Freeman Wants To Know High School Kids

June 12th, 2010

At every turn young Josh Freeman seems like an extraordinary high character guy. This impresses Joe to no end, especially since at Freeman’s age Joe was doing little more than chasing women to the wee hours as a full-time job and sleeping it off while on his day job the next morning.

Freeman says all the right things. He lives with his little brother in Tampa. And the guy is obviously extraordinarily self-motivated.

Of course, Joe recognizes Freeman could be mingling with a throng of nasty, tequila-pounding strippers every night, but that sure seems unlikely.

Settled into the community now, Freeman is launching his inaugural Tampa football camp in July. On Friday, he expained to The Fabulous Sports Babe on 1040 AM that he wants to get involved at all levels of football in the Bay area.

“I’m really excited to get in touch with another side of Tampa’s football,” Freeman said. “You know I got to meet a few USF guys, but I’m somewhat oblivious to the high school football game around here because I’ve only been here for a year. But I’d like to get to know a lot of these guys.”

What other NFL quarterbacks want to get to know high school players and help impact their games and lives?

Joe’s very impressed by Freeman. If he can stop throwing interceptions and stay healthy, he could become an unmatched local icon.

I believe Freeman is a high character guy who is only focused on becoming a better football player and helping out his newly adopted community. My wife and I were at a movie one night, and who walks in but josh Freeman, with his mom. That was actually very nice to see.
