Freeman Talks All Things Thumb

September 12th, 2010

Yes, the busted tip of Josh Freeman’s thumb was an issue Sunday.

Speaking on the Buccaneers Radio Network after the game,Freeman, not one to cast blame, even said the thumb was “something I had to work on” and was a factor in his interception. “[On the interception,] the ball didn’t come out right. It happened a couple of times,” Freeman said.

Freeman went on to say his thumb did NOT get hit during the game. Joe was most concerned about that, specifically.

No word on whether Freeman’s thumb led him and Greg Olson to channel Chucky and make two yard passes on 3rd-and-long.

Freeman must be able to deal with the Thumb, as he lead us to a fouth quarter comeback, with the TD pass to Spurlock. I think Rust was a bigger issue.

That is all Olson and amazingly predictable. The only real question was whether he would get tricky on 3rd or 4th down.

I hate him (Olson) (More to the point, I hate him as a coordinator)

The offense is pretty vanilla. Don’t know if that’s because they were playing it down due to Freeman’s thumb injury and lack of practice time, or just Olson. Regardless, I really think that Freeman (when healthy) and Williams/Stroughter/K2 will open it up on game days regardless of how vanilla the Olson offense is. Williams seems to read DBs pretty well, and I can see him turning it up field on his own and Freeman knowing he’ll do so and putting it up deep. These young guys will go downfield on their own somehow.

    @ Joe

Just watched Freemman’s presser on Buccaneers.com and he “corrected” himself and didn’t blame the thumb. As for the rest of the presser, I continue to be impressed by his demeanor. You can tell he’s SUPER young but he seems very relaxed, very humble and quietly confident. You can also tell that the rapport that he and Mike Williams have is uncanny and he has the utmost confidence in him.

In other news, I was surprised to see K2 make the BSPN front page prior to the game because of his antics. Gotta love that guy!
