Bucs Valued At $981 Million

July 17th, 2012

Every year Forbes magazine ranks the value of sports franchises using some sort of top secret formulas that can magically see privately held accounting books.

What a fabulous scam to drive traffic to their website!

Joe has taken their bait and is pleased to say Team Glazer’s Buccaneeers checked in as the 29th most valuable sports franchise in the world with a Forbes value of $981 million.

Joe still remembers all the howling in the local and national media when Malcolm Glazer slammed down $190 million or so in his bid for the Buccaneers and kicked aside George Steinbrenner and various other big shots in 1995.

Glazer overpaid, the pundits said. Ha!

Wow! Bucs is worth a little under 1 billion dollars?? I knew I should of made a bid for the Bucs when it was for sale. Yeah right like I had that kind of money laying around, I was still at Chamberlain High School.

Wow imagine a George Steinbrenner owned bucs team!!! I don’t think we would ever have been the low salary cap team.

b/c of the new stadium we had to pay for or else they were moving the team. I wish Eddie Debartolo or the Outback Steakhouse group would’ve bought it

  4. GurS Says:

Yeah, I mean what have they done for the team, it’s not like they brought a Super Bowl to Tampa Bay or anything. If only someone else had bought them instead, eh? Coz they were doing so well at the time.

  5. Scubog Says:

I hope Oregano reads this. He somehow thinks the Glazers are debt-ridden and about to have Bryan’s house on Harbor Island repossessed.

  6. Eric Says:

Winning the super bowl is not highly regarded around here.

  7. Amar Says:

What’s with the three e’s in Buccaneers?
