Tedford Not Spotted At Bucs Practice

September 1st, 2014

Tedford rightUpdated: 3:31 p.m. – Tampa Bay’s new-to-the-NFL offensive coordinator wasn’t on the practice field today, at least not during the 30-minute window open to media at One Buc Palace.

Jeff Tedford had some sort of medical procedure after the Bucs-Bills game nine days ago.

Joe wishes Tedford well, but Joe can’t pretend this isn’t a setback for the team.

Yes, Tedford might be taking it easy somewhere and feverishly gameplanning for Carolina on a laptop, but there’s been no indication of that from the Bucs organization.

*At his 3:30 p.m. news conference, Lovie Smith said Tedford is greatly involved thanks to technology and made a visit to team headquarters recently. Lovie would not commit to Tedford calling plays on Sunday.

Thanks Joe, just more mystery on the O

  2. T-DUB Says:

As an RN, I can tell you if it was Cardiac related, he would be held to non-stress situations for a week-15 days. I’m sure he’s planning, talking to his team (coaches included) off the field.

He’ll be ready to go. He wouldn’t start his first PRO season this way.

  3. Capt.Tim, Back from Davie Jones's Locker Says:

Are Bowers and Mike Jenkins practicing?

  4. Joseph Mamma Says:

No worries, Lovie claims: You’d be surprised, offensive coordinators are over-rated, just like offensive linemen cohesiveness.

  5. BUC4LIFE79 Says:

    @Joe

I take it Joe’s, you won’t let this subject slip by Lovie in a PC, I’d ask him str8 out if part of the game plan this week will include Tedford being in the box calling plays on gameday….Bet he’ll respond, AT this point in time, yes that is the plan.

  6. Captain Buc Says:

It drives me crazy! Why can’t they just tell us what’s going on? It seems like a Schiano kind of move. I would understand if it’s just a imbarasing kind of surgery like a hemroid removal but even still what kind of competitive edge do you lose or gain by not saying anything at all?

  7. Macabee Says:

    Captain Buc,

To say any more than what has been said would be a violation of the privacy rule of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).

  8. Louis Friend Says:

    @Macabee

Would be better if Tedford just provided an update to the media through the team. Sincerely hope it’s not dire or something that’s going to be a lingering problem. But 9 days removed from surgery and still not around cannot be a good sign about Tedford. Especially not at this vulnerable point in the season.

    Fingers crossed.

  9. BUCTROOPER Says:

To everyone clammoring for the reason why JT is out….

If you had penile cancer, would you want the world to know about it?

Get out of your TMZ-Twitter world and consider the man’s privacy. It’s none of your business why he’s out. I am sick of this “I have to know everything about everyone” world we love in now.

  10. buc4lyfe Says:

Lol seems we don’t have depth at offensive coordinator position either no wonder bpsn picked us to go 5-11

  11. t-dub Says:

    BUCTROOPER…

    exactly!

Its not any of our business. Not one person has stated “Hope he feels better and makes a quick recovery (for Sunday).

IF (and when) the team wins, it’ll be a non-factor who ever is in the booth.

    Go Bucs.

Obviously, this was not a minor surgery. Lovie did say he had made a visit to the facility recently. That’s good news. If it were something dire, then he would have resigned. We had NFL coaches back on the field last year in a week after heart attacks and strokes. My guess–and it’s only a guess–is that he’s rehabbing and will be back in the booth on Sunday. Lovie wants every competitive advantage he can get. if Carolina wants to try to analyze what will happen if Tedford can’t be there to call the plays, that’s to our advantage. I expect he’ll be back at work on Wednesday, when the real practices for Carolina begin. Because we’ve been preparing for Carolina for at least two months, I’m not all that concerned.

  13. t-dub Says:

    true words buddha!

its game week and everyone is hyped (and freaking out).

everyone needs to settle the nerves and have confidence in our team.

  14. Stanglassman Says:

It no mystery. It’s been reported and even discussed on JBF comment section. If you choose not to believe or pay attention then I guess it will remain a mystery to you’ll. It’s NOT heart or anal related more ENT.

  15. Hoppy Says:

Have you ever heard the term TURP?

  16. Barry Says:

I’m sure Joe, 620 , 98.7 have all have inside sources. This is the big times, hate to think outside entry-level investigative reporter(s) would come into town and scoop you. #UnsolvedMysteries

  17. ToesOnTheLine Says:

Maybe the mystery to Tedford’s mysterious offense is that after watching Freeman manage to open last season with back to back delay of game penalties (still have nightmares of Josh’s deer in the headlights look in that Jets game) Tedford decided to have an experimental procedure to surgically implant a transmitter in his brain that allows him to merely think the plays and they will be sent to the QB’s helmet mic?

  18. FanOfBucs Says:

    Get better soon, Ted!
