Respectability In 2011

Alex Marvez of FoxSports.com believes Josh Freeman and the Bucs will be "respectable" in 2011, but not this year.

Alex Marvez of FoxSports.com believes Josh Freeman and the Bucs will be "respectable" in 2011, but not this year.

Another day, another national columnist advising Bucs fans to wait another year.

That’s the word — not from Joe — from Alex Marvez of FoxSports.com. In a column where he looks at all the last place teams from 2009 and what team has the best chance to rebound, Marvez is not too charitable to the Bucs and suggests 2010 will be a season to forget for Bucs fans.

The Bucs began their youth movement in 2009 but need at least another season to become respectable again.

Unlike yesterday, when Joe brought you Pat Kirwan’s prediction than an 8-8 season would be a success, Marvez did not go on the record with a win total as a goal he sees for the Bucs.

Oops! Marvez just got removed from the lover’s Christmas card list. I wonder which one will be the first to call him an asshole?

  2. Eric Says:

“Because of penny-pinching ownership, the Bucs still have plenty of personnel deficiencies.”

    Well said.

  3. Hosstyle in Tampa Says:

Conjecture is conjecture, whether it comes from the horse’s mouth or the horse’s ass…

  4. big007hed Says:

Marvez sucks ass… even if he wrote the Bucs are going to win the SuperBowl he is still a douche bag… Marvez is about as reliable as wet toilet paper

  5. mlloye Says:

Marvez Who?? They said the same about Atlanta after Vick left. Im not saying we are going to win the NFC South, but, it is possible. We were close in both Atlanta and Carolina games and we beat the Saints once. We are surely better than last year mainly cause of stability in our game plan (offense & Defense) and Freeman having more experience and work in the off season (under one offensive scheme) as the starter. Then add the weapons we picked up, we can compete. We gained alot and lost nothing. Oh wait, we lost Antonio Bryant who didnt do squat last year and Hovan (Who I respect and am a big fan of) who is out of gas.

This one is for Loui: Marvez, you are an a$$ !!!!

  6. Eric Says:

The guy who didn’t do squat still led all bucs wideouts in receiving yards and touchdowns.

We all know these so called “experts” are flawed. Just like the ones who reported the bucs had a great draft…………………….

  7. Radio Mushmouth Says:

Apparently Marvez didn’t get the memo that we are ” 3 years ahead of schedule”

  8. mlloye Says:

To Eric: AB doing better than the rest of our WR isnt saying much.

  9. thomas Says:

Boy, Marvez’s comments sound familiar. Do you guys think he pulled a “Chris Landry” (allegedly) on me?

I guess I am not the only one who believes that this is the truth:

“Because of penny-pinching ownership, the Bucs still have plenty of personnel deficiencies.”

That my friends is not hate, that is what non-sheep see re: the state of this debacle!!

  10. thomas Says:

Apparently some in the national and not in the pockets of the Glazers i.e. Duemig believe that the “plan” actually = penny-pinching.

That is all radio, eric, i and others have been saying, and you guys get all worked up and call us negative, haters, gruden-hacks. Maybe you guys should look inward and reevaluate? Maybe the plan is actually to get cheap, not good.

The Glazers are getting cheap and hoping that while doing that that they trip into success.

If you are wondering about Marvez’s cred. last year his prediction for the nfl’s most improved team: JETS.

BTW – they turned it around immediately, with a legit h.c. a bunch of FA’s and a solid draft!!

  12. BamBamBuc Says:

    @ thomas

By legit HC, you mean a guy that has never been a head coach before, but was pretty good with a defense? Seriously, Rex Ryan had never held a head coaching job before. The only thing to make him “legit” was that he had beena DC for 3 years prior to that job.

By a “bunch” of FA’s, you mean 2? Yeah, ok, they signed 3, but 1 didn’t even play. The 2 they got were Bart Scott and Jim Leonhard. They both had good years, but I daresay 2 isn’t exactly “a bunch”.

  13. thomas Says:

also kris jenkins (i believe that there are 1 or 2 more), alos trade for braylon edwards. Key is D coordinator of a great d.

  14. Louie Says:

I HATE the Jets and truely dislike Rex Ryan (because of his big mouth), but he got that team to play ball. I hope he’s just a one year wonder, but I’m afraid they will continue to improve.

Unlike the Bucs, the Jets ownership wants to win and they are willing to spend some money to make it happen. Detroit is another team that has made some impressive moves this off-season. It’s going to be hard for them to break out of that losing mentality, but I think they’ll be improved this year also. I just don’t have that kind of optimism for the Bucs. Sure, they had a good draft, but besides that, what have they done?

  15. Patrick Says:

Milloye: “Oh wait, we lost Antonio Bryant who didnt do squat last year ”

Milloye, you along with many other Bucs fans need to stop saying negative crap about AB. It’s not like this team is better without him. He did great during his tenure here in Tampa, and we should’ve kept him on our team. You can’t say he “didn’t do squat” last year when he was out due to injury! The guy missed several games, so of course he wasn’t effective. He still had 4 TD’s and 600 yards receiving. That’s pretty good considering the circumstances.

Kellen Winslow also became the go to target last year. Throw in the fact that we had three starting quarterbacks last year. Throw in the fact that Rah Rah fired his O-cordinator before the season.

Overall, we also had a shitty team. And AB still was one of the few bright spots on our offense. If you recall, he made a lot of big plays for us last year and contributed.

  16. tampa2 Says:

I guess that wasn’t AB making those circus act catches on the sidelines lat year! It certainly wasn’t the the 25 million dollar hands of Clay! Morris and Dominik trashed him after he was let go. And I’d like one of you Kool-aid drinkers that talks about AB to show all of us where he complained, or did any of the trash talking that Rah & Dummynik accused him of. AB won’t be making any circus catches for us this year. But he left us the Circus!

  17. thomas Says:

i am also happy that a buc legend doug williams decided to cut ties w/ this fiasco. no sense pulling him into this mess. to think, rah and dom were his bosses, what have those 2 idiots done to earn superior positions to doug?
