Hurricane Gustav Is Forcing The Saints To Leave Town To Prepare For Opening Day

[UPDATED 8/29, 3:33 p.m.]

If Tropical Storm Gustav continues its current course, heading for New Orleans, the Saints announced they will relocate the organization to Indianapolis. The Saints are expected to make that decision sometime before Sunday noon.

The Saints’ goal is to get the team settled there so it can begin its regular game-week routine starting Monday morning. The team will practice in the Colts’ new Lucas Oil Stadium.

Joe has been in touch with Saints insiders all week, and this was a last-minute announcement that came from organization Thursday night.

No word yet on possible alternate plans for the Saints home opener against the Bucs on Sept. 7.
