Joe’s Take: Meaningless Victory

Week 2 brought a win, but no answers

Week 2 brought a win, but no answers

So the Bucs beat the Falcons 24-9 on Sunday. (Joe told you to wager)

But what was learned from the victory? Absolutely nothing. Everything you can take away from this game is what we already knew:

  • Brian Griese is a capable backup QB who won’t make anyone forget Jeff Garcia
  • Rookie QB’s not named Marino or Elway are overmatched against the Bucs defense
  • Earnest Graham and Warrick Dunn are sharp, ready and underused
  • The Falcons will struggle to win four games this season
  • The Bucs vertical passing game has yet to take the field
  • Dexter Jackson slips and falls a lot

That about sums it up. This Bucs team – and its 18 penalties in two games – remains an enigma.

Tampa Bay’s game at Chicago next week should reveal much more.
