Dark Clouds Over Two Bright Spots

September 11th, 2011

Two standouts for the Bucs today, Sammie Stroughter and Brian Price, had rough endings to their days.

Stroughter had a boot on his left foot and used crutches leaving the locker room. Joe doesn’t know his status. Stroughter’s 78-yard kick return, courtesy of a Maurice Stovall missed tackle, led to the Bucs’ first score. You can watch it here.

And Joe can’t say enough about Brian Price. His first snap of the day in the first quarter, Price blew through the Detroit line and had a tackle for a three-yard loss. It was the kind of dominating burst Price wowed with as a rookie at training camp last year.

Price played limited snaps today but was effective and capped his heroic comeback from his gruesome offseason surgery.

Unfortunately, Price left the game with a hamstring injury. It was his hamstrings that were ripped off the bone and screwed into his pelvis this offseason.

Joe wishes these fine young men well. Raheem Morris should have an injury update tomorrow at his press conference.

    Man am I bummed we lost it sucks but I dont think freeman and winslow/benn/blount got enough reps during preseason. I would like to see coach put us on 2 a days this week. D was unfair to judge because on feel way to long in extreme heat and the lions could have made it much worse.

  2. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @nick,

    Under the new CBA, you are severely limited to the amount of two a days, as well as the number of times you can practice in pads. I’m not sure the exact number, but it is very small. So that won’t be happening.

    Man, I just hope Price didn’t re- injure those hamstrings. That would really sit him back. Hopefully it was a cramp!
    Goid luck to Sammy, Also. Hope it’s just a slight strain !
    We had so many play badly yesterday, we don’t want to lose any of the guys who performed well !!!

    Good luck to both

    @Capt.Tim,

    Even worse, I think it would mean the end to his career. I can’t even think of a single player that came back from a Hamstring literally tearing off the bone, let alone two.

    I’m really hoping the guy is okay, not even for our team’s sake.

    I certainly hope in that heat yesterday and the amount of time the defense was on the field that Price was in on limited snaps. Otherwise it seems reckless for the coaching staff to have him play so much.

    HAHAHAHAHAH!! Joe tries so hard , doesn’t he ??

  7. Army Buc Says:

    Can someone please tell me why Blount was replaced with Graham?

  8. IMHO... Says:

    Stroughter needs 2 play both kick and punt returner. Thats it.
