More Analysis Of Lions-Bucs

September 10th, 2011

Derek “Old School” Fournier of WhatTheBuc.net believes the Bucs can beat the Lions if they control the ball and keep Calvin Johnson off the field. But how exactly can they do this? Let “Old School” explain.

God, I can’t wait for Sunday!!!!!!!!!!

ps – Joe, the “Advertise Here” banner is rendering weird in Chrome. on the front page, it obscures the top headline and covers the top of the top-left ad (a 620WDAE ad as I look at it right now)

  2. Dew Says:

I thought Dotson pass protected better in the preseason than Trueblood. And Dotson did go against the ones in the Dolphin game.

And all we hear is how good the Lions DLine is this year. Well they haven’t seen the Bucs DLine yet. We’ll be better.

Hey Joe…Old School actually used the name Megatron. I can’t believe you allowed this through the censors, man!!!

  4. TeaPartyIn2012 Says:

The advertise here banner is covering the posts title.

    Agree with my man”Old School”

Joe, I love this site, but help a brother out. My comments post about 50% of the time lately, half way thru each comment , I get reverted to an ad site, and some of the ads lately are covering the headlines.

Not the end of the world, and all the other ads don’t bother me a bit. I’m glad they are sponsoring you! But those couple of things are getting annoying. If you can get those improved, live would be even better here at JoeBucFan

    Guys:

If the banner ad is giving you problems, right click and select “Refresh.”

That should take care of it permanently.

There is zero doubt that stopping Calvin Johnson is the key. Take him away and what do they have on offense? Jahvid Best ? Nate Burleson? Brandon Pettigrew? The rest of their skill players are of questionable talent at best. I actually think the Bucs will DOMINATE this game they way they should have last year. Why? Because having Drew Stanton may have given the Lions a better chance last year. Stanton and Shaun Hill had a run of wins to end the year behind a bad Lions offensive line. The key was that both of those Qb’s are VERY mobile. Stafford can’t even manage to stay on the field for a season behind this line let alone lead his team to a good record. I think the retooled Bucs pass rush + immobile Stafford= revenge.

@Beckles Pettigrew had comparable numbers to Winslow. Burleson had better numbers than all our receivers outside of Williams. He is one of the most solid #2s in the league.

Lions allowed less sacks than the Bucs OL and far less pressure. Shaun Hill and and Drew Stanton are not Josh Freeman at sack evasion. They didn’t get sacked because the Lions OL fared well in pass protection last year. Only OLs worse than the Bucs were Steelers and Bears.

Still, I do see our DL playing far better than last year. My skepticism lies in the LBs and OL. Two spot that looked rather bad in preseason, however meaningless, it still doesn’t sit well.

Only 13 hours and we will both find out!!!!
