Don’t Go Nuts Over Second-Team Sacks

August 12th, 2011

How excited should one get during a preseason game? What does it all mean when starters leave early and teams don’t roll out a true gameplan?

Not a lot, but Joe still likes to get a full sense of what’s happening. So Joe’s going to refer you to what Chiefs fans are considering in the game against the Bucs tonight, courtesy of the Kansas City Star.

Here’s one excerpt that lets Joe know not to do cartwheels if the Bucs start racking up sacks just before halftime:

LINE DEPTH: The Chiefs are thin on offensive-line reserves. It’s time for guard Darryl Harris, a developmental prospect the last two years, to step it up. Tackle Jared Gaither, obtained Thursday, might fit into the picture eventually but won’t play tonight.

Joe recommends you read the entire piece. It seems the Chiefs are going to be focusing on their running game with the first-team offense.

Please, Bucs. Please find a way not to get gashed up the gut.

Lol whatever……I’m getting excited over ANY sacks. I don’t care if it’s the cheerleader pom pom organizer taking out the guy who unscrews the cap off Raheem’s water bottle…..I’m HYPED!

Joe, FYI the link to the story seems to be broken.

And I am FIRED UP! to see my boys play. Hell, I watched the Seahawks play the Charges last night into the 4th quarter. It was terrible and I loved it!

I’m gonna go ape for every single decent play. I’ve been waiting far too long.

Joe – Would be nice to see a counter that counts down to game time!

    Two things:

    1) While Joe understands a lot of people are geeked about preseason, Joe doesn’t exactly share in the enthusiasm. These games are simply glorified scrimmages. It’s very likely guys that play well tonight won’t even be on the 45-man roster come September.

    2) You can’t tell time by looking at the computer clock? 🙂 Just joking man!

I can’t help it. Every year I tell myself its just practice and then I go through the same emotions I go through with a regular season game. I tell myself not to burn vacation hours to go to a preseason game and then I realize I’d just be depressed so I end up going anyways.

I know this sounds weird, but I’ll post it anyway.

I had a dream last night that I was watching the Bucs-Chiefs game and Adrian Clayborn was dominating the Chiefs offensive line. He also kept getting hits on the running back and after 3 or 4 hits the guy was starting to stay down longer each time.

I woke up thinking, “Wow, Clayborn’s a beast”. Funny dream. Hopefully it becomes reality and Clayborn gives a beat-down to the Chiefs tonight.
