Beau Allen And The Bucs

March 13th, 2018

Linked to Bucs.

Joe doesn’t think it is such an awful move to try to sign a guy who just won a ring.

And it seems Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht is kicking the tires of backup Eagles defensive tackle Beau Allen, types Vikings beat guy Chris Tommasson of the St. Paul Pioneer-Press.

Why would a Vikings beat writer have this info? Allen is from Minnesota.

The other team linked to Allen is Detroit.

Notice most Bucs rumors the past two days involve defensive tackles? It smells like Licht has all but thrown in the towel on getting an edge rusher and hopes if he can buy a stud to play alongside Gerald McCoy, maybe he can get sacks up the middle.

Joe cannot imagine  26-year-old Allen being anything more than a backup, rotational player. Though he has only missed one game the past four years, he’s only started eight games in that same span.

Allen sounds like Clinton McDonald minus the sacks. Allen has just two in his career. Regardless, this isn’t good news for McDonald returning to the Bucs.

  1. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

As long as they don’t try to pass him off as some kind of key contributor. And use that as an excuse to not sign an actual impact player at DT.

Like Sheldon Richardson, Starr Lotulelei (Who is supposed to sign with the Bills), or Bennie Logan.

  2. BetterBuccinBelieveIt Says:

    Joe says:

“Regardless, this isn’t good news for McDonald returning to the Bucs.”

This isn’t “good news” period, not nearly enough influence. So what. If I hear the word “rotation” from the Bucs one more time?!?!

    Go Bucs!

  3. Joeypoppems Says:

Of course the Bucs are interested in a back up when there are still starter quality guys needing contracts.

I dont understand how anybody can believe Licht is gonna do things differently this offseason…

  4. Tnoles Says:

Great let’s sign a backup and hope he turns out to be something. Let’s not go out and sign pro bowl caliber starter let’s sign more back ups! Licht your awesome lol! Let’s go mediocrity!!

  5. Joeypoppems Says:

And yes the Bucs are interested in a NT. Thats why drafting Vita Vea makes sense.

  6. Greg Says:

it is not good news for booking your fans either! We keep signing and re-signing guys that have a track record of never getting sex. William Gholston got a new deal a couple of years ago. Noah Spence and Jack with Smith are both too small to play defense of end and that’s why they’re constantly hurt. The rest are practice squad guys we took from some other team that will never get more than two sexes season. That would be the problem with our defense!

  7. Buddy Says:

Who???? lol. Bucs looking at backups. Hahahaha

  8. University of Seffner Says:

Let’s put it this way, the Bucs so far have looked like a guy who’s looking for a girlfriend but keeps getting rejected.

  9. Greg Says:

It should read Buccaneer not booking your. stupid spellcheck! We have not had a good nose tackle since burger McFarland and we have not had a good defensive end since Rice. that’s about 15 years for those counting. sapp, mcfarland, rice Were all first round picks. Not rocket science here

  10. Waterboy Says:

Beau who? Never heard of him.

  11. Bird Says:

DE Alex okafor will sign here with this bum Achilles

Buckner is his old coach who got most out of him. Players go where their coaches go a lot of times. He will be cheap Around 2 mil same as last.

  12. Bird Says:

    Bo didley

  13. Buc4life Says:

Another second rate player. Not a difference maker and McDonald, whom we already have is better.

  14. Lamarcus Says:

McDonald I’m hoping he signs elsewhere. McDonald is too good to be a buccaneer. GMC needs the stats anyway cuz he ain’t got no leverage here with McDonald eating his sacks.

  15. ndog Says:

Wow just wow this is starting to worry me quite a bit. Getting a backup off another team is not exactly going to put us over the top.

  16. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Something tells me we are signing Suh tomorrow.

  17. Bradinator Says:

I got no problem with a depth guy. He’s likely cheap, and if he doesn’t make the team no big whoop. I’ll take that over another Swaggy disaster. There are going to be signings like this too. Very few “stars” out there. They tend to stay with their teams. Not a good year for FAs to save us. There’s a reason N.E. is never really a player in FA.

  18. William Says:

So let me get this straight. We came in with over 70 million in cap space. Re-signed a couple key pieces and now have around 50 million or so. Still have guys like Sweezy and Gholston eating up cap for no reason. We were DEAD LAST in defense last year with the least amount of sacks. Guys like Sheldon Richardson, Dontari Poe, and Ndamukong Suh are available, and we’re looking at signing a DT named Beau Allen ?!?! Eagles and Rams obviously got the memo of what it takes to win. We are a joke…the new Cleveland Browns. GM and Coaches jobs are on the line and we’re not doing anything at all. I know Licht can draft well but if he’s relying on the draft to fix this team overnight, he’s an idiot. They are 100% fired if we don’t make the playoffs next season.

