Where To Go For Blackouts

Grayson Kamm of WTSP-TV has a report detailing the chances of blacked out games for the Bucs. In short, no Bucs game can be broadcast in any form within a 75-mile radius of the CITS.

So to see the Bucs if a black out occurs, Kamm notes, fans will have to travel to Orlando, Ocala or Port Charlotte.

Fitting that this year the Bucs are wearing the throwback unis. Because the last time the Bucs were blacked out was in 1997 when the Bucs still wore the creamsicle jerseys.

    1010 seems to be reporting that there will be no blackout but tickets remain to be sold and they are suggesting a plan is in place to buy them up before Sunday.

    The real question is if we got this close with the Cowboys on opening weekend what will happen with the Panthers, Falcons and other such games. The future is murky for sure. We do of course need to win and at least be competitive or eeeks!

    Joe’s going to take a wild guess that if the Bucs are stinking the joint up by the time the NFC South foes come around, there will be blackouts.

    A slight correction…1996 was the last year of Bucco Bruce and the creamsicle jerseys.

    1997 was the last year for Houlihans (the stadium formerly known as Tampa) and not the C.I.T.S.

    Sunday Ticket won’t help – if its blacked out its blacked out on that too.
    So many people think Sunday Ticket will save them from Blackouts. Need to read the Directv Sunday Ticket FAQ’s a bit more.

    I seem to remember Opening Day 1997 we played the 49ers at home, the game where Sapp tore up Rice’s knee, and I had to listen to it on the radio. Am I wrong on the year, or was that game blacked out too?

    Bucs home games that are blacked out cannot be broadcast by any means (dish/cable/internet/over-the-air) within 75 miles of the CITS.
