Saints Not Interested In Brooks

June 9th, 2009

"People, I can still bring it."

Today NFC South blogger Pat “Vacation Man” Yasinskas, of, intelligently speculated the New Orleans Saints might be interested in Derrick Brooks after their linebacker corps was thinned out yet again.

So, of course, the local MSM in New Orleans asked Saints coach Sean Payton about Brooks this morning. And Payton shot down the speculation, reports The Times-Picayune.

Payton said the team is content with the current depth at the position and plans to take the nine players on the roster into training camp.

As a Bucs fan, Joe is pleased. The Bucs don’t need to be playing against Derrick Brooks twice a year. Plus Brooks likely is much better than the Saints weak outside linebackers.

That said, Joe really wants Brooks to play in 2009. Joe loves when players quit on their terms, and/or die on their shields.

Sean Payton has been designing plays the last few years that specifically targeted Brooks. It should come as no surprise that he doesn’t want the same guy he targets as the weak link in our defense, coming over to his defense. It’s sad, but it’s reality. Brooks is no longer an asset, he’s a liability. The only team he might have value on is the Bucs, for leadership, but even that doesn’t look likely.

Sean Payton Sucks and so does his Team. The Saints will finish last again. They are trying to fill voids with over the hill players that are one minor injury away from retirement. The Saints are playing for the win today and not the future, but the strategy will not work. Drew Brees is the life blood of the team and again, he is about due for some time out. Derrick Brooks is too good to be Saint. That’s why we Buc fans call them the Aints, because they aint ever won nothin, aint gonna win nothin, and they aint worth nothin. Their 15 minutes of fame was up about 3 years ago when Jeff Garcia could still play. Seeya, wouldn’t wanna be ya….Chumps.
