Bonecrusher Bennett All Over The Field

September 23rd, 2012

Bucs fans haven’t seen ferocious, relentless defensive end play like Michael Bennett has turned out this season in many, many years.

Bennett was a handful last week without recording a sack, but this week Bennett shined for all to see. Dallas right tackle Doug Free didn’t known what hit him. Bennett had two sacks, was stout against the run and never let up, even late in the fourth quarter he tipped Tony Romo’s first-down pass when the Cowboys were driving to lead by two scores.

Bennett has three sacks in three games and is en route to a massive unrestricted free agent payday if he can stay healthy.

There’s a lot to celebrate on the Bucs defensive line. Hopefully they’ll make a meal out of an athletic rookie QB next week against Washington.

    I havent been this impressed by a buc defense in a long time they put some gigantic hits on romo that made me rewind again and again!!!!!! All we needed was a decent offense hell I dont think we needed to score any more points just dont turn it over and less three and outs and I think the D wouldve let up less points.

    Mccoy was banging heads as well but I’m sure his skrilla is going to be a little depleted when they review the tape on that headshot to Homo he said bang I said boom they said pow a johnny madden moment

    Bennett is a beast!!

    Hand him Freeman’s salary

    Bennett, Mccoy and Foster played extremely well today! Hope they keep it going without taking a game off like last week vs the giants

  7. Bobby Says:

    Yeah, Foster was an absolute animal today. I lost count of TFL against the run. I think he had 4. He was right where he was supposed to be all day long. Great defensive game.

    @507 Bucs fan,

    I thought they took off last week too. Then I watched the game again. On what seemed like every play, they were twisting and stunting, which made the path to the QB way too long. Steve White had a great post on Facebook explaining it and why it won’t be successful. If you noticed today, they didn’t do hardly any stunting. I think they over thought the strategy last week.

    They need to re-sign Bennett ASAP before he keeps making it harder and harder to do.

    In the meantime, this is a good D. If Clayborn is done, perhaps Andre Carter would be the logical choice.

    DaQuan Bowers is still several weeks away from being even a possible contributor.

    There’s one more young guy out there that might help. Butch Davis’ former Tar Heel, Donte Paige-Moss should be nearly recovered from his torn ACL in his bowl game in January. At one point he was considered a sure-fire 1st round pick. He is free to be picked up and put on the roster or practice squad. Anybody know any news about him?

    The guy has been steadily improving his entire career. He seems to get better with every snap. His performance tonight is one to remember. Best night of a Bucs DE in ages.

    Bennett is going to make some crazy money in the offseason.

  11. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    It’s funny because Steve White has been singing this guy’s praises for quite a while now, before he did anything but over-persue and make silly mistakes. Now he is a sound run defender and a very good pass rusher. Pay this man, and pay him now.

  12. Have A Nice Day Says:

    @Hawaiian Buc – Did you ever read White’s blog? It was great. I want badly for it’s return. I’d be willing to pay. He broke things down without playing to the layman.

    I remember when he would write for this very site. Speaking of….

    Hey Joe, whatever ever happened to Steve White writing pieces for this site? Is he just doing other things now?

  13. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @HAND,

    Oh yeah, I always read it. It was great. He would always talk about Bennett, and saying how we should lock him down long term. He had a great post on facebook the other day explaining the stunts we used last week against NY, and how they would never work in the NFL. He does a really good job of breaking things down and making it understandable for people like me.

  14. Have A Nice Day Says:

    @Hawaiian Buc – Well, you aren’t a member of the football “layman”. You know your stuff and have proven so many times over. You “get” the game. (Not to say I never disagree with you as I obviously have in the past)

    I just wish there was a way to coax Steve White back to the blog. I have yet to find anything like it outside of PFF; still, PFF lacks the vigor and passion White put into his analyses.

    The D-line is close to him and he did it righteous justice with his breakdowns.

  15. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    Thanks HAND, right back at you. Disagreements are what make this site fun. I’ve been right quite a bit, but have probably been wrong just as much.

    I wish White would come back too. He was such a great source on information for us.
