Rebuilding His Reputation

August 6th, 2018

Redemption.

When one attends Bucs practices — Tampa Bay returns to the practice fields of One Buc Palace this morning after a needed day off — it’s hard to determine that America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, is the monster than some outside of Tampa believe him to be.

As observed by Mike Jones of USA Today, plenty of fans wearing No. 3 jerseys — the nerve! — wait patiently after practice for autographs and Jameis is happy to oblige, so long as he gets his extended work in with a few teammates sometimes 20 or 30 minutes after practice under the sweltering Florida summer sun.

In a way, writes Jones, it seems this is the beginning of Jameis’ redemption tour. At least to those looking in from the outside.

Winston admitted he has “some hard work to do to regain the trust of my fans.” He appears to be on his way to doing so based on the fan responses at camp. And the Bucs themselves remain believers. The outside world will take some time for Winston to convince, as his checkered past and at times erratic play have always given his critics voice.

As Joe has written, if Jameis leads the Bucs to the playoffs, all of this hooey will largely be forgotten. Think about it: a guy Saturday night was inducted the Pro Football Hall of Fame after copping a plea in front of a judge in a double-homicide investigation, and made off from the scene of the crime in a bloodied white suit. The Bucs have a guy in the Ring of Honor, whose name is illuminated for all to see, who has had a few seedy moments in his post-NFL days.

Jameis too can redeem his reputation. He just need wins.

I just wish there was any evidence that Jameis could take a team to the playoffs, I haven’t seen it.

  2. Marine Buc Says:

    #1 – shut up!
#2 – stay out of trouble for once in your life!
    #3 – WIN!!!

  3. m0j0 Says:

As long as he keeps his efforts to score on the football field, he will be just fine!

  4. webster Says:

    @ fartman

I wish there was any evidence that jameis actually groped someone, I haven’t seen it.

  5. 1sparkybuc Says:

    Haters don’t need evidence.

  6. Walter Seidel Says:

Took him, what, SEVEN YEARS to build his well-earned reputation. I’ll check back on his reputation in seven years.

And Joe….you state “it’s hard to determine that America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, is the monster than some outside of Tampa believe him to be.”….man, it’s NOT just outside of Tampa!!!! Again….HE is the one that caused this “hooey” (a term that seems to fall well short of sexual assault and other “hassles”). No one outside of Buc or FSU fans are giving him a pass on this. And he’s still the number one Buccaneer in history to divide a fan base so strikingly. He’ll soon be gone by his own doing. Might take a year, but it will happen. Better for the TEAM to make it happen now. (This IS a team sport, right?)

  7. The Buc Realist Says:

I guess neither does the NFL!!!! Keep saying that their is no evidence while JW3 sits for 3 games ( more if he does not mean certain obligations!!!!!!!” Just know that the NFL office has in the past destroyed evidence and given out a slap on the hand punishment!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reputations takes years to build and seconds to destroy!!!!!!!!!

The truth of the matter for all Buc fans and “so-called” fans, is that Jw3 next hassle could have him out of the league!!!!!!! The Bucs Need to look at drafting a QB with either 1st, second or a project in the third!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Bucs have to look at a contingency plan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    GO Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. stopthemadness Says:

    @fartman

Jameis has the most touchdowns by any NFL quarterback before the age of 24 (69) and the most passing yards by any NFL quarterback before the age of 24 (11,636).

But he sucks according to you. Brilliant analysis.

Getting to the playoffs is a team effort. Go fart your negative opinions somewhere else.

  9. Rob in Land O Lakes Says:

Walter Seidel said: “He’ll soon be gone by his own doing…”

And if he has a good year and gets that second contract, you’ll still be here to admit you were wrong, right Walter?

  10. Bucsfan951 Says:

@webby: not sure if you need evidence when Winston AND his union isn’t pushing the issue on the suspension.

  11. webster Says:

    Realist

You are an idiot if you think the nfl has proof. After the ray rice debacle, the nfl implemented a rule that any assualt against a female gets 6 games minimum. Last i checked, 3 does not equate to 6. Do you jameis haters not understand the PR nightmare the nfl would receive if there is actual evidence that he did infact do what he is accused of? Especially in this me too era? Do you jameis haters actually have brains or do you spew your nonsense from your @$$? Its obvious what end many of you think with.

  12. webster Says:

    @ bucsfan

Because he was drunk and thats why they dont fight it. End of story.