  19. Pitts236BUCS Says:

Bucs spending a lot of cash with existing players and have their eye on some BIG FISH free agents. Leads me to believe that they are looking beyond signing Jameis to a long term contract, as there would not be enough money to go around. They know more about the investigation than they lead us to believe.

  20. Bucsfan951 Says:

It sounds like to me that licht is trying to find that “hidden gem” and will sign this dude to be a starter. Of course, he should be a back up and won’t cut it. I often wonder what goes through Jason’s head. He tries to get too cute sometimes and it bites him in the arse.

  21. Greg Says:

The Buccaneers in free agency is like being at the club after last call trying to find a girl to go home with. It’s slim Pickens you may score but you’re just not gonna feel good about it LOL

  22. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Bucs making 3-13 moves now with a backup DT, cant wait, at least the bucs have a new theme….three dash thirteen in 2018

  23. Pa Privateer Says:

I completely agree with the idea of focusing on DTs since impact DEs are gone.

Let’s go after POE, RICHARDSON, and SUH.

Hell even create a LDT, NT, RDT defensive front. Then let all our DEs and LBs be rovers. kinda like a 34 defense, except let Spence and Bond be the rovers and pass rush standing up from any position. Devante Bond is a former college DE and he could be used in that way again as well.

  24. tmaxcon Says:

    Pitts236BUCS

clean your crack pipe…. jameis is not going anywhere. already greatest qb in bucs history and soon to be the greatest buccaneer of all time. after all outside of sapp and selmon the bar is set very very low for what is great in buccaneer land. Jameis is the bucs get used to it.

I will say that your take is one of the more entertaining ASSumpstions today.

  25. Lamarcus Says:

Beau Allen is garbage. Pass and put the money elsewhere.

  26. Mike Johson Says:

Please fellow Bucs fans..Stop making this thing complicated. Its simple…A backup team…signs backups!!

  27. Tom Edrington Says:

Joe keeps referring to “the free-agent dinner bell” needs to rephrase that for the Bucs as the “snack-bar signal”

  28. RawBucFan Says:

Ndamukong Suh, Vinny Curry, Kony Ealy!!! Get all three!! As far as signing Suh is concerned Licht should have learned his lesson from last year by being cheap & passing on the best and nastiest d lineman available. Go get him ASAP. Cannot play NFL defense without having a nasty attitude. That’s what Suh brings even more than talent…ATTITUDE!!!

  29. darin Says:

    Bird
Okafor may sign here. Yes the relationships are the only reason sometimes. Still need 2 other DEs even if licht does sign him. Cant count on alot coming off a torn achilles. Licht should offer a 3rd for robert quinn. Oh wait. Need the 3rd to give away to move up and select a safety who theyre gona switch to corner. Go Bucs

  30. Lord Cornelius Says:

    hmm

Never heard of this guy lol. The thing that stands out to me is he’s 36 lbs heavier than Clinton McDonald (6’2 333 vs 6’2 297).

Smells of a 3-4 depth NT maybe? Moving McCoy to DE in 3-4 and going with Vea as the NT with guys like this and Stevie T as depth?

  31. BrianBucs Says:

Well, you have to have backups and depth

  32. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Running back Peyton Barber has re-signed with the Bucs.

  33. 813bucboi Says:

    pa privateer

I hope we do land poe richarson and suh…..all 3!!!!….that would be the only thing to save this offseason disaster……I agree with you regarding bond…..he rushed the passer in college so he has the skills…..just another bad personnel decision by this staff……

you would think with the uncertainty surrounding Winston and him possibly facing suspension licht would be smart enough and have the urgency to beef up the defense since that side of the ball combined with the run game may have to carry us the first 6 weeks of the season…..

    no sense of urgency….no excuses!!!!!

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!!

“Of course the Bucs are interested in a back up when there are still starter quality guys needing contracts.

I dont understand how anybody can believe Licht is gonna do things differently this offseason…”

I could swear the article does not say Licht is only kicking the tires of this player. I mean, I might be wrong.

FYI, it’s not just his job to get starters. He also needs to get depth.

  36. Bird Says:

Just checked his ranking for DTs on Walter football

Let’s just say he is ranked way worse then Chris baker of all people.

