Barrett Ruud Wants Manbeast Ndamukong Suh

April 10th, 2010

In recent days Bucs linebacker Barrett Ruud has been grousing that this coming season may be his last in Tampa Bay due to his contract negotiations, or lack thereof.

But there may be one man who can save Ruud from leaving the Bucs.

Nebraska defensive tackle manbeast Ndamukong Suh.

That’s what Joe learned from eye-RAH! Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune as he talked all things Bucs last week with The Fabulous Sports Babe on WHBO-AM 1040.

Kaufman discussed the Bucs draft, specifically defensive tackles Gerald McCoy and Suh who are atop the Bucs draft board when he said Ruud was lobbying for Suh.

“I’m not convinced the Bucs have McCoy rated over Suh,” Kaufman said. “Suh is more consistent. Barrett Ruud wants Suh. Suh is not a one-game wonder.”

It isn’t just because Suh played for Ruud’s alma mater, Suh is a beast up front and surely would keep traffic off of Ruud and his fellow linebackers.

Kaufman went on to talk more about the Bucs draft with some interesting comments. Kaufman said that the Bucs “putting all their eggs in one basket,” meaning placing so much emphasis on the draft and not free agency, “is dangerous.” Kaufman also noted that there is a lot of pressure on the Bucs scouting department and that no team has ever hit on 11 for 11 draft picks.

“It doesn’t happen.”

No way Suh will be on the board when bucs pick.

Mccoy is a pretty good alterative.Still hoping for

a trade back and Marshall.Yeah,Right.I still believe

    in Santa too.

  2. Radio Mushmouth Says:

    I wouldn’t say “no way” , Bob.

Detroit has done stupider things in the past.

I could see. The lions drafting okung but I doubt it but I’m prayin for a miricle and hopin they go 6 for 6 or 11 for 11 in the draft but hopeful we can gettn 6 starters!

  4. CharlieB Says:

I’d be happy if 4 of our top 5 picks were starters within the next two seasons.

  5. Louie Says:

Youre not going to get that many “immediate” starters out of the draft. Look at last years draft – 1 starter and that wasnt until mid-season. 1st (maybe 2nd) rounder will start immediately, rest will have to develop.

The Dream is going to be under a lot of pressure to play the draftees quickly, since they have put so much emphasis on this draft and the rebuilding project.

I just hope the dream gets to make football decisions, without interference from the Glazer boys.

  7. Eric Says:

Don’t the bucs have plenty of pics to trade up with the Lions if they really want Suh?

They did that last year with freeman.

  8. CharlieB Says:

If you’re responding to Zech, sure. But it wouldn’t surprise me if Moore, Miller, Stroughter, and obviously Freeman all start next year. If that’s the case, they drafted 4/6 on starters. That would hardly be terrible, even for the quality of players we’re putting on the field next season. If they can hit even near that percentage with 11 picks, that’d be amazing.

  9. Lakeland Bob Says:

As many holes as we have,4 starters are not impossible.

Even if they go with Helmit Mel’s top 4 picks.I think he’s

right on the money. Why havn’t the bucs brought in

Golden Tate? This guy has huge potential.

  10. Eric Says:

Lets go for four GOOD starters.

And remember, as to last years draft, the number 2 for Winslow produced an excellent starter.

  11. Radio Mushmouth Says:

Tate’s gonna go late 1st round now that he ran a 4.4 at the combine. We most likely have no shot at him.

  12. RahDomDaBest Says:

Draft McCoy, Golden Tate, then draft Terrance Cody… McCoy and Cody would surely plug up the middle.

What is so interresting is that if the Buc’s are relying relying on the draft for their players, question how many other teams do that? Dont you draft people to be groomed/work into your system under your current players so you have choices if people get hurt. Buc’s got rid of so many of their senior players and the ones still there ( that are under the new CBA have not got new contracts) so Morris things he can get that many rookie players into his system that fast to be starters?
