Kareem Huggins Among Bucs Cuts

September 5th, 2009

The Bucs finally announced the victims of today’s mandatory NFL move of trimming each team’s roster down to 52 and the only moderate surprise was running back Kareem Huggins.

The other cuts are as listed below:

T Anthony Alabi

CB Kyle Arrington

DT Chris Bradwell

C Rob Bruggeman

DE Jarriett Buie

S Steve Cargile

WR Patrick Carter

DT Rashaad Duncan

DE Louis Holmes

CB Darrell Hunter

T James Lee

TE Jason Pociask

TE Ryan Purvis

LB Bo Ruud

WR Mario Urrutia

Terminated Vested Veterans:
K Matt Bryant
FB Jameel Cook
WR Cortez Hankton
WR Marcus Maxwell

Huggins impressed Bucs officials with his play and hustle but suffered a hyperextended knee in the win at Jacksonville and never had a carry since. Joe suspects if Huggins clears waivers the Bucs will sign him to the practice squad.

Carter, who graduated from Lakewood High School in St. Petersburg, was one of two local products trying to land a wide receiver gig. The other, Brian Clark of Tampa who graduated from Jefferson High School, made the squad.