  13. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Rob actually hope he leaves this board. It’s funny how those who call him all these names will never say it to his face, unless there’s a cop or a reporter there.

Walter Seidel there are a lot of guys out there who hate the fact he even had sex with a white woman and that’s a source of a portion of that hate nationwide and you’re probably one of therm, no matter if you or others don’t want to admit it. It wasn’t but 50 years ago young boys were linched for even bein ACCUSED of whistling at one. That hate has not gone away, just went to message boards where they get to show it loud and proud anonymously. So if the Bucs give him a 2nd big contract would you tuck your sanctimonious tail between your legs and go root for the teen Titans?

  14. Buc1987 Says:

    Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaancy!!!!

  15. Pickgrin Says:

“if Jameis leads the Bucs to the playoffs, all of this hooey will largely be forgotten”

That’s truly the bottom line Joe.

Jameis Winston’s “path to redemption” will be through winning football games.

I believe he finally has the supporting cast to achieve that.

  16. Dewey Selmon Says:

Use of race card has been declined. Please try again…

  17. Walter Seidel Says:

Rob in Land O Lakes………..I haven’t been wrong about this guy yet.

  18. Walter Seidel Says:

And DavidBigWinstonFan…….Did you seriously (and “sanctimoniously”) attempt to call me a racist with that STUPID comment about Winston and a white woman?? I hope everyone reads that dumbass comment a few times over. It’s all yours buddy.

  19. The Buc Realist Says:

The “real” Buc Fans think to regain the fans, that we need to see the true JW3!!!!! He needs to be “real” !!!!!! One of the Joe’s thinks that he should just go full wrestling heel as the bad guy!!! But we all know that is not the “real” Jw3!!!!!
    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  20. Tony Borders Says:

I guess no one is understanding the suspension is for violating the NFL conduct policy. That’s not what the NFL statement said. –Joe> didn’t report it in a timely manor. It is not a admission of guilt for groping. Geeeeshh

  21. Bucsfan951 Says:

@webby: yes because getting drunk is illegal and ordering an Uber stead of drinking and driving is irresponsible. Come on, man! I’m not a Winston hater but I can draw the lines between the dots.

  22. The Buc Realist Says:

    @joe

AWWWWW come on!!! That was funny!!!!!! What happened to my “full carte blanche”!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. Kobe Faker Says:

“What if JW3 doesnt win enough this year? The professionals (lines makers) claim 6.5 wins…

    What then?

Kobe believes it would be best for both JW3 and the Tampa Bay Bucs to separate for the benefit of both parties”

    Kobe “JW3 Uhaul Driver” Faker

  24. Godeep66 Says:

JW lead his team to three wins last season with virtually the same returning offensive lineup. What in the world do you fools think will change this year?? He is what he is after three years in the NFL: a turnover matching that pads his stats only due to playing from behind due to his poor play earlier in the game. The same thing as it pertains to the season…he pads his stats in meaningless end of season games because the other teams are resting players due to sealed playoff spots. They will be 2-14 this year which is pretty damn sad

  25. The Buc Realist Says:

For anyone that has the wrong thought that this was a “failure to report”, that was leaked form jw3 camp!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From NFL.com the official league statement was
” The NFL “concluded that Winston violated the personal conduct policy by touching the driver in an inappropriate and sexual manner without her consent and that disciplinary action was necessary and appropriate.” As part of of his discipline, Winston is required to obtain a clinical evaluation and fully cooperate in any recommended program of therapeutic intervention.

“A failure either to obtain the evaluation or to cooperate with treatment will result in further discipline,” the league said in a statement. “In addition, a future violation of the personal conduct policy will result in more substantial discipline, including a potential ban from the NFL.”

  26. 1sparkybuc Says:

Like I typed earlier, haters don’t need evidence, just imagination.

  27. BucsFan90 Says:

Trump can “grab them by the p*ssy” and go onto become president but we gotta hold a drunk 22 year old kid in a cab to higher standards 😂😂

  28. webster Says:

    @ bucfan

Getting drunk and not remembering what the he11 happened is reason to not fight the suspension. End of story.

  29. ben Says:

(My thought and opinion only.) FSU paid big $$ to the lady Winston was accused of taking advantage of. Its my understanding Winston also paid her some ‘be quiet” cash . Who saw the vulgar speech Winston gave in the cafe at school screaming about a female student and what the guys should do with her??. Then publix and their employee completely say Winston was not truthful on saying the crap legs were a gift when he got caught. Winston now has not truthful with the bucs are the fans buy keeping the uber thing quiet after he was banned by uber. He never has denied those charges so the list goes on. Nationally Winston has not shown to be level headed on the field either and rated about average . I just think the bucs need to look at other options for the sake of the team and the bucs good name.

