Dan Sileo Tries To Explain Himself

October 30th, 2009

Before he was hit with a gag order by Clear Channel management, WTSP-TV Channel 10 was able to snag an interview with suspended WDAE-AM 620 morning host Dan Sileo over his inaccurate report that the Glazers were near bankruptcy thanks to investing with financial scoundrel Bernie Madoff and were about to sell the Bucs to cover their losses.

Dan should have thought better of making those remarks while working for the Bucs flagship station.

Dan may have been wrong with his info, but I am glad the light has shone on the Glazers. I would love it if people would really investigate why the Glazers have been so cheap the last 4 seasons or so. Is it because of the purchase of ManU? Or is it something else? And with the upcoming no cap season, the Glazers can spend even less because there won’t be a salary floor that they have to reach. That is scary to me.

When did this become a Dan Sileo blog? I realize that with a bye week there isn’t much in the way of news, but do we really need a recent majority of articles about a radio host that lied for ratings?

    This is major news, sorry.

Think not? WTSP led its 6 p.m. newscast with this story. This, potentially, could result in how Bucs fans may be able to listen to games. This could affect how Bucs news in the near future could be delivered to fans.

Joe is not overstating this. This, potentially, can have wide-ranging effects even for fans.

the identity of Madoff’s victims are confidential, unless they want to go public, but if you want to believe Joel Glazer, that’s fine. If you don’t, that’s fine, too. It’s your right as a human being, an American and a Buc Fan to believe what you want. Hoo-Rah!!

  6. Joe Says:

    George:

Madoff’s victims list is quite public. Court documents are public record.

God help Joe for linking to a Huffington Post item. Joe doesn’t know what will cause him to burn him hell more: Linking to the Huffington Post or Dull Patrick?

I wasn’t aware of that list, Joe. I was going by what I was told by a person I consider pretty knowledgeable about such matters.

The list makes Mr. Sileo’s assertions quite irresponsible if he could have just looked up the “customer” names.

The one aspect of the Madoff scandal that piqued my interest was all the speculation months ago that the owner of the NY Mets may have lost a bundle to the ponzi king. The, a few weeks ago, I heard on the radio the guy apparently MADE money through Madoff. At least that’s what I think I heard.

Anyway, thanks for setting me straight on the list. I remain your devoted reader and fan.

the ironic thing was just the day before he was telling how he broke the Vick/dog story and held back waiting for 2 hours until he had 3 confirmations……in the context of internet and media in general running with just a whiff of a story……
