovie Smith was our coach

  94. Sneedy16 Says:

    @the_buc_realist

Good in Washington? Washington already had a defense when before he got there. Shanahan wanted Griffen and sold the farm to get it. With 2 knees soon to be shot let me see how long his career last there.

  95. PRBucFan Says:

IF we had average QB play through the last six weeks of the season we’d be in the playoffs too…

    Just sayin’

  96. Bucsfan1 Says:

Who cares what Shaun King thinks!!!! Why his thoughts get posted is beyond me

  97. SeanyMac in SC Says:

About Shaun King, I do question his credibility. He and Ian Beckles are paid for spewing their opinions, which usually seem to be negative, and it gets people talking and responding. I would like to hear some solutions from him. Its very easy to throw darts at others. Haters going to hate.

  98. MTM Says:

I may not like Shaun King but he is pretty accurate on the Bucs issues. The top franchises build a team over time. The Bucs organization is under a constant rebuilding mode. The bottom line is the Glazers have to have a good GM in place. Dominick is not it. Hey maybe a great guy but his decisions over the past 3 yrs have not been putting the team any closer to the playoffs. Good coaches don’t want anything to do with this organization. It’s blatantly obvious at this point.

  99. PRBucFan Says:

His decisions this past offseason def did that

  100. Eric Says:

Washington did not have a defense before Bruce got there.

Morris, cousins, RGIII, Trent Williams and a lot of good FA’s like Garçon have turned things around, in the same period of time rock has been here.

Man has done outstanding work up there.

  101. SombreoBro Says:

    Sooner:

I gotta tell ya…it is offensive that you say King “lead the Bucs to the NFC Championship game”.

    Yet it is accurate.

Joe finds it offensive that Myron Lewis is on an NFL roster. But wishful thinking doesn’t make it so.

Shaun King never “lead” the team, he was the QB of choice by Dungy, a real offensive mastermind.
Joe needs to STFU and get off his high horse.

  102. FLBoyInDallas Says:

    @Maccabee

I don’t say it lightly, and I don’t claim it’s an irrefutable fact. It’s just my opinion based on his reactions to certain situations and just a feeling I get when he takes these stands. It’s based on much more than just this latest interview, too. And yes I realize that a black commentator criticizing a white coach isn’t necessarily racist, and neither is it necessarily racist when the opposite happens.

I am slow, very slow, to pull the race card because I realize it’s way overused. It’s just that my opinion of King is that he’s a closet racist (not an obvious or a blatant one)…the type you have to know from experience. Call it a gut feeling or an educated guess based on much life experience. I would be more than happy to have it be otherwise, believe me. And I state again that this is my personal opinion of the man. Not stating it as fact and yes I am open to being incorrect.

  103. PRBucFan Says:

“Joe needs to STFU and get off his high horse.”

… Really? Aren’t you the one coming to Joe’s site?

  104. Macabee Says:

    Flyboy,

I take you at your word and understand your sentiment. Let’s hope that at worst he is just woefully uninformed and simply seeks a media platform whenever it is offered. Looking forward to your next post!

  105. Mac Says:

I saw Freeman with leads against the Giants,Saints, Falcons,Eagles, and Redskins, until Freeman allowed those other qbs to comeback on us he really sucks as a cornerback! Why would you argue to replace a qb when your defense almost broke a record giving up passing yards in a league that is pass happy, take care of the defense its the biggest problem, the way some of you talk we need a qb the defense is fine!It will be easier to get a better qb or better corners, maybe take seven points off points scored against us instead of saying freeman needs to score more,Ill tell you what Arizona will give us Two QBS for Freeman.

  106. 76buc76 Says:

We won the superbowl 10 year’s ago.On average a team should win once every 32 year’s.Lot’s of team’s have never won one.All I’m saying is I’m not nearly as hungary as say a Viking’s fan or an Eagle fan.In the late 90’s I was so cocky about the Buc’s but after disapointment after disapointment.I got humbled and tempered my expectation’s.It’s a long painful process but all I want is a team that is a contender for a 5-7 year’s.With all the cap space and emerging star’s on this team I’m totally sold on GM and coach.Freeman has his future in his hand’s excell and he’ll get paid.Choke and he’s history with a very strong QB class next year.If they are not confident that Freeman is the guy they should trade him.I’d take KC second rounder this year,First next year. Then lmao when Freeman set the record for turnover’s in a season.27 TD’s 27 turnover’s with an elite #1WR and rb Maybe the best #2WR.Is unexcusable Freeman throw’s 5 passes every game way way off. It’s not his compleation percentage put the 5 wasted down’s that is the problem.Take those five throw’s away and he’s a top 10 QB.I’m not talking about slightly behind or dropped passes.Even the worst QB’s in the league don’t throw 5 Ugly ball’s a game.

