Morris Says Talib Is Right On Track

October 4th, 2010

Men glued to the NFL Network during the offseason saw endless highlights of Terrell Owens beating Aqib Talib in Buffalo for a touchdown in 2009.

Raheem Morris even referenced once how that clip played over and over and Talib couldn’t escape it.

Obviously, Talib is on the cusp of greatness, but he has missed on his share of big-play opportunities during his tenure, and he’s been beaten at key times. Morris was asked about this at his news conference today and defended Talib’s production.

“He’s really taken more than he’s given up. You know, it’s just that when you’re a corner, it’s always easy to remember the bad ones rather than the good ones,” Morris said. “You know, I believe the young man, at his position, for the same amount of time, has more interceptions than anyone he came in with. And we could certainly sit here and name every touchdown he’s given up.”

Talib is doing what young almost-great players are supposed to do: make plays and make mistakes. Joe hopes he’ll tighten his game to hit his Pro Bowl potential, but if Talib doesn’t improve at all, he’s surely already good enough to play for a lasting contender.

The Bucs’ defensive mastermind/head coach said he’s still determining how the Bucs will defend Bengals receivers Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens, who was thrown to 15 times Sunday and caught 10 balls for 222 yards.

“They got two guys. [Talib] can only cover one,” Morris said. “It might be a week for E.J. Biggers to have to step up this week.”

Joe’s more interested in the Bucs reviving their pass rush that disappeared against Pittsburgh. Despite Carson Palmer’s big statistical day Sunday, he was sacked four times and looks like a guy ripe to get busted up and sidelined by a few good hits.

EJ Biggers for the start at CB?? is like ronde was move to FS or what??

  2. Capt.Tim Says:

“looks like a guy ripe to get busted up and sidelined with a few good hits”! Wow Joe, you and Carson got a Lil history, meybe? Lol! Well, ok, I’m in. If Carson has to be a sacrificial Melon for the Bucs to get to 3-1, so be it! He’s probably hoping to get away from those two asses anyway! I really hope we win this one. I think we have a good chance! Cincy never quite seems as good as it’s parts. 3-1 would be beyond my expectations at this point!

  3. JK Says:

Sorry Joe. I just don’t get the “Mastermind” tag you have pinned on our young coach. Can you enlighten me?

  4. Travis Says:

JK, Raheem is a “defensive masterming” as in an excellent defensive coordinator. As in if he was fired tomorrow he would be a defensive coordinator before the start of next year.

lets put together a few names and maybe you can figure out what the all have in commin, shall we?

Dick LeBaeu, Sean Mcdermott, Mike Zimmer, Raheem Morris, Gregg Williams.

    see a correlation?

  5. Tampa2 Says:

@ Travis, Could you tell us what team might hire Raheem the Dream for a Defensive Coordinator before the start of next year? I’d love to hear that one!

  6. JimBuc Says:

Tampa2 — the team owned by Madoff.

What kind of jackass lurks around a Bucs website for no other reason that to bash the Bucs and Morris and the Glazers? Someone needs a hug . . .

  7. Tampa2 Says:

Then why don’t you go hug Morris, Jimbuc. Maybe he’ll chest bump you in all the right places!

  8. BigMacAttack Says:

The Bucs are pretty healthy compared to a number of teams. I would say that they are in the top 16 teams, but that could easily go one or the other in the next couple of weeks. The only teams I have watched that truly look like contenders are the Pats, Jets, Steelers, Texans, Colts & Dolphins. The only NFc team that really looks impressive is….Nobody. They all look banged up and beatable on any Sunday. The Bucs have a real good shot if they can play over their heads a little bit and cut out the turnovers and mistakes. The problem is that our team is so unproven that right now you don’t know how they are going to perform week to week, but I like their talent and their chances. A whole lot of teams suck right now. The Bears at 3-1 got destroyed by the Giants Defense and are on #3 QB. it was a sackfest, and the Giants’ Defensive line is awesome but their offense sucks too. The NFL right now is full of disappointment and it’s anybody’s game to win or lose. I think this season will ultimately be a war of attrition where the last(healthy) man(team) standing wins. The Bucs have a lot of youth which may prove helpful in the long run, but they have to produce the wins. This next game should tell a lot.

Tampa 2, you need to get laid or get a new job or something. Misery loves company.

  9. Pete Dutcher Says:

    @JimBuc
Just ignore him…he’s only picking on you because you rise to the challenge 😉

    @BigMacAttack

Tampa 2, you need to get laid or get a new job or something. Misery loves company.

Hah! Like that wound ever happen!!!!!

  10. JimBuc Says:

Tampa2 — rather than call me out why don’t you entertain all of us with your Madoff theory.

  11. eric Says:

With a whole extra week of core values training, how can we lose?

  12. admin Says:

    Joe here,

Eric – That’s “core beliefs.” You could never play for this team. 😉

  13. Bucnjim Says:

Eric is better playing with himself; sorry it was wide open.

  14. Apple Roof Cleaning Says:

We should hire Steve White as defensive coordinator https://www.joebucsfan.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

  15. Tampa2 Says:

Wow, never seen so many kool-aid drinkers on one blog before. JimBuc, aren’t you their financial adviser? Last I heard they were behind in their payments on 4 of their Malls. I guess that you didn’t notice that they are very last in the league in spending again this year! But, Hey, that is the “youth movement” (wink wink), because money is no object, right? The latest rumor has you and Tugboat Timmie coming out of the Tampa Bath Club together! Maybe you 2 were in there discussing Madhoff conspiracy theory. Or, Maybe chest bumping of another kind! 🙂 Maybe you, Big Mac, Pete, and timmie could draw straws to see who the pivot man would be in a ………………..!

