Bucs To Try Again With Crowell

March 29th, 2010
Yo Rah, that dude hasnt played a game since 07. You think hes better than me?

"Yo Mark, that dude hasn't played a game since '07. You think he's better than me?"

Mark Dominik is a man of faith and confidence.

He sure needs to be, given the state of the Bucs. But Dominik is obviously a man who believes strongly in his ability to evaluate players.

Today, per TBO.com, the Bucs have re-signed linebacker Angelo Crowell. You remember him, he was the Bucs premier free agent signing in 2009. Back then, Crowell was fresh off a missed 2008 season and a rare knee surgery for a football player. He was very good in 2007 for the Bills, however.

Well, Crowell turned out to be unhealthy when he joined the Bucs. He played a bit in training camp, didn’t look sharp, and shredded his arm in preseason shortly after allegedly fighting off Aqib Talib in a taxi. Crowell found his way to injured reserve and a $2.5 million payday from the Bucs.

Welcome back, Angelo.

Yeah, Joe realizes Crowell surely has a prove-yourself-or-get-cut contract. But this is hardly an inspiring move.

would of made more sense to just keep brooks on as a mentor and a backup instead of signing and now re signing this guy who is really good when healthy which is hardly ever

Inspiring, no. If he stays healthy…IF…he might work out nicely.

Im confused, is this guy gonna be a part of the actual dynasty, or just the precursor period?

    championship

The guy I’m sure is getting the veteran’s minimum. He will cost nothing to cut if he can’t cut it. Could be good if he stays healthy, he’ll be cut with no cost if he can’t beat out guys like Adam Hayward.

Joe, this move isn’t meant to inspire but your point is noted. The Bucs haven’t done any inspiring moves this offseason outside the glimmer of hope Sean Jones brings in regards to replacing Shabby Suckatelli. That said, I hope Crowell works out. I have a lot of friends who are fans of the Bills and are still upset he didn’t resign with them. When healthy he was a beast.

A truly inspiring move would be to cut Clayton and lock up Donald Penn long term.

    Shabby Suckatelli

    LOL

Joe, feel free to use that name instead of Sabby the goat. I’ve called him that so much over the past 2 years that I’m starting to think that is his actual name. I first called him that when he blew off my request for an autograph at the 2008 Bucs Kickoff Party at Channelside….douchebag.

You’re a hard man to please Joe.If Crowell was not resigned and went to another team and had a big year, you would be asking why didn’t the bucs try to resign him.Are we really so strong at linebacker that we can’t at least see what this guy can do when he’s healthy.

    Joe here,

Lakeland Bob — I assure you. Joe wouldn’t ask why they let Crowell go. Joe’s not even going to bitch about the disinterest in Phillip Buchanon who signed with the Skins today.

  11. Eric Says:

Actually Crowell has a lot better chance to contribute than Reggie Brown does.

Might as well give the guy a shot at camp. What the hell, the blocking icon is attending, so why not Cromwell – hes a player when healthy.

  12. Lakeland Bob Says:

The skins are signing a bunch of retreads like the bucs normally do.All I’m saying is can we see what the bucs do in the draft before we bury them.Who knows! They might shock us and have a killer draft. If not, then I will be bitchen with everyone else.

  13. BigMacAttack Says:

Joe, that picture caption pretty much nails it.

Crowell is a yes but Brooks was a no???

    Whatever.

  14. Eric Says:

Even more on point, Crowell a yes but AB a no?

Those guys are the same age, yet AB was tooooooooooooo old.

Of course “money is no object”.

Im starting the rumor Sabby drinks Grey Goose with Raheem. Give you guys reason to hate on him. At least he isn’t choking his wife like that puke Phillips, who sucks more than Shabby but is Morris’s drinking buddy eh???