This has to be an early April fools joke?

  37. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Minus the money to sign the draft picks, we have around $30m left I think. I could be off, but I think that is about right.

  38. gman Says:

If he is a backup for the Eagles, then we should schedule his Ring of Honor celebration if he signs with this crapshow.

  39. thespiritof1976 Says:

Who would ever want to come to Tampa after seeing the A.H. fans here ?

  40. SCBucsFan Says:

Thank God the Brate, Evans and Grimes extensions are done so we can go back to the pit of misery this board is. Dilly dilly.

  41. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I would remind people here we do not know the reliability of Chris Tommasson. He may be on the up and up, or he might be another one of those guys that makes stuff up to have something to talk about.

  42. FireJasonLicht Says:

Has Jason Licht been fired yet? Licht aka Meathead is so stupid he will probably give this guy elite starter money . You know kinda like how he did for backup LT Anthony Collins and made him a starter. Can’t wait for the 2018 season I’m eager to see whom the Glazers bring in to replace this fail regime.

  47. Tampabaybucfan Says:

According to Tmax…all we have to do is get rid of GMC and we will be better.

That sounds so simple, why hasn’t Licht consulted Tmax?

please enlighten me o wise one how signing players that you have been losing with without upgrading talent is going to improve the chances of the bucs leaving their safespace the nfc south basement in 2018… Team has not gotten better one bit… just gambling on injury prone unproven players and leftovers so please help me understand why I should be positive.

  49. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Positive Tampabaybuc, I’m positive with this roster of loafing, half ass trying, underachievers that we will not contend for the South, much less playoffs. But you keep being the cheer leader….thats gotten us far in the last 16 years. Maybe if there were more fans with pitchforks and torches in hand this ownership team would get themselves a good front office and coaching staff. Is it a coincidence that no gm or coach that has been let go from here since Gruden and Allen have gotten even a nibble of a chance at the NFL?

  55. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    tmaxcon Says
    “bonzi

  63. Its_A_Tough_Buc_Life Says:

Not a bad signing for depth. He played 479 snaps for the Eagles last year, 2 less than Time Jernigan. Good rotational piece. Go get Suh and Ryan Jensen! Bring some nastiness to our lines and then go and get Trumaine to start opposite of Grimes. We’d be in business.

  64. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Chris

Thanks….l’ll take that as a compliment…what else would you expect.

    Hey @Greg,

Loved your last take, hilarious sir!

Remember Buc faithfullll…Licht still has rounds 1-4 draft picks intact for 2018-2020!! But yeah, this FA inactivity really is pitiful, insulting to the paying public.

    SA-QUON, SA-QUON!

    Go Bucs!

  67. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I don’t put as much stock on rings for backups…but we need backups

  68. tmaxcon Says:

    SCBucsFan

you are wasting your time but i appreciate the efforts. remember it’s not hate when it’s reality and so far I am much closer to reality pertaining to the bucs than the optimists who believe the franchise is close when in fact the glazers have zero intentions of fielding a competitive team. now back to this praying, I am heading to a new gentlemens club can you throw a good word in advance for me. I am hoping for a little red head with a bad attitude for lunch.

  69. SCBucsFan Says:

I’m Catholic we pray for the difficult cases

  70. tmaxcon Says:

well it is difficult to find a cute red head with an attitude that is not totally physcotic.

  71. Pickgrin Says:

    Bonzai Says:
“Minus the money to sign the draft picks, we have around $30m left I think.”

Closer to $40 – But we are likely trying to re-sign McDonald, Tandy and McClain for a total of about $5M. Should also be looking to re-sign Evan Smith for solid Oline depth IMO – that’s another $3M. And Licht intends to do new long term deals for Kwon, Marpet and likely D. Smith this year. Those are all $8-10M per year deals. Those guys are all on the books for peanuts right now – so factor in another – say $25M for those 3 players.

What are you left with? Not much. Maybe $10M max or less. Not enough to sign 1 big FA with.

This is what Koetter meant when he said we didn’t have $17M lying around for 31 y.o. Campbell. Jags committed big time for Calais – big $ for multiple years. We were not in a position to do that and also resign our own YOUNG studs this year and next (Winston).

