Griese Busy Off The Field

June 1st, 2009

Joe is always here to serve those few Bucs fans who wonder what Brian Griese has been up to while his four quarterback colleagues on the Bucs sweat through OTA practices.

Son of Bob is hard at work on his various chartible efforts, reports the Ann Arbor News. His recent quotes to the newspaper almost sound like those of a player ready to hang up the cleats.

[Griese’s] campaign raises money for C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Women’s Hospital and Congenital Heart Center. In three years, the event has raised about $1.3 million.

He also founded Judi’s House, a children’s grief support center opened in 2002 in Denver, in honor of his mother, who died of breast cancer when he was 12.

He feels he has a responsibility to use his reputation and career as a springboard to launch similar nonprofit, outreach programs….

“This is 12 years for me in the NFL, so I’m very fortunate and thankful for the opportunity to do what I’ve done for a living,” Griese said. “Now I want to make money to give it away and make a difference.”

If Griese has as much success giving away money as he did giving away the football, the world will be a much better place.
