Another Critical Michael Clayton Drop

October 4th, 2009

The Michael Clayton saga is getting beyond ridiculous. The guy can’t catch the ball for yet another season.

Barring an epic turnaround, Clayton is officially another failure by the Raheem The Dream and Mark Dominik regime. What an offseason free-agent signing, $10 million guaranteed for a guy who hasn’t caught the ball regularly since 2004.

Clayton dropped a critical third down pass on his hands in the second quarter against Washington. Mike Nugent then missed from 48 yards. Thanks, Mike. At least you’re consistent.

The Bucs’ No. 2 receiver has seven catches, two dropped touchdown passes and zero TDs through four games. Looks like he’s on pace for another Michael Clayton season.

Perhaps the Bucs can put some weight on him and turn Clayton into a blocking tight end.

All he does is block anyway, and surely Jerramy Stevens isn’t proving to be much of a weapon. And he’s clearly allergic to blocking.

What kind of excuse is Steve Duemig going to make for him now? It was always that he couldn’t catch because Gruden was on his ass. News flash: Gruden is long gone.

So what is Clayton’s excuse now? Is Raheem too hard on him? Does he need someone to change his bottle for him in the middle of a night? Is he mad that Greg Olson won’t clean him after Clayton shits in his diapers?

I don’t give a damn how good he blocks. If you want another blocker, you sign an offensive lineman to play wide receiver. If a wide receiver can’t catch, he is as worthless as a quarterback who can’t throw or a running back who can’t run.

Watch what you say Jimmy. Clayton might come to where you work and get you fired the way he did Gruden. At least the Culverhouses can say they did give a little of their money away.

Clayton is worthless. Dumbinick was bidding against himself to sign this slug. And to hear Clayton talking on the radio about “being one of the leaders on this team”…I almost got in a car accident. I just cannot stand to see this guy on the field any longer. This was a tough loss today, it was one of the few games on the schedule we had a chance to win and the HC and OC blew it. You put a hot Caddy on the bench and insert a RB prone to fumbling with less than 2 minutes to go and down by 3 with 1 timeout. Inexcusable mistakes for a team going nowhere, fast.

“I dare you to write about Michael Clayton and ask why he is on this team….I dare you!!!”

Mike, you’re right on the money. This coaching staff is so so bad. Tightends can’t block. JJ was under pressure all day.

  7. Raheem Morris Says:

How dare you write something bad about Michael Clayton. I will be blasting you on my twitter, facebook, and myspace. Of course, that will come after I make some ignorant remarks at my press conference. Sorry, I need to go chestbump one of my losers…I mean players!!
