Mike Williams Already Earning Keep

September 12th, 2010

So far there is no question who Josh Freeman’s favorite target is: rookie Mike Williams.

Freeman has targeted Williams many times in the first half of the first game of the season and had Freeman been a bit more accurate and not rushed some of his throws (because he was about to be beheaded) who knows what the halftime score would be?

But the Bucs got on the board thanks to a circus catch by Williams late in the second quarter. Near the back of the end zone a pass to Williams was tipped. Williams circled inside, kept a bead on the ball, leapt up and caught the ball in the back of the end zone, somehow getting his feet inbounds.

In Joe’s eyes, it was the best catch by a Bucs receiver since Joe Jurevicius volleyballed a pass in the corner of the end zone in the Bucs season opener as defending Super Bowl champs.

Mike Williams, you are already a star.

Our O-line suuuuuucks!!! The running backs can’t go anywhere and Freeman has little protection. Delhomo is having a picnic in the pocket. I hope we start to give the pass rush we started to at the end of the half.

No Doubt Mike is for real!!! First time I have seen Barber show his age but he is still a HOF.We still look really slow on defense cant even get pressure with a Blitz.McCoy has looked like he should and I have been surprised by Moore in coverage.Jones just looked like sabby missed a tackle for 45 yds.GO BUCS!!!

Cadillac is talented. i hate how he’s being judged when he doesn’t even have the best line in front of him.

Earnest Graham is still an option. Oh no wait….he’s a fullback!

  4. Patrick Says:

Oh and why haven’t they used Huggins?? Talk about being clueless

  5. jester Says:

So much for Kendrick Vincent being a beast we just cant run the ball on either side!

  6. Matt Says:

It was a good catch, but let’s not get carried away. Bryant’s catch vs. Carolina puts it to shame.

  7. Amar Says:

    DEMOTE HUGGINS! PREMOTE BLOUNT!

Huggins nearly costed us the game with his idiotic fumble inside the 5.

  8. CharlieB Says:

Earnest Graham fumbled… not Huggins. Huggins didn’t have a carry.

  9. BamBamBuc Says:

It was Graham that fumbled. It was a good catch by Williams for the score, but even better was the concentration to see the ball tipped in the air and adjust. May not have been the best catch in the world, but great concentration for a young rookie WR. The Bucs did run the ball, and pretty well for the most part. Too bad Caddy’s two big runs were called back due to penalty (one on K2, one on Davin). We’ll see more of Huggins in weeks to follow, but Caddy and Graham were a good 1-2 punch for this week.

FRIGGIN A.. We’ll get better as time goes on.

  11. BigMacAttack Says:

It was the 1’st game. It was a win. They will make adjustments and next week play better. The defense gave up a few, but won more than they lost. Way to go Bucs!!!

Mike Williams was great today….he might be the next Michael Clayton! Oh, wait…..nevermind. Bad comparison…..