  30. webster Says:

    @ godeep

You are truly an idiot. The defense is not the same, the kicking game is not the same which all contributed to at least 5 losses so your 3 count is 8 right there. But i forgot, an idiot like you do not understand that defense and kicking games and running games are also a part of football which determines wins and losses. You really are not very bright.

  31. webster Says:

    @ ben

You are a liar. Fsu paid the lady due to title 9 which has nothing to do with winston. The state of florida did not have any evidence to take this man to trial. Did the state of florida pay this lady too? And your living in your momma’s basement @$$ have no evidence jameis paid off any body. They both had civil suits against one another and both decided to drop the charges. You are still talking about stuff thatt took place in 2011? Get your lying @$$, butt hurt mariota loving @$$ off this board.

  32. The Buc Realist Says:

I think the sheep and the robots are confusing what jw3 camp leaked to the media and the NFL’s official statement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  35. Walter Seidel Says:

Hey Webster…..here’s a list of thing FSU initiated as part of its defense of paying Erica Kinsman $950k. And it’s from the FSU website….

Forming a Sexual Assault Prevention Task Group responsible for initiating educational campaigns to prevent sexual misconduct. This resulted in the creation of the University’s kNOw more campaign prominently featuring a public website that serves as a one-stop resource for online reporting of sexual assaults as well as an informational resource.
Hiring Jennifer Broomfield, a highly qualified expert in interpersonal violence, to serve as full-time Title IX Coordinator. Ms. Broomfield, who is both a social worker and an attorney, has extensive training in trauma-informed investigations. She has already redesigned the Title IX website and conducted a number of sexual assault prevention trainings, including sessions for students, faculty, staff, head coaches, Athletics Department administrators, and student-athletes.
Publishing a comprehensive Victims’ Rights and Resources handbook informing all student of the wide range of available services.
Adding six new positions relating to on-campus safety: Sexual Violence Prevention Coordinator, a Health Promotion Assistant Director, three Student Conduct staff members, an additional caseworker in the Dean of Students office, and a Title IX Coordinator investigator.
Requiring all in-coming freshmen to complete an online course “Think About It” to help them make more informed choices about sex and relationships.
Reestablishing the male peer group Men Advocating for Responsible Conduct (MARC) and establishing a co-ed counterpart, NOLE More.
Providing Green Dot bystander intervention training sessions to students.

  37. Godeep66 Says:

@webster: I guess Alex Karrad did not teach you (strung out child star) anything about football while on set. Your talking about “kickers”, cmon man a game should NEVER come down to a kicker. Preacher boy JW should never have to put a kicker in the position to have to win a game. JW is one of the worst QBs in the red zone because the field shrinks to match his IQ.

  38. ben Says:

webster.. I bet i pay more for my season tkts then u do ??? …Please show other people respect …

  39. Godeep66 Says:

And Mareota has taken his team to the playoffs. What has JW done?? Don’t ask him because he does not remember. I have personally seen him so hammered that he could barely walk. He was trying to get into the Blue Martini with flips flops and shorts on and caused a scene because they would not let him in.

  40. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I am on record supporting Jameis and believing he can win for us…

But, I can’t sit back and let his actions be minimized or accept that he did absolutely nothing wrong….if that’s the case, he gave up millions and got suspended for three games without fighting it…
We at least know he was deceptive and didn’t report the incident to his team.

And, stop using other peoples behavior as an example….it was a different time and completely different circumstances.

And to say he has been clean for a couple of years is perhaps a gross error…..what is true is that there has been nothing else revealed in the last couple of years. We didn’t know about Uber until a year & a half later.

Now, that being said….go out and win Jameis.

  41. 1sparkybuc Says:

Nobody was raped and nobody died, and nobody was charged, convicted, and sentenced for any crime. The incident was two and a half years ago and the first game that matters one month away. The law wasn’t involved and the league punished him for violating their rules. Nothing is going to change. Jameis Winston isn’t going anywhere. He will win games and make the Bucs a contender for the next decade or more. The haters will hate and the Buc fans will love it. Jameis Winston, and this team, give us the best option to compete for another Lombardi trophy. It’s done. He might be innocent. I’m not patient enough to deal with the growing pains of another rookie QB. Focus on football. This horse is beyond dead. It’s infested with maggots.

