Mike Williams Could Be “Steal” For Bucs

August 25th, 2010

Despite what Adam Schein may say, it seems the rave reviews about Bucs rookie wide receiver Mike Williams continue to grow.

Thought by many to have first-round talent but fifth-round intangibles, Bucs general manager Mark Dominik and his troops turned up every rock and searched around each corner looking for trouble in Williams’ past. They could not find any.

The word of Williams’ skills continues to grow far outside the Tampa Bay area. Take Adam Caplan for example. Schein’s colleague at both Sirius NFL Radio and FoxSports.com, Caplan Twittered last night that Dominik very well may have engaged in highway robbery to land Williams.

@1superfly1: cap, who is the odd receiver out in TB?

@caplannfl: If Mike Williams stays on the right path, they will have a major steal.

So we’re just now halfway through training camp and already national pundits are beginning to wax poetic about Williams. Joe’s actually getting excited just reading these missives.

Another reason Schein is an idiot. All he sees is a 4th round pick becoming the starter. His colleagues actually do some research. I guess no one told Schein that Marques Colston was a 7th rounder

Joe assumes the reason Adam Schein is no fan of Mike Williams is that Schein is a graduate of, and a huge fan of Syracuse, where Williams played college ball. We both know how that ended and as a result, Joe’s just guessing that Schein is bitter and holds a grudge against Williams.

I wonder if Mike Williams was properly a round 1 or 2 pick? If that’s the case – what a steal!

So Schein is letting his personal feelings dictate his accessment of players.Did he not see how bad our receiving corp was last year? This a$$wipe sounds like he has a personal vendetta with Tampa.Mike Williams is obviously our best receiver so why wouldn’t he be a starter.

Not sure if “dictate” is the proper word. In the case of Williams, “cloud” may be more accurate.