    2. JETS (trade w/ Giants): Baker Mayfield
    3. BILLS (trade with Colts): Josh Rosen
    4. BROWNS: Josh Allen
    5. CARDINALS (trade with Broncos): Sam Darnold
    6. GIANTS: Quenton Nelson
    7. BUCCANEERS: Bradley Chubb

UPDATED MOCK IF COUSINS SIGNS WITH JETS:

    1. BROWNS: Saquon Barkley
    2. BROWNS: (trade w/ Giants): Josh Allen
    3. BILLS (trade with Colts): Josh Rosen
    4. GIANTS: Quenton Nelson
    5. CARDINALS (trade with Broncos): Sam Darnold
    6. DOLPHINS (trade with Jets): Baker Mayfield
    7. BUCCANEERS: Bradley Chubb

I now have the Browns drafting Saquon Barkley and Josh Allen in both mocks, the Bills drafting Josh Rosen in both mocks, the Cardinals drafting Sam Darnold in both mocks, the Giants draftinQuenton Nelson in both mocks and the BUCS DRAFTING BRADLEY CHUBB IN BOTH MOCKS … the only thing that I have changing is that I have the Jets drafting Baker Mayfield if they don’t get Cousins, and them trading down to a team that will draft Baker if they do happen to sign Cousins.

  74. richbucsfan Says:

everybody talks about Licht looking at “Big Fish”…this is not the time to be looking at an aquarium, but a time to act. If he screws this up, he and Koetter are history. The level of talent and depth on this team will not get them anywhere

  75. tmaxcon Says:

    NFLNUT

very creative but neither chubb nor barkley will be bucs. wau too many assumptions in that scenario.

  76. NFLNut Says:

    TMAXCON,

I have Saquon going #1 overall in both, so no, I certainly don’t and never have expected him to be a Buc.

However, I know actually do expect Chubb to be available at #7.

I have Saquon, Quenton Nelson and all four of the top QBs going in the first 6 picks and I feel pretty good about those mocks.

  77. NFLNut Says:

    TMAXCON,

One more thing … if Chubb does happen to go in the top 6, that will mean one of the top 4 QBs is still available at #7 and we will be in the driver’s seat in demanding a king’s ransom for the pick from a team needing a QB.

So, at this point, I absolutely expect us to either get Bradley Chubb or to trade down and get a king’s ransom in return for the #7 pick … we’re in a great spot.

  78. Nick2 Says:

Joe he will be giving up on that soon too. He might as well give up on fielding a competitive team if he cant bring anyone to Tampa but draft picks. Well we will be good just not under his regime, maybe 5 or 6 years down the road. This has Glazer boys frugalness all over it.

  79. NbJoker Says:

Blah blah blah… back ups fill in rotational need. McDonald is getting older. Allen is younger and can play in 3-4 or 4-3 scheme. I think Bucs will get Sun from dolphins for conditional pick. Be patient!

  80. RickinFtMyers Says:

With all the endless talk about an edge rusher there is another way to skin the pass rush cat. Another stud, world class defensive tackle paired with Gerald McCoy could be just the ticket. Two guys consistently collapsing the middle of the pocket would force quarterbacks into the hands of of even average edge rushers. If qbs can’t step up into a pocket formed by the center and guards, they have to go somewhere and that’s typically going to be to the outside right into the waiting arms of even average, but well discipline edge rushers who stay in their rush lanes.

  81. Lord Cornelius Says:

    @813

My thought process is to kind of let this play out and not get too high or too down either way. If we literally only sign this DT in terms of any upgrade going into the draft then yeah I’ll probably freak out but FA has barely begun.

Really all that will matter is what happens week 1 next year. I’ve learned it’s hard to judge offseasons until the real action starts. On paper we got the Redskins best D-lineman last year in Chris Baker for example. That was exciting to me at the time. In retrospect I should have been upset we spent any $$ on him lol

  82. Steven007 Says:

    Connor Barwin makes sense.

  83. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    NFLNut

“So, at this point, I absolutely expect us to either get Bradley Chubb or to trade down and get a king’s ransom in return for the #7 pick … we’re in a great spot.”

I do not disagree at all and I find it amusing for that group who have been grousing since last year over #3’s dramatic and inspirational 4th Q comeback win over the best team in our division to end the year and what it cost us in the draft.

First off NOBODY knows how the draft will turn out. I certainly agree with the logic behind your reasoning but I would have never believed OJ would last until 19 last year. The draft is such a gamble….but a win in the last game of the season is a FACT an accomplishment and something to build on for next year.

If we are able to land Chubb without trading up then I do want to trade up bigtime to get Vea along with him.

Imagine we are able to sign both Chubb and Vea in the same draft…then if Noah’s shoulder responds…we have the core of a great DL for years to come.

