“This Is A Straight Grind”

February 20th, 2015

Jameis Winston answered Joe’s question about his baseball career and noted how this is the first time he has ever had an offseason he can devote solely to improving in one sport.

After he left the podium, he went straight to the table of SiriusXM NFL Radio to chat with the co-hosts of “Movin’ the Chains,” Pat Kirwan and Jim Miller.

There, Winston talked about the “grind” to prepare for the combine, and announced, yes, he will throw tomorrow.

Wow…..Mariota really got equal time….what did we get an article with his answer to one question….”no”

The Winston PR machine continues to roll….and if he is drafted, it will need to continue indefinately…..

  2. WS99 Says:

Sounds like a baller to me. That’s confidence you hear in his voice. I know it’s hard for some of you to pick that up since you don’t no what ballers sound like. Maybe he sound have thrown in crying n tears so he could sound more like your hero mcasswipe

  3. al121976 Says:

The NFL season is going to be a REAL grind, I hope he is prepared. Also, based on previous article’s; what did whitfield (the qb guru) say about Manziel last year? just curious to judge credability

  4. MarshallU Says:

    TBFan

Whichever team drafts Winston will launch a massive PR campaign to justify it and sell him to the fans

(don’t judge grammer mistakes on the internet plz)

  6. Nybucsfan Says:

I wanna let y’all know. Hmmm or you all college education

  7. HawaiianBuc Says:

    @TBBF,

Mariota isn’t as polarizing as Jameis. No one can argue that. He just doesn’t move the needle. If Joe were to do an article about Mariota, 90% of the comments would end up being about Winston anyway. In fact, that’s already happened.

  8. lurker Says:

i posted this earlier before the pc. he told george whitfield jr the same thing.

good interview with george whitfield jr, qb engineer, on nflnow. of course, nothing negative really on winston or petty. however, interesting tidbit about how winston would have reported to baseball 2 days after the rose bowl game. winston said this is the longest in his life that he has been a fulltime football player. winston has been competing while in football half the time. winston is excited to see how far he can go doing football 100%.

  9. tmaxcon Says:

The haters will hate. Winston is the bucs only choice anything else is irresponsible business practice and should result in glazers being Baker Acted.

  10. Supersam Says:

Wake me up when we draft Mariota, I can’t stomach reading about a player (Winston)that won’t even be on our team in 2 months anymore.

  11. DallasBuc Says:

I can’t wait to hear this guy in post-game pressers after winning football games! I wish we could draft him now and get him in the building.

  12. lurker Says:

i prefer winston by a lot…but we need to pick one of these 2 qb’s!

  13. Posey99 Says:

“I know it’s hard for some of you to pick that up since you don’t no what ballers sound like.”

I’m confused, but I provided some reference for you to elaborate on.

    Definition of BALLER

: an implement for shaping food into a ball or removing a core

  14. tmaxcon Says:

Supersam order your Winston Jersey and customized fan boy kit

  15. Rrsrq Says:

I’ll say it again, btw, I don’t like the Noles at all,
Jameis Winston, ya’ll like it, I love it

  16. Bucs#1 Says:

After Watching Winston on the sideline at the end of the Oregon game when he and his Noles were getting hammered by Mariota and his Ducks when he was throwing temper tantrums, throwing and kicking things, screaming at his teammates and yelling in his coach’s face, I really don’t think that he will be able to handle the pressure and scrutiny of being a QB in the NFL

  17. bucrightoff Says:

Credit to Jameis, he expects to be in the Super Bowl next year, which clearly indicates he knows he’s in for a deep slide to a team in the 24-32 range (the teams that will, you know, actually be in the Super Bowl next year)

  18. Rrsrq Says:

Winston, is confident because #1. All he has done is win #2. He knows the receivers here in Tampa Bay had a 1000 yards with McCown and a porous offensive line, he is saying in his mind, I know the Bucs can win with the right QB behind center

  19. Jeagan1999 Says:

Give Winston credit. He sounded great and did well answering the questions. I’m glad he will throw too. Now we can see that arm in action. I still worry about off the field stuff with him, but his agents had him well prepared for today. I’m still leaning Mariota, simply because I think he is a more dynamic playmaker and has less “baggage”” to worry about, but Winston certainly didn’t hurt his chances today, as some thought he might.

