Last Week Doesn’t Matter

November 4th, 2011

Last week the Saints got literally seal-clubbed by the lowly Lambs in St. Louis, with A.J. Feeley leading the way — A.J. Feeley! Also, Saints quarterback Drew Brees was put on the ground six times. But Pat Kirwan, along with Jason Horowitz, explain how the Bucs don’t have the personnel to duplicate what the Lambs did defensively in this CBSSports.com video.

Yet some how we have beat them twice in a row.

  2. dr.buc Says:

needless to say we beat them 3 weeks ago w/ the same defensive personnel. u amaze me pat kirwan

  3. stevek Says:

Pat Kirwin isn’t cool enough to wear that mustahe.

    His opinion= Dookie

  4. Jrock Says:

30-17 Pat, really? The dude never eats crow, even when he’s wrong. Gsus

My problem with these analysts is they heavily research the popular teams and refer to a short list of talking points regarding the teams they don’t know enough about. Kirwin should have looked at the tape of the last time these teams met. The Saints just aren’t as good as Kirwin hopes.

These guys pick what they want. They pick.the Saints because they want the saints to win. Not saying they are saints fans, but they love the saints, packers, eagles and patriots. They love them because they are sexy and trendy. They can’t stand the fact that a small market boring team can make their trendy team irrelevant. We may lose, but considering we beat the Saints 3 out of the last 4 times we played them, one can hardly say that the Bucs don’t match up. if we win, they will have million excuses for Brees…..according to Peter King and Kirwin, Brees has never been beat….he either wins, or he made mistakes and gave the game away.

You know what doesn’t matter, what REALLY doesn’t matter? What some “expert” guesses about the outcome of an NFL game. As far as I know, it’s played by the players on the field. The players who have won or lost games by their own efforts.

Seems to me the Buccaneers play the Saints quite well, home or away, and they are going to get a great chance to prove themselves again Sunday, to shock the “experts” and their minions who give a crap what they “think.”

A congressman was seated next to a little girl on an airplane so
he turned to her and said, “Do you want to talk? Flights go quicker
if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passenger.”

The little girl, who had just started to read her book, replied to the
total stranger, “What would you want to talk about?”
“Oh, I don’t know,” said the congressman. “How about global warming ,
universal health care , or stimulus packages?” as he smiled smugly.

“OK,” she said. “Those could be interesting topics but let me ask you
a question first. A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff –
grass. Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat
patty, but a horse produces clumps. Why do you suppose that is?”

The legislator, visibly surprised by the little girl’s intelligence,
thinks about it and says, “Hmmm, I have no idea.”

To which the little girl replies, “Do you really feel qualified to
discuss global warming, universal health care, or the economy, when you
    don’t know $h!t?”

And then she went back to reading her book.

    @BigMacAttack I like that.

Ugh, not the biggest Kirwan fan, this video shows why. He pretends like the last game never happened. We didn’t have a sack but Clayborn had a great game and we were in Brees’ face all day. Now we have Gerald back? Hell yeah. I’m feeling goooood about this game.

  11. Brandon Says:

You listen to anybody talk about one or two aspects of a game and they can convince you that the other 100 players don’t play a role.

Sorry, Patty. What doomed the Saints against the Rams wasn’t the fire zone blitz you claim, but the fact that Chris Long could not be blocked at LDE. He had 3 sacks (I think) and numerous more QB hits. Michael Bennett is a similiar type of DE as Long. A power-speed-motor guy. If anybody can duplicate what Long did, it is Bennett. Factor in that the Bucs beat the Saints a few weeks ago while missing their best offensive and defensive players and will be getting those players back and it is easy to see how the Bucs could duplicate the Rams success.

The Bucs are superior to the Rams on the DL. Considering 75% of the Rams DBs were recent free agent acquisitions, it’s also safe to say the Buc DBs are better as well.

Offensively, Blount compares favorably to Steven Jackson… but let’s face it, Josh Freeman is no AJ Feeley, and that’s a good thing. I’m not guaranteeing a win, but I am guaranteeing a good showing by the Bucs…. not the blow out that these blowhards are predicting.

  12. Capt.Tim Says:

    Ok, time for a prediction!
I think the saints, anticipating a heavy dose of Blount, load the box. I then predict that Josh, coming off the Bye week, returns to form, and mutilate their equally pourous secondary.

Big week for Benn, Briscoe, and Blount receiving.

I also predict that The D-Line wreaks havoc! In a surprise Prediction, I pick this week for Bowers to have his” coming out” game. He is too talented to stay quiet any longer! I think McCoy and Price have Brees scrambling into DRs all day.

Now, if we can just get our ” team strength” secondary ( yeah, Right.) to maintain coverage for 3 seconds every play, then we win . .

  13. BigMacAttack Says:

    @Brandon,
One big diff this week is the Saints got their Right Tackle, Zach Strief back and Bennett will not be playing against the same guy. He is just coming off a knee injury so it may not be that much of an upgrade for them but he is a big boy. As a unit though, I feel the Bucs have a better D line and should be able to start making it rain on QB’s.

  14. BigMacAttack Says:

Yeah Captain, Bowers is due. I can’t wait until tomorrow.

  15. flmike Says:

The amazing thing is Kirwan is a huge Bucs supporter, he lives in Naples part time and follows the team fairly closely. If you listen to him on Siriusxm as soon as someone mentions the Bucs PK goes on a 10 minute rant on how good this young team is and how we have the best young QB, but picking them against one of the “Teams” is apparently a No-No. The Saints are paralleling the other recent great offensive teams, they’ve spent all their effort on the offense, but the D suffers and you become inconsistent because you can’t stop anyone.

Opinions are like a-holes , everybody’s got one . I love it when all the ‘experts’ pick against the Bucs , then they can come out , win , and shove it down their throats . Hope to see brees running for safety the entire game . Bigmacattack = hilarious
