Waiting On Word About Missing Bucs

May 17th, 2010

Vacation Man, aka Pat Yasinskias of BSPN.com is among the soggy media types at One Buc Place today for the one short OTA practice open to the media this week.

Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s practices are closed, as of now.

Vacation Man reports on some Bucs who didn’t practice.

We’ll be getting some interviews with the players after practice, but we know we won’t be hearing from Donald Penn, Derrick Ward, Kellen Winslow and Davin Joseph. They’re among the list of guys not on the practice field.

Although the workouts are voluntary, Joe’s always curious why guys can’t or won’t go.

Joe hopes Winslow isn’t busy again packing dishes and linens at his California home, like he was when the Bucs opened OTAs last year.

For all the noise Penn is making and the fact that he “allegedly” is in great shape this year…. why are some players so stupid? Do they really think this is the best way to take a stance to get a paycheck?

  2. TpaBayFlyFisher Says:

Dave, they are doing just what their agents tell them to do………

  3. Gary Says:

Yea, but still a stupid move nonetheless. In any other year, Penn holding out might make some sense, but not this year when every team is penny pinching with the CBA issues coming up.

I am curious why Joseph wasn’t there. Hopefully, shows up tomorrow.

  4. RahDomDaBest Says:

I’m glad to see the 3-13 players not wanting to risk injury in this ‘voluntary’ work out. Not only that, I can’t blame them either… if i were them I’d seriously think about skipping mandatory work outs too… who wants to listen to Raheem Lame Duck?

  5. Eric Says:

You would think a guy like Ward, looking for more carries, would show up.

  6. Louie Says:

Mad Twitter is saying Joseph had knee surgery, but is close to being able to practice.

  7. Joe Says:

To be fair Eric, we don’t know why Ward wasn’t around this morning.

  8. dakid5 Says:

Joe why do you call this guy the vacation man? lol

  9. TJ Says:

Ward are you serious ? Dont know what is up with Winslow but I know Mami players like to hang out in Mami with the other U players everbody else is out cause of Injuries and personal reasons

  10. JimBuc Says:

Eric is right. Ward’s absence is the potentially big story. Hard to imagine a good excuse for a guy that should be wanting to prove a bunch of people wrong.

  11. BigMacAttack Says:

Davin was there today. I saw him on the news talking about McCoy.

  12. JimBuc Says:

    Davin is just injured

  13. nick Says:

trade away sorry a$$ ward and penn get rid of them for picks next year the minute you pay penn he is gonna turn into a lazy fat a$$ like haynesworth trust that and ward just sucks

  14. Vince Says:

I don’t know why but I’m disappointed in Winslow….I shouldn’t be surprised given his track record of being a mental midget…But this guy is a veteran, and has been put into a leadership role on a very young team. Set an example man, get you arse to the work outs and teach these young kids will ya.

  15. Bucs1Fan Says:

Once again people, these are VOLUNTARY workouts, which they dont get paid to be at. So, why risk an injury in pointless practices? Davin, Winslow, & Ward were all there working out with the team at the workouts last month and I’m sure they will all be at the MANDATORY Mini Camp next month. Stop getting your panties in a bunch fellas.

  16. Hawaiian Buc Says:

I hope that the people who are criticizing Winslow can man up enough to apologize, since it was just reported that he had yet another surgery on his knee. Due to him being a “mental midget”, he probably won’t be able to walk after his football career. Anybody here who “loves this team” willing to give up walking to help the Bucs win? Didn’t think so. Lay off of the players unless you really know what’s going on.
