Browns Made Out Better Than Bucs

Lost in the shuffle/horror of the Bucs actually trading up to acuire their bust-in-waiting Josh Freeman, is that there was a second quarterback crucial to the falling dominoes, Brett Ratliffe.

When the Jets traded up to get Mark Sanchez, part of the deal to aquire the Browns pick was for the Jets to give up the No. 17 pick. In that deal Ratliffe was sent to Cleveland.

In turn, Cleveland sent the No. 17 pick to the Bucs so the Bucs could hoodwink the entire NFL and get Freeman.

Wes Bunting, no fan of Josh Freeman, claims the Browns came out ahead of the Bucs in finding a quarterback Saturday.

One point that has gone virtually unnoticed is that fact the Browns traded for QB Brett Ratliff on day one of the draft. Ratliff not only knows head coach Eric Mangini but also the Cleveland offense, and I think he has all the tools to develop into an NFL starting quarterback. In what was one of the weakest quarterback draft classes in years, did the Browns secretly get their franchise quarterback in the 2009 draft? For the record, I would take Ratliff over QB Josh Freeman any day.

Though Joe is hardly growing soft, Joe is thinking about tempering his pounding of Freeman. Not because Joe thinks he’s a solid pick — he isn’t — but there are roughly three months between now and the start of training camp.

That’s plenty of time for Joe to remind one and all what a monumental mistake this Freeman pick was.

AWWW Joe, picking on Freeman and the Bucs is soooo much fun! Especially when you remember their first round pick next year goes to Cleveland and that looks like it mat be a top 10 if not top 5….

Unless I totally missed something, the bucs gave a 5th rounder next year for winslow not a first rounder!

I loved J. Freeman prior to finding this site, then this site made me hate Josh. Now that we have him ( like I knew we would ) why are we still bashing him? We’re stuck with him now Joe, lets at least not ‘eff his head up in the time being eh? Glazer didn’t hire you to GM and prob never will, let’s see how this pans out. The draft is nothing but risk and guess what, we happen to be 1 of 32 teams that ALL took one!!! Jesus! We have weapons we aquired in the offseason in Ward, Winslow, & Bryant franchise tag, so let’s give Freeman a chance to shine with them. If it doesn’t work out, we still have Josh Johnson as a project back up plan. Now here is a take, why don’t we give up a 2nd round pick next season and get Anquan?!?!? Can u Imagine Q, Antonio B, and Winslow out there? Joe, me or you could suceed behind center with those weapons!

Joe, the Browns may have done better with their draft but the Glazers still win in the most important stat that there is to them. Saving MONEY!! Go Manchester United!!!! Goalllllllllllllllllllllllllllll!!