  42. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

This is my most frequented Bucs website. That said, is JBF really trying to say this, because it’s factually incorrect:

“That’s not what the NFL statement said. –Joe> didn’t report it in a timely manor. It is not a admission of guilt for groping. Geeeeshh”

  43. Godeep66 Says:

Mariotta has 400 more yards rushing that JW. JW has 31 fumbles in 45 games, Mariotta had 10 less. JW also has 10 more interceptions. Mariota has 100% support of his teammates and fan base, JW is sitting at 50% with fans and teammates alike. MM has led his team to the playoffs, JW has led his team to last place in his own division

***you tell me, did we make a mistake in drafting JW?

  44. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

🤣😂🤣😂Walter it was a question to you to see if that’s where all the hate for Jameis comes from. It’s funny that the people who caused the problem we still have in America get so inflamed and upset if it’s even insinuated that they are racist. Walter it’s not crazy because to this day there’s alot of men who can’t stand it they just don’t come out and say it. So don’t get the boxer’s or tighty whiteys in such a bunch, not accusing just insinuating maybe that’s where it’s coming from. Jameis has done nothing to make him out to be such a vilified person only according to you self appointed moral majority.

  45. Buccfan37 Says:

People really haven’t advanced much past caveman days, just better clothes and housing and propaganda to the nth degree.. look at how many things you can do with a ball.

  46. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

TamaBayBucFan nothing has been revealed in the last few years? That can be said about anyone, even the moral majority up here. Many innocent people accept convictions because they are told the evidence is overwhelming so they’ll get a better deal if they don’t fight it. Don’t make them guilty. If there had actually been proof he did something he would have gotten 6 games suspension like it’s been said before not 3

  47. gilhealy Says:

Godeep66, the Mute is so bad, they went all out rushing to try to look respectable. 13 td’s to 15 picks is what got them to the playoffs? OK. Drafting the Mute would’ve been the biggest mistake we could’ve made. Jameis will blow away anything the Mute does in his career. The Titans win despite him. He’ll be holding a clipboard sooner than later. Fragile little guy. Polite though.

  48. Walter Seidel Says:

Merely the title to this thread says a lot. That he has to rebuild his reputation, because his reputation is horrid. Yay. Go Jameis. He’s great. Horrible human, but he won in Tallahassee and got away with rape. Yay. Go Jameis. He’s great.

  49. webster Says:

    @ walter

Again fsu and title 9 has nothing to do with winston.

    @ ben

Me my brother and pops all have our own set of season tickets. Not sure what having season tickets have to do with anything. Show some respect? As soon as your lying @$$ show winston respect, i will show you respect

    Godeep

You dont deserve a response because i have to tell you daily you are a moron. That is all

  50. webster Says:

    Godeep

Mariota didnt do squat. You mean the mariota that had 12 tds and 15 ints and played a whole season? So i guess you did not see mariota’s defense and run game because it definitely was not the passing game. See thats why you are an idiot. But blame jameis when the passing game was 4th but praise mariota when he threw 12 tds and 15 ints. Yes godeep, you are a moron

  51. Godeep66 Says:

Dear Webster aka Snowflake: your view is odd and not the only one that matters. Now go back to watching CNN.

  52. webster Says:

    Godeep

Again you are an idiot. My view is odd? See gilhealy’s comment. Exact same. CNN? What do they have to do with anything? Oh i get it,….you are a hypocritical trump voter/supporter but have all this vitriol for the black man who has not been accused of sexual assault as many times as trump has and he definitely did not admit to it on tape. Yet you dont know why these players kneel. The hypocricy is mind blowing.

  53. Buc1987 Says:

    Godeep66 Says:

“JW lead his team to three wins last season with virtually the same returning offensive lineup. What in the world do you fools think will change this year?”

More continuity with the same lineup, a new kicker that won’t lose games single handedly, a defense that’s NOT last in the league, a half way decent running game. You know kind of like the playoff teams of last season and oh EVERY season.

    And…like Rhealist says….no more “Hard Knocks” distractions….

Maybe YOU should be GM cause he obviously is NOT worth keeping him around on and off the field…..oh wait….you could NEVER be a GM…cause you’re an “idiot”.

