Defensive Line Now Has Holes

Bucs fans may be up in arms if defensive tackle Chris Hovan is unable to play at Atlanta.

If the Bucs lackluster play on defense Monday night didn’t disturb Bucs fans, this news might, so be prepared to page down.

The Bucs may have a few holes on the defensive front when they face the Dixie Chicks in Atlanta Sunday. Stephen Holder of the St. Petersburg Times notes defensive tackle Jovan Haye and nose tackle Chris Hovan aren’t locks to suit up in Atlanta.

Holder wrote that while Ryan Sims played OK to fill Haye’s void, Sims is much better working in spurts rather than as a fulltime tackle. Holder reports Hovan told him he would be fine but Chucky was less than upbeat about Hovan’s status.

Simply put, the way the Bucs defense has given up yards on the road, the way the Bucs looked so below average on defense Monday and that, like the Bucs, the Dixie Chicks are also fighting for their playoff lives, the Bucs’ defense needs all hands on deck.
