Rams Will Pick Sam Bradford First Overall

February 26th, 2010

Joe ran across this item Wednesday night and wanted to save it for Friday.

Mike Florio, the creator, curator and overall guru of ProFootballTalk.com beat Joe to the punch.

On the same day that Mike Mayock spoke on WXOS_FM 101.1 in St. Louis that the Rams may still draft Sam Bradford with the first overall pick in April’s draft, BSPN’s Adam Schefter all but told Bryan Burwell and Bob Stelton he would quit his job if the Rams didn’t draft Bradford with the first overall pick.

“I would like to record something here, on February 24th.  Two months from the draft.  And tell you who the number one pick is gonna be right now.  On the basis of what I’ve talked to people around the league [about], everything I’ve heard.  And at some point it’s gonna shift to this guy, and I don’t know whether it’ll be now or late March.  It’ll probably be after his Pro Day, when he goes through his Pro Day and goes through his workout.  Then all of a sudden — it’ll be about a month from now — we’ll start hearing, ‘Wow.  Would and could the Rams take with the number one overall pick Sam Bradford?’

“And I believe ultimately, when all is said and done, that the Rams’ number one pick on April 22nd, two months from now, will be Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford.  I’m willing to take all bets on that one right now.”

What does all this mean? If the Rams do actually pick Bradford, that means either manbeast Ndamukong Suh or Gerald McCoy will fall in the Bucs’ laps.

    Let’s hope so.

And…he didn’t say he’d quit his job, he just said he’d take bets on it…

Now that the bucs released AB now there’s no garantee that we go D-tackle first pick we might draft Dez Bryant! Either one for me will be fine I just know now we need a #1 wr. And this draft is deep at d-tackle!

Stafford & Sanchez got better rankings/grades as the draft approached last year. Who thought in early Feb. 2009 either would go as high as they did?? We need to remember how well Bradford played in 2007 & 2008 behind that good o-line. I saw both hits this past season that caused & reinforced the shoulder injury, & they were serious. Sam didn’t look at all fragile to me. He deserves a a lot of credit for coming back as soon as he did from the first one & trying to help his team. There really is no reason the Rams shouldn’t seriously consider him overall, provided he gets medical clearance that the shoulder won’t become a chronic problem.

this whole thing is ridiculous…because if the rams are going with bradford they would bluff to act as though they want a dt and try to trade back with the bucs to the 3rd position and get more picks….we would have to do it out of fear of losing one of the top 2 dt’s….then let us and detroit take the top to dt’s ….and then they would get their guy (bradford) at the 3rd pick …and have more stuff as well as we would have to give them more picks and players with the switcheroo…adam from ny

so basically if this is true, they do want to trade down with us….because it is the perfect spot for them to get more picks and their guy as well as c*ck blocking the skins from stealing their qb at the #4 pick

sounds like the stage is set for dominik and the rams gm to sit down and have a talk…may we call it tea for two?…………………adam from ny

call it tea for 2…and suh for me

  6. adam Says:

the thing is suh was a senior and he wasnt highly recognized as a junior….while mccoy is coming out as a junior and is already a phenom

  7. adam Says:

joe is a phenom too…moving in on pewter reports turf…..this sight is blowing the f*** up my brother!!

  8. bucfanjeff Says:

    McCoy.

  9. Eric S Says:

I don’t agree with some of your comments Adam. People did know about Suh before this season. The guy was first-team All-Big 12 in 2008. He really built on that season to have an even bigger year in 2009.

McCoy did come into this season as the #1 DT. He would have gone high in the 2009 draft. McCoy had another quality season in 2009, but his numbers are dwarfed by Suh’s. I do think both players will have fine careers. I just wanted to point out that both players have been producing far past this previous season.

The Yams(Rams) are not that stupid to pick Bradford as number one pick. The bucs and the Lion both picked qbs as number draft pic so i believe they will trade down to get something out of the first overall pick. unless another team is willing to trade up to get Bradford, Thats the only thing the rams need to watch out for

  11. RastaMon Says:

erll since Joe says Freeman is “a bust in waiting”…we have no choice but to draft Bradford

This may change the likes of it happening:
