“Forget About Me. I love You.”

November 12th, 2012

“Hoo, hoo. Toes on the line everybody. Because I love you.”

Joe’s a huge fan of Greg Schiano’s maniacal “Family, 1, 2, 3” cheer.

And Joe really enjoyed this afternoon’s deeper peek into Schiano’s family philosophy, as revealed by Doug Martin on The Jim Rome Show on WDAE-AM.

“Forget about me. I love you,” Martin explained.

Yeah, Joe knows Schiano learned under renowned leaders like Joe Paterno and Butch Davis, but hearing this Joe wondered if Schiano also could have drawn inspiration from Barney the dinosaur?

The I-love-you philosophy sure worked for the purple dinosaur for two decades. Barney also pretty much advises kids to live a life by Greg Schiano’s credo, “a humble, unselfish attitude of sacrifice.”

Joe won’t dig any deeper into this theory.

    I prefer the Jackie Moon philosophy E.L.E-everybody love everybody

    OK Joe, your killing me! This did make me chuckle though…keep up the great work.

    Yeah. I like it too Joe. I remember motivational messages to fight selfishness like, “There’s no I in TEAM” … that F.A.M.I.L.Y. acronym is a very deep and personal message.

    Schiano used it at Rutgers with tremendous success and many other organizations use it as a reminder that there’s no room for selfishness in a family … or on a team or at the workplace. You can’t get the pigskin into the end-zone by yourself. It takes the entire team … the entire family.

    The Bucs are a family … all of us fans are a big part of that family too. We should ALL get those bracelets they wear. Bring on the unity and strength!! #BucsFamily!!

    Mike Sullivan looks a little like Baby Bop come to think of it.

    @stimpy

    True. True. lol

    But there is “ME” … so hopefully it’ll translate to ‘Forget About ME’.
    They gotta stay tight. No matter the mantra (and I like the whole F.A.M.I.L.Y. thing) they gotta keep this going and keep gelling and bonding. Go Bucs!
