Don’t Forget The Other Hometown Player

August 12th, 2009

Much has been made of the hometown receiver Brian Clark, a Tampa native and Chamberlain High School grad.

But Clark isn’t the lone receiver from the area. So too is Patrick Carter.

Carter is trying to hook up with his second NFL team. He was with the Ravens last summer but was cut in late-August. Now the former Lakewood High School quarterback from St. Petersburg is hoping he can stick with the Bucs.

Thus far he’s having a blast.

“I’m having fun,” Carter said just before practice began Tuesday afternoon. “I’m having fun playing for my hometown team. This is wonderful.”

The depth chart isn’t very kind to Carter. He’s currently listed as a fifth string receiver behind Michael Clayton.

Raheem the Dream has said often that people shouldn’t read too much into the depth chart this time of the year. Joe hopes Carter is heeding Raheem the Dream’s advice.