  54. JimmyJack Says:

Listen up moron fans. Jamies Winston is a Buccaneers QB. The organization is behind him. The front office is behind him and most importantly his teammates are behind him. It doesnt matter what you think. The Bucs have made their decision. So get on board and enjoy the ride. If Winston is playing and you aint rootin for him then just git.

  55. Godeep66 Says:

@buc1987: I forget more in one day about football than you will ever know. You must either be a FSU fan or an idiot, just like JW. Pops should have pulled out.

  56. Trench War Says:

Maybe the league should honor Rae Carruth with a gold jacket before he ends it all with a bedsheet around his neck like Aaron Hernandez did?

So yeah I agree, Jameis should be a shoe in for the HOF someday just for his seedy behavior. “Wins” are an obstacle but could be the icing on the cake.

  57. Bucsfanman Says:

I’m starting to think that there are some posters here who have missed their calling. That, or they are in fact Jameis’ counsel. Nobody here, NOBODY can DEFINITIVELY say one way or the other what transpired with neither the Uber incident nor the FSU incident. To proclaim otherwise is a LIE.
The bottom line is this: Jameis will be serving a 3 game suspension for something that arose from the Uber investigation. Meaning that Fitzy will be our starting QB for at least 3 games. It is unwise to think that Jameis will not be the starting QB come week 4 or 5. He is the better QB.
That being said, this debate is pointless. Either you’re a Bucs fan or you’re not. The Bucs are bigger than Jameis Winston. It doesn’t mean you have to like JW or buy his jersey. It doesn’t mean squat to me. Neither he nor the Bucs pay my rent, and until they do so I will continue watching the Bucs on Sunday because it is E-N-T-E-R-T-A-I-N-M-E-N-T! I have my own screwed up life to live!
    Go Bucs!

  58. Trench War Says:

    Bucsfanman

Guess what? I will say whatever I want. I will feel whatever I want. I will like whoever I want. That does not make me any less of a Buc fan than you. You know why? Because you don’t pay my rent either whatever the hell that was supposed to mean? Let me just say this about all you who try to fan shame people. If Winston comes back and sh|ts the bed after his suspension, he will be the reason why he will be gone. Not the fans. I’ve grown tired of his sloppy decisions on and off the field. If he’s so brilliantly bright, and what legends are made of, then how much more time does he need with all these incredible weapons he’s had at his disposal? I guess this is what we get for drafting a guy still in diapers. I want Winston to succeed but he’s making it harder for me to stay the course. We were betrayed. He made the promise to us and the organization to hold his position in the highest standard. He failed and now it’s up to him to bring us back. Some of you are ok with his immaturity, some of you have already forgiven him, some of you are waiting to see, some of you are done with him for good, and some of you never liked him. Whatever category you find yourself in, doesn’t make you any less of a fan regardless of what some @ssholes say.

  59. Bucsfanman Says:

Trench- Wow dude! Wasn’t proclaiming to be better than anyone and sure as heck wasn’t trying to “fan shame”, whatever that is. I’m sorry but that ain’t what is said AT ALL!
Not “paying my rent” means that I don’t care enough to continue to get angry or be disappointed or whatever else you snowflake posters are so freakin’ sensitive about!
Stop watching if it upsets you sooooooo much. You’re not a Bucs fan if you let ONE guy take away your entertainment on Sundays.
    Enough said!

  60. BelleGladeBuc Says:

    @Walter

A former Florida Supreme Court Chief Justice disagrees with you.

Florida Supreme Court Chief Justice Harding stated that Kinsman was not a reliable witness as she had changed her story numerous times to the authorities and the evidence did not corroborate any of her changing testimony, and therefore no criminal charges should be brought forth against Winston, nor did Winston violate any of FSU’s policies.

Quit lying and making things up.

FLSCCJ Harding is a much more reliable source and authority on Winston’s FSU case than you.

You can find him in the history books on several major Supreme Court cases in which the SCOTUS upheld his rulings in some cases, and overturned them in others.

Harding is highly respected and held in deep regard by the Florida Bar. For some strange reason, I can’t seem to find anybody who vouches for your legal expertise.

Florida State Attorney Meggs, the reknowned FSU football player prosecutor who built his career on prosecuting FSU football players, agreed with Harding as well. Prosecutor Meggs also stated that Kinsman was not a reliable witness as she had changed her story numerous times to the authorities and the evidence did not corroborate any of her changing testimony, and therefore no criminal charges should be brought forth against Winston, nor did Winston violate any of FSU’s policies.

