Bucs Tackling Impresses Schiano

September 24th, 2012

Amid the agony of the brutal, painful loss to the Cowboys yesterday, there were legitimate bright spots.

Even the leader of the New Schiano Order was pumped up talking about tackling stats (no, they’re not for losers) on his radio show this evening on WDAE-AM 620.

“It was the least number of missed tackles in our three games. We ended up having 11 TFLs (tackles for loss). That’s a good day,” Schiano said.

No, coach. Eleven tackles for a loss is a phenomenal day. Plus the Bucs defense forced three turnovers.

There’s no question that Schiano has fixed the Bucs defense when it comes to tackling and run defense. Perhaps it’s time now for Schiano to move his executive expertise to the offensive gameplan.

Mason Foster in particular looked awesome. im itching to get his jersey after watching that game from him. he was a beast.

blunt blunt blunt blunt blunt blunt blunt blunt blunt

  3. Rrsrq Says:

    Rushing against the Bucs
    Panthers = 10 yards
    Giants = 94 yards
    Cowboys = 38 yards

When you only give up 47 rushing yards per game, shouldn’t you be at least 2-1, hopefully they put it all together, going to need to against the Skins with their zone running scheme and RGIII

There’s no question that Schiano has screwed the Buc’s offense up when it comes to running and passing, perhaps it’s time to move his executive experience to collecting fines, making up ridiculous rules and dreaming up crazy crap to embarrass Tampa Bay with.

    Blount, Blount, Blount, Blount!!!

  5. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Clayborne officially on IR. That blows.

  6. upthegut Says:

Too bad we can’t put Miguel grans on IR for the season.

  7. raphael Says:

This team is gonna be good …real soon … including Josh Freeman !

  8. blackmagic00 Says:

Too bad we can’t release Miguel Grande.

  9. raphael Says:

Mason Foster is in Beast mode

  10. raphael Says:

Miguel is just a Troll…thats all..anything for attention..

  11. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Who’s Miguel? Never heard of him.

  12. raphael Says:

We aer gonna need all the tackling this week with RG 3 coming to town !!!!!!!!

  13. Hawaiian Buc Says:

It will be interesting to see what happens if the Redskins are missing their LT this week. He has a bone bruise and will probably be questionable. Since we don’t have a RDE, perhaps it will be a wash and we can get some pressure on that side. I would really feel better if Te’o-Nesheim would change his number from #50 if he is going to play DE. I know it’s kind of stupid, but it makes me nervous having a DE wearing a LB number. It reminds me of a couple years ago when NE tried unsuccessfully to use their CB as a DE.

Washington also has one of the worst defenses in the league, so if there is a game to “right” our offense, this is the one. I see this as a must win game for us.

  14. Macabee Says:

I could be wrong, but I think the Cam Newtons, Mike Vicks, and the RG IIIs play right into the strength of this defense. I like our chances against RG III!

  15. raphael Says:

wonder what Andre Carter is doing now??

our offense and Freeman will be fine. its just growing pains now, but i agree we must win this week !

  16. Patrick Says:

growing pains my ass. I hope Freeman gets an as* whooping in practice this week. No excuses, that performance was embarrassing as hell for all Bucs fans.

Not when your offense is using a playbook from the 1940’s. And not when you refuse to take what the defense gives you. Freeman has to go up top. And the OC needs to call plays so Freeman can go up top. Jackson and Williams will take care of the rest.

  18. raphael Says:

@patrick…I believe Coach Shiano more than you…call me crazy..The offense and Freeman will be good !

  19. NJBucsFan Says:

Any word about who will fill Clayborn’s roster spot?

  20. Mike J Says:

Looked like they revamped the coverages, mixing in some zone. The secondary showed looks that kept Romo confused at first, through he did adapt as the game wore on.
BTW–going into tonight, the Bucs lead the NFL in passes defensed. Some of those were by the line.

  21. Eric Says:

Gotta see more before I accept that it’s “fixed”‘, but no doubt that the run defense is vastly improved over the first three games.

And Eli made the defense look like fools.

Remember we were 4-2 last year with a lot of crowing before the bottom fell out.

  22. Patrick Says:

Andre Carter had 10 sacks last year with the Patriots.

We NEED to sign this guy now.

  23. RED MAN Says:

Andre Carter has worked out for the Raiders twice now and still hasn’t been signed so sounds like he still isn’t healthy. We have to pray our own guys can step up.

  24. Teddy Says:

I thought the Bucs defense had a phenomenal day, one very reminiscent of the defenses of yore, but I found it interesting that they had such a great day and I don’t recall hearing Ronde Barber’s name called even once. I think that is a good indicator of how the young pups are coming along.

  25. Teddy Says:

Is D.J. Bryant ready to make the step up from the practice squad to the active roster, or do they place a call to E.J. Wilson, whom they cut in the preseason?

Or, do they go with who they have in place (Johnson and Te’o-Nesheim) and focus that extra roster spot on another area of need (TE…ahem…WR)?

  26. Danny C Says:

I truly see us making a huge jump next year. We’re going to struggle this year that’s to be expected I really wish people would understand that. The 49ers and Lions didn’t just pop out of no where they were showing some of the same flashes we are now (with a lot of the misses we are too) the year before last. It’s now three games straight we held our opponents to less than 100 yard rush which is 2nd in the league only to Seattle who has yet to play this week.

  27. Drew Says:

The Buc D should be allowed to drill Freeman in practice to show their displeasure with him. In fact, the fans should be allowed to pay, let’s say $5 a pop to show their displeasure. This very well may be the recipe to waking his sorry ARSE up.

  28. ElioT Says:

With the right play calls/scheme these dudes are playing sound defense. Looking very good with everyone doing their job. Gonna be a big loss with Clayborn on the IR, and I hope Johnson can step up and play some decent ball. Te’o-Whatever needs to change his number, but he must have some talent and skills if he has stayed on this team since last year.

Although it won’t matter what this D does unless #5 can get his s**t together and play QB like a grown man and a real leader and not some sorry excuse for a 1st round draft pick and team captain!

Hope the D can maintain their current path and our offense to put up some points!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!

  29. blackmagic00 Says:

The integrity of the game is gone!!!!! F- the NFL. Gb won and this season is now tainted. Thank you dumb a$$ NFL for ruining our 2012 season. I’m out.

  30. BigMacAttack Says:

Bm00 I agree. I watched the game too. Worst call possibly ever or at least since Brady’s tuck rule against Chucky.

I think only people in the entire universe that saw it as a TD catch was the idiot ref who called it and the ref in the review booth with a gun to his head.

The game has really gone to hell. These refs are a total joke and so is Goodell’s because of it.

  31. espo Says:

The tuck rule wasn’t a bad call, it was a bad rule.

The worst call was Simeon Rice getting penalized for illegal jumping to cost us the MNF game against Indy.

  32. BucFan20 Says:

You do not “right ” your offense against one of the worst defenses in the NFL. That just shows the 2010 season. Beating garbage defenses and beat by good ones.