  16. JimBuc Says:

Tampa2 — besides being a bigot (Madoff) you are also stupid. Did you know that the Glazer recently bought a portion of the ManU debt, at a discount no less?

    http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-09-16/manchester-united-s-owners-said-to-have-bought-back-20-of-own-loan.html

LOL. It’s OK Tampa2 , the world needs stupid people too. If you cannot read the article maybe you could at least look at the pictures. 🙂

  17. Capt.Tim Says:

Tampon2 doesn’t know anything. He spent the entire summer spewing his idiotic opinions. All of which have been proven to be bulls^*t! The rest of his Lil hater buddies were smart enough to go into hiding, or jump on the bandwagon. Tampon and Thomas are the only two stupid enough to still show up, after looking that ignorant. Tampon2 is still showing up because he doesn’t realize he’s the town fool. We could win the NFC south this year, and he would still be posting that we suck. He is so wrapped up in his sad Lil thoughts, thatreality isn’t gonna ruin his delusion! It’s obvious to everyone but the town fool, that the team is on the right track. I think Raheem Morris would be hired as a DC in a new York minute. A few more wins, and he is a hot commodity as a coach! Either way, we are lucky to finally have good coach, who can handle the massive rebuilding operation required after 6 years of that Damn locust – gruden!

  18. Joe Says:

Then why don’t you go hug Morris, Jimbuc. Maybe he’ll chest bump you in all the right places!

    That’s a unique thought.

  19. Joe Says:

    JimBuc/Tampa 2:

Not sure how or why Madoff was invoked in this thread, but to be perfectly clear, there is zero evidence — that means zee-ROE evidence — that the Glazer family had any financial dealings with Madoff.

Madoff’s records and holdings have been poured over by teams of FBI and IRS forensic accountants, as well as some of the top watchdogs from some of the free world’s top investigative news organizations on both sides of the pond.

Connecting the Glazer family to Madoff is like the truthers who claim 9/11 was some stunt drummed up by Lyndon LaRouche.

  20. tommy Says:

we are still 2 and 1 lets just let it play out, young team, got a coach the players love, stop the hate….and here’s a suggestion go to a game…come on man

  21. Capt.Tim Says:

Don’t let tampon2 get to you, fellas. He is another idiot with an Agenda! He was in love with Lil Chucky, and has been heartbroken since they Fired his sorry Ass. He has wrote nothing but hate post ever since. He needs to go find a gay love website ta cry on, instead of a football post!

  22. McBuc Says:

CaptTim…I doubt he was actually a fan of Chucky either. I once answered a question for him, he asked why people said Morris knew the Tampa 2 defense, I had to point out that Morris worked for the Bucs in the defense that he named hiself after. I have gioven up dealing with him, and simply ignore him. You guys should do the same.

  23. JimBuc Says:

Joe, the Madoff issue came in to play because that is Tampa2’s schtick. He believes the Madoff B.S. I will leave to others to judge why someone would believe such a thing given the mountain of counter evidence. Sorry to clog up your pages with the nonesense, but not easy for me to sit quiet about stuff like that.

  24. Capt.Tim Says:

McBuc- what, I live for that stuff!! Part of my job description, but figuring out what motivates people- especially the ugly, uneducated, hateful ones, is always worth it when you can call them on it!! Lots of the Slow Squad have been amazed( or furious!), when their sad Lil agendas get brought to light! Figuring out these guys( RahDomTheRacist, mushmouth, Thomas the lover, tampa2) is pretty easy! The part that is really amazing is that none of them really seem to watch football at all! They’re motives and actions are based on personal crusades(racism) or Revenge( fired someone they loved ). It’s really funny

  25. McBuc Says:

OK Capt, keep messing with them…I try to ignore tham, but sometimes it just does not work.

  26. BigMacAttack Says:

Capn, you really ought to lay off Chucky. He had his faults but he’s gone now, and it will take some time before Rah is ever in the same converstion as Chucky. Call out the Haters most definitely, but check your own hate at the door. If you prefer to compare their two resumes, we can do that too. I like the jokes and wise cracks about him, that’s funny, but your over there hatin on my guy.

  27. Mark Says:

Lol – this thread went way off the track. It’s about Talib – right?

I’m curious if Biggers is a starting CB this week. Apparently Shipley is a gametime/day to day decision (Nickel package)

When do they move Ronde to Nickel?

  28. Capt.Tim Says:

BigMacAttack- as I’ve stated before, I wish we had Chucky two years sooner! Would have won another Superbowl or two! Buuut, I wish we would have gotten rid of him a year or two sooner, he doesn’t know how to draft or coach young players!! I bang the Gruden bell to lure the haters to the Surface. It’s sorta like chumming. They’ve gotten smart enough not to respond without major coaxing. And Chucky is the ticket! A few of those guys liked Chucky for Reasons that . .Ahem . . Most football fans don’t! So, while I don’t hate Chucky, it’s the perfect bait for my favorite sport- hater spearfishing!! Lol

  29. JK Says:

Joe, thanks for the explanation. NOTHING as always!!!! Just ignore people you can’t respond to. Better yet. Grade them on their grammar. That always hurts. OUCH!!!

  30. admin Says:

    Joe here,

JK – Quite an A-hole attitude you have there. There’s no explanation for the “mastermind” tag. It’s self-explanatory. What don’t you get. He’s the defensive coordinator who is running his own defense evolved from the Tampa 2 and various other defenses, much like Chucky was the Bucs offensive genius/mastermind/architect. Pick any word you want.