All of this is easily researched and quickly debunks your lies.

Title IX violations were the ONLY thing Kinsman won on. Kinsman won nothing against Winston in criminal or in civil court.

Kinsman sued Winston and Winston sued Kinsman. Both agreed to drop their lawsuits against one another.

Quit lying. When you lie, people start to wonder what motivates you to lie.

  61. ATrain Says:

Man ALL OF YOU Winston Lovers will blindly follow him

Using the middle schooler tactic “Look at Him”

    Or the “No evidence “

There was No evidence for OJ either. HE DID IT

PLEASE if you want to follow him because he throws a ball OK
Shallow but your choice STOP WITH stupid excuses

    He Did It
    He is paying for It

Now let’s see what he does.

  62. Bucsfanman Says:

Trench-i don’t watch the Bucs for any ONE player. They are a team.So as such, I wont stop watching because of one guy.
You’re right. You can be mad, and stay mad that’s on you. I have a cat you can kick while we’re at it! That’s YOUR problem, not mine.
It’s football dude! Man, people are so sensitive!
    Go Bucs!

  63. ben Says:

My humble thoughts only.. How come the school paid thousands to the accused victim Kinsman?? …because the school did not follow thru with the rape complaint against Winston?? It was her word against his but did you know her? Who would you believe? … did you see and hear Winston in the cafe screaming the most vulgar words? Didn’t Winston also say the publix employee gave him the crap legs but the employee and publix stated that was never the case …so everyone lied except Mr. Winston time and time again.

  64. BelleGladeBuc Says:

    @Atrain

When Florida Supreme Court Justice Harding states that Kinsman is not a credible, I trust him.

When Florida Prosecutor Meggs, a notorious FSU football player prosecutor, states that Kinsman is not a credible, I trust him.

    You, not so much.

There was no case because of Kinsman.

From my memories of the reports, Kinsman wasn’t drunk like she claimed according to the tox screen, wasn’t drugged like she claimed after the drunk lie failed according to the tox screen, wasn’t hit on the head and knocked unconscious like she claimed (only wounds she had were abrasions on her knees according to the medical examiner) after the drunk and drugged lie failed.

That’s why Chief Justice Harding and State Attorney Meggs concluded she was not credible.

There are no other facts to dispute that. Only lies. Guess what, Meggs and Harding said Jameis didn’t do it. That’s all that matters. You, not so much.

  65. gilhealy Says:

BelleGladeBuc, great posts. I read all there was to read as I followed the case, and you are correct on both counts.

Nobody has to not like Winston or like Winston to be a Buc fan. period

  67. ATrain Says:

Hey Belle I’m talking about the Uber incident

Let’s stay up with the comments

Also you are as credible as Winston’s friend in the cab

Hint: They lies there was no friend

  68. ATrain Says:

But no FSU fan will ever go against this man

    He could grab your crotch…….

Wait bad analogy you would Love that

  69. Gene Deckehoff is my hero Says:

@godeep you are absolutely dillusional if u think Marcus sorryota is anything other than a below average NFL QB. Jameis can be a star and has the tools to do so. Jameis played 2 years in college and is still young. People like you salivate at every mistake instead of celebrate every good throw or how good he can possibly be. If u like Sorryota that much go get a Titans jersey and move to Nashville. I hear there is a great music scene out there. That music scene is the only world class thing in Nashville until Jameis or another visiting team comes through for a game…

BUT if you repeat the accusations over and over a few thousand times you can actually get someone to believe it’s factual without any evidence

  72. Bob in Valrico Says:

In a taped interview Willie Meggs faulted the police investigation in the following
    areas:
1.The detective did not go to to Potbellies to view their video to identify or verify Kinsman claims.
    2. He felt the cab driver should have been identified by the detective.
3.Detective conducted a phone interview with Jameis.
Meggs didn’t say if anything would have changed.
Neither a jameis apologist or hater, but some claims just don’t seem true to me.
I will say that any rookie patrolman probably could have done a better job investigating this case.
Imfo taken from NY times arcticle about errors in the investigation.

  73. BrianBucs Says:

Rebuild what reputation? That of an arrogant vandal, thief, liar, and alleged sexual assaulted?

