“Why Do You Hire Raheem Morris?”

October 29th, 2009
Former NFL head coach Jim Haslett apparently doesnt think much of Raheem the Dream.

Former NFL head coach Jim Haslett apparently doesn't think much of Raheem the Dream.

Former NFL head coach Jim Haslett dropped in on Ron Diaz and Ian Beckles Wednesday morning on WDAE-AM 620 and dropped a bit of harsh words on the NFL, documented by the always evasive “Times Editor” of the St. Petersburg Times.

Haslett, who coaches the Florida Tuskers of the UFL, which is partially owned by the Tampa Bay Rays and will play a home game Friday night at the Fruitdome in St. Petersburg, opened fire on the NFL.

Questioned about how his kicker, Matt Bryant, could be released by the Bucs, Haslett released some venom upon the NFL, specificaly the Bucs, when he said:

“I think [Bryant is] an excellent kicker, but there’s a lot of things that go on in the NFL. Why did the Rams trade Will Witherspoon? Why do you hire Raheem Morris?

Ouch!

You know things are getting bad for Raheem the Dream when a minor league coach is taking shots at you.

Why DID the Bucs handle Raheem?

If you don’t like this then I refer you to this link:

Say what you want but Jessup is an American hero – flawed but a hero nevertheless.

  2. Mr. Lucky Says:

PS – Before anyone points out the obvious – I KNOW Jessup is a movie character. Secondly I do NOT sanction a “Code Red” on anyone – especially our fellows in arms.

What I am saying is this – there are certain men who do things that we ask of them without hesitation for love of God & Country.

    And Haslett is where again?

  4. ChuckInJax Says:

Not to defend the Bucs and their hiring of Rah-Him, but why doesn’t someone ask Haslett about the circumstances surrounding his dismissal from the ‘Aints. Hint: They work for free and use pom-poms. Speaking of “things that go on in the NFL”–smart move COACH!!! C’mon Jim–it’s the FL Tuskers Stick with what you know, which is obviously NOT how the NFL works…

  5. Sgt Mike Says:

At this point I’d rather have Jim Haslett as our coach.

  6. Sgt Mike Says:

And seeing that his team could probably polish off the Bucs with NFL castoffs as players is scary!

  7. Louie Says:

Haslett would probably have a win if he was coaching the Bucs.

“Why do you hire Raheem Morris?”

With his lack of experience and with highly important sections of his resume blank such as his record as OC or DC, which he has never been, then the most popular reason would be that he came CHEAP!

    The truth hurts

  10. BucFan South Tampa Says:

Hey, the UFL is just waiting for when the NFL has a lockout, there is no more NFL football, and the USL and Florida Tuskers, with all of the Buc vets are the only thing around. Fans will be jumping at the chance to get to a game. Saw the game between Fl and New York couple of weeks ago. About 14k in the stands, but I tell you it was some pretty good football.

I don’t mind saying that I like Raheem Morris. I was really happy for him when he was promoted to Defensive Coordinator in the offseason. I thought it was a great opportunity for a defensive coach to show what he could do when given an awesome opportunity.

But then, within days he was promoted again to Head Coach, and I thought… who knows if this is a good move, but regardless of whether it is or not, it sure smelled like the front office was either in panic mode or all-out chaos. It was like they had no plan whatsoever, like they were playing whack-a-mole with the staff instead of even trying to come up with a plan.

Who is to blame for that and how do we get them to pack a suitcase? Assuming that such a person even plans well enough to know what to pack…
