Price Still Standing

September 1st, 2011

Joe didn’t make enough of a fuss over Brian Price playing against Miami last week and flashing his trademark burst and coming out of the game healthy.

What a warrior this guy is to return from his horrific hamstring/pelvis surgery.

And there he was tonight getting the start and a pile of snaps against the Washington Redskins’ first-team offensive line. Price was disruptive and it seems he’ll be able to contribute legitimately this season.

Mark Dominik even took to the Ch. 10 airwaves to praise Price for playing about 30 snaps tonight and impressing.

Talk about competition at nose tackle.

Price played well tonight. You would never know the guy had major hip surgery. Unbelievable hope he stays on the field.

McCargo has impressed since he’s been here as well. Spent most of the last 2 games focusing on the DL and he’s really been a force even with limited practice time.

Brian Price is very young and had a career-ending injury. He’s talented, worth keeping, and shouldn’t be rushed back into service. Regardless of his continuing development to get back into shape, I would put him back on IR and give him the time needed to come back 100% or he will never make it back. With McCargo’s play last night, we will have depth at DT.

Is it possible to be a “warrior” and gain 70 pounds in the offseason eating cheeseburgers ??

Yes I do have quite a burst . You should see my burst through the drive-thru line.

If I could play the preseason redskins every week it might not matter that I’m morbidly obese !

@Brian Keep on eating those burgers because you looked great during the game.

lay off price have ur hamstrings ripped off the back of ur legs and play as well as he has.

Good to see. I did not expect Price to contirbute this year. With Miller hurting, it is good to see the DT depth coming around.

I am now more concerned about TE depth, with K2’s knees and Stockers hip, they might need to get 4 (Hardy & ?)

I watched every play over and over with NFL preseason live. Price looked like a fat, slow load who is a good ways away from football shape. The Defensive tackle who was getting penetration was John McCargo not Brian Price.

  9. Mauha Deeb Says:

@Beckles yes, Price certainly looked out of breath at times but he still got penetration(that’s what she said) at times. However, it is more than clear he is not ready to be an every down DT. He needs a lot of endurance and cardio training and I don’t think Zumba is going to cut it.

  10. Garv Says:

I thought he looked good last night. And the thing is, he’s going to get much better. He makes the team and contributes in rotation this year. Nice comeback from a serious injury IMO.

  11. Eric Says:

Nice to see the guy play, but why all the extra weight? Would think you would keep that down, not up, with such an injury.

More weight to hold up and all.

    Well see.

  12. Mauha Deeb Says:

@Eric At the beginning I thought it might have been Okam…. I didn’t realize the guy was so rotund.
As far as the weight goes, he clearly loves his food, as do I. I can only imagine a hip surgery would render you physically useless for a good amount of time, but you still gotta eat. Life is food, family and friends. The food part only gets in the way when you can’t move. Price is understanding that. I’m sure the pounds will shed as the hip heals and the days go by.

@Brian “Blubber” Price: I’m pretty sure you’re a putz. I spoke to my orthopedist last week while I was in for a visit, I asked her about an injury like Price’s. She said best estimate for full recovery by an average person would be 12-24 months, the first 9-12 should be spent off your feet. Now, we are not dealing with the average person here, we are dealing with an elite athlete, if you have made it this far, you are an elite athlete, we aere also dealing with a LARGE human, who probably gains weight by just looking at the menu.