  74. Walter Seidel Says:

@BelleGladeBuc…….go read the FSU website on this issue. Period. It’s in their own words. The words of Mr. Thrasher. Enjoy. And I find it completely laughable that the Winston jock sniffers are now resorting to defending him in this rape case of years ago, where FSU paid her almost a million bucks, and although we’ll never know, it’s totally reasonable to presume Winston paid her similarly to escape court proceedings……and trying to divert attention from this sexual assault and subsequent lying to his coaches, the owners, and his own team mates. Yeah, they are all aware of his character.

  75. BelleGladeBuc Says:

    @Atrain

    You have no credibility.

No rational person would ever compare a double homicide to a groping where the woman never pressed charges.

Except that’s what you just did.

  76. Walter Seidel Says:

BelleGladeBuc….go ahead and rely on a Seminole alumni. I’ll rely on the words from the FSU website, likely in the words or Mr. Thrasher himself. And I find it completely and utterly laughable that you Winston defenders and jock sniffers focus on the legalese of how Winston avoided rape charges (Tallahassee PD protecting him “do you know who he is?”), while attempting to divert from the issue at hand….sexual assault. And how he lied for what, two years? ….to his fans…to his coaches….to his employers….and to his team mates. Yeah, they ALL know the character of one Jameis Winston. And now we all know. Some will deny it…and defend him. That’s your right….to be wrong.

  77. Walter Seidel Says:

Joe, now you’re blocking my retorts. Nice. Guess I’ll have to keep it to simple (simpleton) sentences.

  78. ATrain Says:

    Typical FSU FAN

    JAMIES NO MATTER WHAT

Just Happy it wasn’t your daughter Belle

But help if it was Jamies you probably would have been pissed she didn’t ask of an autograph

  79. Walter Seidel Says:

Joe……….the proof mounts that Winston, solely, has irrefutably divided this fan base. This is a team sport. There’s no room for division such as this crapola.

  80. Joe Says:

go read the FSU website on this issue. Period. It’s in their own words. The words of Mr. Thrasher.

What about the words of retired state Supreme Court Justice Major Harding, a man who the defense signed off on to oversee Winston’s hearing. Harding claimed there wasn’t sufficient evidence.

    Now who ya gonna believe?

  81. Joe Says:

Joe……….the proof mounts that Winston, solely, has irrefutably divided this fan base. This is a team sport. There’s no room for division such as this crapola.

Divided the fanbase. The fanbase is not the Bucs. The locker room is fully behind him. Try again.

  82. Bucsfanman Says:

Trench- Nobody was deflecting anything. I would ask that you re-read my post, but I’ll do one better and quote myself:
“Either you’re a Bucs fan or you’re not. The Bucs are bigger than Jameis Winston. It doesn’t mean you have to like JW or buy his jersey.”

How you got anything other than that is beyond my comprehension. I think we’re saying the same thing, only I didn’t hurl insults……:)

  83. I’m a Tandyman Bucs Fan Says:

Damn Trench, lighten up brother!! Bucsfanman is saying exactly what it is. You either like Jameis or you don’t. It doesn’t have anything to do with being a Bucs Fan. He is totally correct in his assessment. One man (JW3) is only a little cog in a big wheel. I have been around a long time and know that anyone or anything can be replaced including Jameis Winston. It is what it is and Jameis has 3 games to sit out. Fitzpatrick will be our quarterback those three games (GO BUCS) . I’m a big time Bucs Fan and I’m sure as hell going to be rooting for Fitz to succed, not wishing him to fail!!!

  84. Bucsfanman Says:

You DA’ man, Tandyman! What’s good?!

  85. I’m a Tandyman Bucs Fan Says:

All good here in the Hood Bucsfanman My Man. Can’t even voice an opinion on here anymore without being blasted!!!! This Jameis situation he put us all in has gone overboard. Be glad when it’s all over and Jameis either sinks or swims…. I’m full of all the JW3 jargon…. Let’s get to the good stuff man…..Da Games!!!! Have a good week Brother!!!

  86. Bucsfanman Says:

Amen to that brother! That’s what I’m trying to say, lets just move on to football. It will be a welcome relief!
    Back at you Tandyman!!!

  87. Jaycee Says:

His “checkered past” is based on allegations. There was only one incident that was legit (crab legs). And that was beacause a manager was “hooking him up”. Yes, he should have known better. But I’m sure as a star college player, he was getting free meals, drinks, etc., everywhere. He isn’t who is portrayed to be. He made some bad decisions and put himself in situations where he could be compromised. As the Who said, “The Kids Alright”.
