The Great Cody Grimm Riddle Has Been Solved

July 29th, 2010

Joe has learned that the Cody Grimm mystery that has gripped Bucs fans has come to an end.

The Bucs seventh round pick has signed less than 24 hours before having to report to camp. This nugget of breaking news comes by way of Woody Cummings of the Tampa Tribune via the TBO Bucs Twitter feed.

The Bucs have agreed to terms on a deal with LB/SS Cody Grimm, the first of their three seventh-round draft picks.

Now that leaves Gerald McCoy, the third overall pick in the 2010 draft, as the lone unsigned Bucs draftee.

At the risk of Joe potentially ascribing a motive, Joe was beginning to wonder if Grimm either wanted to be a rare seventh-round draft pick hold out, or if he just wanted to watch his dad, Russ Grimm, be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame next Saturday.

I wonder what the deal is with it taking this long…….

Oh man that would suck if he couldn’t go to the Hall of Fame Enshrinement for his dad

  2. Gary Says:

The HOF induction could be the only possible explanation. We know he wasn’t playing hardball looking for more money being a 7th rd. pick. Good insight Joe.

Even if that was the reason, you think he couldn’t be excused from camp for 1 day for the notorious “personal reasons”?

  3. The D Says:

I wonder how many safties were going to keep on the 53 man roster. 4 or 5?

  4. Patrick Says:

They have to give Grimm a break for that. I remember 2 years ago, they let Jeff Garcia off for a couple days in training camp because his dad was a football coach that was having some special event.

The Grimm Reaper is now a BUC. About time.

I bet McCoy is signed before end of day Friday 😉

(according to my source…which, yeah, is pretty much in my imagination)

    Fear the Reaper !!

  9. Bad Boy Bucs Says:

Keep the RAys info off this site…. Bucs fan, not Rays fan.

Hey..it would be cool to watch live in Canton….but how great will his dad feel……knowing his son is going through NFL training camp….

    Bad Boy Bucs:

Yes, this is a Bucs site. It’s also a Joe site. And Joe covers the Rays as well. There are quite a few Rays fans that hang out here. Recently Joe had a poll and over half of the respondents are Rays fans. So while Joe loves and appreciates your passion for the Bucs, Joe also wants to tip off the Rays fans that hang here that there’s a place to fill their needs for Rays information as well.

Thanks for being a loyal reader man!

Yo Joe, no updates on McCoy negotiations? What’s the deal? We’re basically 24 hrs away………they seriously going to wait for Bradford? They even talking? Whatcha got???

  13. SebringSmitty Says:

@ Joe, personally I love the Rays updates ! Keep up the great work 🙂

  14. Joe Says:

    Thanks Smitty!

Joe tries to stay away from rookie contract negotiations. Joe’s confident Mark Dominik and McCoy’s camp are talking. Probably waiting on Bradford. It’s usually a domino effect.

    Huh???

  20. Bad Boy Bucs Says:

Too bad about the Rays info…. a beating…. I don’t live in Tampa and need good sources for Bucs info. Too bad your cross marketing is getting in the way.

Bucs 9-7 and drafting their DEF in fantasy! Go Bucs.

If you don’t like the Rays updates then simply scroll past them and quit your bitching. There are more fans who do enjoy them than don’t.