  84. BetterBuccinBelieveIt Says:

    Mannnn…..good for Kirk Cousins!

3 years, $86 million FULLY GUARANTEED! Stud contract! And it puts the Jets now back firmly in the QB at #6 in draft.

Aaron Rodgers is one happy camper right now, and his agent! He’s gonna get paidddd.

Go Bucs! Go Barkley! Go Bold! Go Primetime!

  85. NFLNut Says:

^ Chubb and Vea woud be awesome! However, I highly doubt Licht trades back into the first as it would take a lot … you could be giving up a Sony Michel, Derrick Nnandi and Anthony Averett just to get Viti Vea … that’s way too much imho.

  86. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    @Stpete

Well, in short, us grouses are extremely concerned that the only possible way have have a shot of landing one of the 3 best prospects in the 2018 draft (Nelson, Barkley, Chubb) is if 4 QB’s go in the top 6 picks.

If that doesn’t happen, we’re kinda screwed.

  87. AlteredEgo Says:

Ya think Licht is nervous….ever wonder what is going on in a squirrels brain when it is trying to cross the road with a car coming on….and maybe the high profile names don’t want to come here because of Jameis….

Its negligence NOT to look at every player available. Now we want to shoot Licht because he is doing what he should do? Hilarious.

  92. JimmyJack Says:

813…..Calm down with your knive to gun fight speech. Joe has mentioned literally dozens of players in the past few weeks. Most of which will mean nothing.

My personal take is they want a big upgrade at DT. They wanted it last year and since Baker flaked it’s still the direction. I’m thinking Poe will be their target.

  93. DB55 Says:

Tier 3 free agent? At least licht is consistent.

  94. JimmyJack Says:

I would love to see them sign Poe and Wilkerson or maybe Peppers if they can lure him here.

But that may be wishful thinking since they need a Pro level CB, RB, and S here. Thinking they go lower name ends/draft to fix the rush.

  95. JimmyJack Says:

I think at the end of the day Buc fans need to come to term with the fact that we may still be weak in the pass rush dept.

Yes, if we are as terribly poor as last year that may be something to freak out about.

But if that unit can just improve some, at least on obvisous passing downs, we could be a lot better defensively especially if the backfield improves. Getting burned in the run game has to get better though. That has to become a strength.

If you add that with an offense that could do its job and give us some leads and force the other teams to become one dimensional we will have a good team if they don’t come out with heartless efforts, again.

Sure, a ton of ifs……and basically the same ones as last year for that matter. But I think we are closer then given credit for.

A pile of trash from top to bottom.

Get ready to suck again Bucs fans.

    F this team

  100. Bossmode Says:

How’s that meaningless extra win do for the draft

  101. AlteredEgo Says:

Boos….at the end of the day…I’ll take the spirit of that last TD and win over a higher draft pick….

  102. GhostofSchiano Says:

    Tom Edrington Says:

Joe keeps referring to “the free-agent dinner bell” needs to rephrase that for the Bucs as the “snack-bar signal”

    LOLOLOLOLO SO TRUE

  103. JimmyJack Says:

Get out of here band wagon fans……You wished to root for the Saints over the Bucs, leave us out of it. There are no more games too so the last time you watched a game with a rooting intrest you rooted for the Saints.

You won’t even have a chance to get back on our wagon til Sept. As of now you aren’t a true part of the fan base with no chances to be forgiven. By default the Saint are officially your team of alliegence so you may kindly leave JBF and go to the New Orleans page if you wish to talk football with fellow fans.

  104. JimmyJack Says:

Sweeptheleg is very disgruntled. Can’t blame you bro. Scroll up and look at NFL Nuts mock draft. Maybe that’ll help

  105. Bossmode Says:

Maybe one of you guy can explain do the bucs have enough cap to sign Suh and the honey badger? And still fill some other holes?

  106. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

How can I be called a bandwagon fan for wanting the best possible outcome for my team?

Momentum does NOT carry over into the next season. That win is not convincing any free agents to come here. Literally all it did was set us up to miss out on potential franchise changing players.

Can you really tell me that you wouldn’t want a guaranteed shot at landing Bradley Chubb, Quenton Nelson or Saquon Barkley? Instead of now facing the very real possibility of missing out on all 3?

  107. Chris Says:

Heh Joe, your guy Dion Lewis has st least 5 teams chasing him, guess who one of them isnt. But, we did sign Captain Mediocrity, Peyton Barber….who I keep thinking, sounds like a over rated 3yrds a carry New York Giant.