  107. Mac Says:

I ould love to see King and his career best 18 tds in a season win in the league now,a career 56% passer, perfect example of a winner according to some of you .I think he is mad because he got benched after he went ten and six, goes to show that some coaches know when a defense win and lose games, winning is not the sole blame of the qb and neither is LOSING

  108. PRBucFan Says:

Keep trying to convince yourself of that

  109. 76buc76 Says:

I’m sure the Freeman guy’s won’t quote stat’s when he break’s the franchise INT record next season.3 of his first four season’s he’s been top 5 in INT’s.3 of his first 4 season’s he’s been in the top 10 in fumbles. But dam 4000 yard’s let’s ink this guy lol

  110. PRBucFan Says:

    Lol

  111. 76buc76 Says:

Wait my bad he’ll never catch Vinny’s 112.I just assumed he was closing in on it.Freeman has 63 so that’s not gunna happen.112 holy smokes how is that even possible.

  112. SilenceTheCritics Says:

Vinny is the NFL’s all time leader in interceptions.

  113. SilenceTheCritics Says:

    or close to it anyways

  114. Piratic Says:

Sean King has become the worst part of JBF.

  115. Capt. Edward Teach Says:

King is looking more like Sapp everyday

  116. BigMacAttack Says:

Chip Kelly sucks. Bobby Petrino 2.0

Meyer did more in his first year with the Buckeyes.

Ray Horton is a 3-4 guy but a good coach. Might be worth a look at running the 4-3 with wrinkles.

I didn’t listen to King, instead I read yourall comments. King is a dingaling and enjoys his own voice far too much. He’s a prime example of somebody talking that really has nothing to say. Obama needs to ban him and his 30 round cheeseburgers.

I hope Eric gets laid this week.

Has anyone seen that new Corvette? Pretty sweet.

  117. BigMacAttack Says:

Does anyone understand Lou Holtz or know what language he is speaking???

  118. IdahoBucsfan Says:

Sometimes I wonder if King’s opinions are racially charged.

  119. OAR Says:

    BigMac
    Agree about Kelly and King!

And, yes, that new vette looks pretty cool. It’s about time they redsigned that thing. The last 8 or 9 years the design has been stale!

As for Lou, I think he speaks senior-ese.

  120. Bucnjim Says:

    76Buc,

Freeman had 27TD’s to 17 Int’s 2 fumbles. 8 of those Int’s were in a two game stretch. Andrew Luck who everyone is in love with had 23TD’s to 18Int’s with a passer rating of 76.5. Even with some of his accuracy issues; Freeman is by far the best QB we’ve ever had on this team. I’m assuming you’ve been a fan since the beginning so you should know better than anyone here that this is the most exciting offense this organization has ever had. He’ll never be Brady,Brees, or Manning so give him a break and see what he can do this year when everyone is healthy.

  121. Mac Says:

One more year under contact,so fill holes on defense maybe better year for qbs next year, but one thing is for sure, winning percentage is lower with a last rank passing defense than having Free at qb,what rookie played with a defense this bad,we switched coaches so maybe we didnt explode like the niners did when they got Harbaugh but we have a clearer picture of who is starting, who can play,we didnt play as if we didnt care this year.I want a superbowl every year but when we dont get it I dont wine and cry because we dont have Brady, Brees,or one of the Mannings,or put all the blame on Freeman.

  122. Piratic Says:

    @BigMacAttack
I’ve worked with Lou Holtz a few times and I can tell you that he is more understandable during normal conversation. His voice is not as hoarse or as out-of-breath. Too many years yelling his head off have taken their toll.

  123. williethewonder Says:

I don’t know why so many are saying that king is a racist or closet racist. Don’t you remember how before his show got kicked off the radio he had a “white boy wednesday” once a week? Now does that sound racist to you?

  124. Piratic Says:

    @williethewonder:
    Yup.

  125. Miguel El Magnifico Says:

Again, Shaun King is right on the mark, the Bucs are wasting time with a mediocre coach from a mediocre school with a mediocre record.

    @the_buc_realist

    “Are you Miguel?”

Come on guys, I miss a couple days and you guys want to give away my crown as the most intelligent poster on JBF>

  126. Bucfan Says:

Many hate on Shaun King but he’s right most of the time and his analysis are on point. He’s right about Mark Dominik. Spending 4 high picks on the dline and yet we’re still bottom 5 in sacks and pressuring the qb. Failed to upgrade after the 2010 season. Coulda got a cb like jonathon Joseph then.

Did well in 2012 offseason but were still mediocre team with an inconsistent qb.

I think schiano might turn out to be a great hire but it’s concerning that no quality name assistants want to come here.