  20. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Hawaiian

    I agree…..Winston is a much more polarizing personality….love him….hate him….

I’m sort of “like him”……You’re a smart guy though….you can see the ochestration going on daily….sometimes over the top. It’s comical.

I know you support Winston and I respect that….If I had to choose today…I’d still choose Mariota….but none of us gets to choose….and if we did, it wouldn’t be today. .

  21. HawaiianBuc Says:

    @TBBF,

Agree with everything you said. It is comical – from both sides. I’m obviously now a Winston guy, but even some of the pro-winston guys are over the top. I just don’t like how so many of the mariota guys are so full of hate.

I’m going to be fine no matter which we draft, as long as it’s one of the two. I prefer Winston, but I could easily be wrong. None of us know who’s going to be great. If we did, we wouldn’t spend hours a day on JBF.

  22. Lovie equals 2015 Blackouts Says:

Ah who cares… its all entertainment… bring in the clown, bring on the circus.

  23. grafikdetail Says:

@Nybucsfan a yankee would try to belittle a southerner for the way he talks…but the kid was accepted into Stanford and they don’t accept dummies…

  24. Babaloo Says:

@hawaiianbucfan. I think some of it is because some marriotta backers are just anti-Winston rather than pro marriotta. I would rather Marcus get drafted here myself but much of this stuff is ridiculous.

  25. grafikdetail Says:

just found out Mariotta took 31 sacks last season, almost twice as many sacks as Winston…for a guy that’s athleticism is raved about that’s concerning…but they may be including some stuffed run plays at sacks

  26. lurker Says:

“I’m going to be fine no matter which we draft, as long as it’s one of the two. I prefer Winston, but I could easily be wrong. None of us know who’s going to be great.”

    hear, hear

  27. grafikdetail Says:

@Bucs#1 as opposed to being on the sidelines during a losing battle looking like a robot…most saw it as winston trying to rally his team, not giving up and having a serious passion to WIN…

  28. Cody Says:

    @Nybucsfan…

Damn know he gets hated on because of the his Southern accent or does he talk too black for you?? is that what it really is?? just say it…

I favor Winston, but I would still be ok with Mariota…However, the same cannot be said by you and a few other posters who literally wouldn’t piss on Winston if he was on fire; it’s evident in almost everything you post…pure unadulterated hate…Just trying to see if you hate him so much because you think he’s a bad person or you hate him so much because he’s black…

Ok, I’ll be here, and feel free to point out to me how right you were.

But, conversely, I will make sure to rub it in your face when he excels here in Tampa both on and off the field.

  35. rayjay1122 Says:

Damn, I have been a Bucs fan since 1976 and we have had the first pick only a few times but I have never seen the fan base so divided over who we should select with the 1st pick. This will at least be a more entertaining off-season than last year.

  36. LOYALbucsfan Says:

wow, after hearing Jameis’ press conference, I do hear a little bit of genuine sraight up confidence. I was not a fan of drafting a qb at all, but if we do draft a qb it should be mr. winston. I do think that MG8 should start, but Winston’s ability and confidence could lead us from day 1.

  37. Kingpin1 Says:

    Cody,
You should call Al Sharpton and let him know that there are Bucs fans who don’t like Winston and YOU think that it’s because he is black and they are racist. Even though you don’t even know the people making those comments. So Cody you think EVerpne should HAVE to like WIndton because he is black??? Get over it Cody people aren’t buying what you are selling. You sound foolish!

  38. seminolebuccaneer Says:

bashing a kid seems to be what makes some of you feel better about yourselves. Its odd that most of you cling to a media narrative instead of taking time to read the facts and form an opinion. Winston has many haters because he wins. If he had just been average in college you guys wouldnt even care. Look at how many guys were actually arrested for what winston was ony accused of…do you guys hold your torches saying “these guys are horrible and a cancer” no because they dont have near the talent that winston does.

  39. Bucfan4life Says:

NYbucs fan cracks me up. He tries to make fun of Winston’s grammar and proceeds to write an incoherent post. He is one of those posters that every time he puts something I here he botches it all up with grammatical mistakes. Those that live in glass houses……..
