Plan For Doug Martin, LeGarrette Blount Fluid

September 3rd, 2012

Last week Bucs coach Greg Schiano stated that Doug Martin is the Bucs No. 1 running back. Given the fact Schiano wants a two-headed monster to carry the ball, it’s a given that LeGarrette Blount will get his share of carries.

And he will. But Schiano said, though he has an idea how he wants to use the two backs, it is the game that will dictate who gets how many carries.

“A lot of it is by feel, yeah, because things change,” Schiano said. “Now, do we have a plan? Sure, we have a plan. But I think [who gets how many carries is determined by] how things are going. If a guy gets hot, you don’t want to take him out. He is hot for a reason, let him go.

“To say ‘This is how it is going to unfold… ‘ I can’t do that. As long as we get them their reps in practice so they can do their role. It is clearly communicated to each player what their role is this week. That may change next week. This week this is your role and you have to go out and execute your role.”

Schiano also talked about how rookies always hit the dreaded “wall” and that some players can handle it and some cannot. This all but tells Joe that Martin’s carries will be measured in order to help him get through the rookie wall later in the season.

This is why the trading Blount talk is idiotic.

  2. Miguel Grande Says:

The plan is……….we got no plan!

  3. BKNYfootballhead Says:

    @Miguel

Your comments are the torture test.

Every comment you make has neither the slightest knowledgable insight or factual integrity. Hell, not even a touch of satisfactory humor; unless we’re all laughing at you.

The one thing you’ve accomplished is master Thomas 2.2 as the most annoying poster on JBF.

Learn some humility for us all.

  4. Capt. Jean Lafitte Says:

    @Miguel

A General never discusses his plans with the enemy. Why would Schiano discuss his plans for Carolina. Stupid comment.

  5. SilenceTheCritics Says:

Demarcus van dyke was cut from the raiders… young fast athletic CB, someone is going to pick him up, wonder if were interested?

  6. AtlBucsFan Says:

@Miguel – Schiano is not going give our upcoming opponents any information that is going to help them scheme against us. You just don’t give that information out. He wants our opponents to figure it out as they are looking at our backsides crossing the goal line! Preferably several times.

  7. Kryq Says:

I agree they should take a look at Demarcus Van Dyke.

  8. J-VilleBuc Says:

They should!! Graham and Caddy did, who ever was hot that game got the most carries, but that’s why Blount has to be able to catch the ball and block on 3rd downs.

  9. Mike J Says:

It almost goes without saying that this is the obvious approach.

  10. Miguel Grande Says:

Lighten up guys, I simply encapsulated the article into one sentence.

I can’t help it that I’ve never participated in organized sports, therefore I can not possibly understand the inner workings of this intricate chess match you Amerikan’s mistakenly call football.

  11. Miguel Grande Says:

Thomas must be on vacation or in jail.

  12. Mr. Patrick Says:

With injuries mounting in the NFL every year, you can’t have too many good backs.

  13. Drew Says:

    @Miguel,

Are you an American citizen? Your statement leads us to believe you are not and currently live in Mexico.

    Correction: Amerikan’s is American’s.

  14. NJBucsFan Says:

I really think Miguel is Kellen Winslow. He already said he lived in the Pacific time zone (Seattle haha until he was cut). Hates Schiano and complains about the conditioning test. Makes a lot or military comments ( little general) and Winslow does call himself a soldier.

If we chose to ignore his ignorance….he will go away. Remember your younger sibling annoying the crap out of you and your parents said ignore them…just do it.

  15. Eric Says:

I hope he pays attention to that little detail known as the scoreboard.

We’re playing the Carolina, not the Pittsburgh, Panthers.

So if they play Blount muscle hamster isn’t hot, so is it a good or bad thing if Blount gets a lot of play? Hopefully somebody is effective running.

  16. bob Says:

i dont care who carries the ball as long as they end up in the inzone

  17. Mike J Says:

Miguel Grande , so am I to surmise that you are not a fan, but a troll??

  18. BucsFan007 Says:

Man, Darn it, I actually read the sentence before I looked at the poster’s name! I swore I’d never read any more of his comments. This sucks.

  19. bucobruce Says:

WOOOOOOOOOO,I was just thinking of claiborne ripping Cam Fignewtons head off.

  20. Miguel Grande Says:

Grande has been an athletic supporter of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers since 1975, which was before they drafted LeRoy Selmon. A couple forum bullies will never dim that passion.

Grande even survived the Ray Perkins and Raheem Morris era’s. Miguel has staying power and endurance. Miguel will survive the New Schiano Order.

Throughout the free world it is know as Amerika.

  21. Have A Nice Day Says:

@Mike J He is a Tampa troll. One of those fans who find joy crapping on the team more than rooting for them. He was even bashing Schiano on the suntimes website(Chicgo newspaper) about Okoye.

I wouldn’t pay it any mind. A new troll is born every second. You just have to live with it.

  22. dabigjimboski Says:

haha you said it Grande. You sure are an “athletic supporter.”

  23. NJBucsFan Says:

I wish we would kick the tires on Deuce Litui. He could be a BIG stopgap that will help the run game. The Titans have him in for a visit now.

  24. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Says:

I can’t wait for opening day at Tampa Stadium. We can beat Carolina, IF we play like we did with New England.
I think if we beat Carolina, Tampa Fans will come back to the games, and there will be football fever in our town again.

  25. Mr Lucky Says:

Lots of talk but I’ll wait until Sunday to see if the Bucs ACTUALLY try to establish a running game – so far in preseason they haven’t

  26. Mr Lucky Says:

Wouldn’t it be nice if Martin and Blount would become the new “WD40” combo?

  27. The Dutcher Journal (Pete Dutcher) Says:

    Miguel Grande
I’m sure you get lots of Bucs games in Mexico…especially in the 70s. And you sure do like to blame coaches. Every true fan knows Culverhouse was the reason the Bucs did poorly. Sure you were a fan in 75. Before the NFL was on direct tv and before it was viewed in Mexico.

  28. Miguel Grande Says:

    Grande is a Gringo.

  29. The Dutcher Journal (Pete Dutcher) Says:

Riiight….cause Miguel is such a “gringo” name, lol. You name even links to Mexico 😉

If you truly are a true Bucs fan, you are better served to avoid negativity because when things go badly for the team, it makes it all the more frustrating. You end up hating a team you profess to care about.

Stay positive and encourage exceptional development. Imagine if someone did that for you.

    thumbs up! 1000% agree with.
i know it is hard, but it is best not to feed a troll.

miguel payasito is such a waste of bandwidth. he cries foul of ad hominum attacks, and yet he does it to our coach, players, country, et al. he cries about internet bullies, and yet he trolls and stirs the pot, attacks schiano, players, et al. he wants to be thomas’ replacement so bad, and yet his comments and conspiracy theories are flimsy and add little to no value.

    well, adios, miguel.