  108. JimmyJack Says:

Sorry that you don’t like it Blake. But when you root for another team over ours that is the textbook definition of a bandwagon fan.

Maybe not the conventional version of a bandwagoneer but a bandwagoneer nonetheless.

And while momentum does not carry over your last know allegiance was not with the Bucs it was against them. Therefore by default you are labeled a Saints fan. I’m sorry but I don’t make the rules and bandwagon stains cannot simply be washed away.

Don’t worry though these crimes are not unforgivable. You may rejoin the fan base. It will just take some time.

  109. webster Says:

    @ alteredego

You just admitted to being a troll. I tried telling you this a couple of weeks ago with your constant stupidity and hatred towards jameis. Now in your own trollish words “sometimes i get bored i’ll chuck a grenade.” Please everyone take note. Ignore this idiot troll.

  110. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

Yeah well I reject your premise entirely senior YimmyYack.

By hoping for them to lose a meaningless game, I was rooting for us to get a player that could help us achieve actual meaningful success in the future.

    Those are the facts.

  111. AlteredEgo Says:

@webster….I don’t take you as seriously as you take yourself….the jury is out big time on Jameis….

  112. webster Says:

    Troll. I smell troll.

we’ll see if licht whips out the big guns tomorrow…..but as it stands now, we’ve brought a knife to a gun fight…..

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!!

  114. JimmyJack Says:

Blake…..I deal mostly in opinion here and I appreciate you trying to convince me how your hopes and rooting intrest are facts but unfortuenly your hopes and dreams would be deemed inadmissible.

My testimony has come straight from the Sports Dictionary and been presented as unquestioned fact.

I do realize it hurts to be considered a bandwagon fan. My purpose of of revealing this truth was not intended to hurt feelings. It was intended to let other know that it is wrong to condem a diehard fan for rooting for his team.

Each fan base has all their different fans. Diehards, hardcore, fringfans and bandwagoneer. No classification is better then the other and we should not squabble. We need different fans. It’s what makes the world go round.

  115. JimmyJack Says:

813…..I’m guessing Poe and Gaines to be our moves. They will do something at RB too I just have no idea where.

I’m also going to hope for a bandaid fix at DE like
Peppers but doubtful that happens. We need to sign some pro level players there. Just a very thin market. Think that will be enough talent, especially if we land Chubb in the draft.

  116. AlteredEgo Says:

webster…sniff this….(@)….I’ll say what I want about the state of the Bucs….been here since day 1…seen 250 +- games live…

  117. AlteredEgo Says:

JJ….I want to sign the best center and OG available tomorrow…then focus on defense and RB in the draft….

  118. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    YimmyYack.

Understand that you have hurt no feelings. Understand that I am no bandwagon fan despite your facetious insisting. Understand that we gained absolutely nothing from winning that game. And understand that we would be better off with a higher draft pick and a guaranteed shot at a top tier talent at position’s of need.

  119. JimmyJack Says:

Altered….I like the idea of drafting a guard. Nelson could be great and I’ve been hearing a lot of guards that could be avialable round 2.

Marpet should be our C IMO. And I am one of the few that likes Sweezy still at RG. Depth is a problem for me if we lose both Phampile and Evan Smith.

    That’s my armchair GM plan

  120. JimmyJack Says:

Blake I was not insulting. It’s not facetious. You may look it up for yourself. Sorry but you may not simply change definition to suit your argument.

At the end of the day you may protest all you like. But the common realization will always be had and will always be true……You rooted against our team. You rooted for us to lose. However you will like to justify it will never change the fact that you rooted for another team to beat us.

I only said bandwagon because that’s your classification because you rooted for another team. I did not insult. It was not meant to be an insult. If you read my posts on here you will see I have had many debates on here(this not being one since it’s fact not opinion) and very rarely resort to insulting.

I think you take exception to being called a bandwagon fan because of the bad association of that label being put on fans who change allegiance quite often. I agree that you reason for rooting for another team is not as bad as the typical bandwagon fan. Maybe there needs to be another classification in the Sports Dictionary. As for now bandwagon is the only name that apples.

  121. 813bucboi Says:

    jimmyjack

you think gaines, poe and a few mid tier FA’s are good enough to get us to the playoffs?……I don’t….adding them and a few mid level FA’s will have us at 7-9 imo……I hope im wrong tho…..

I hope we can land Sheldon Richardson, Wilkerson, kony ealy, ej gaines and carlos hyde…..that would ease my nerves a lot……

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!!

  122. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

Dude, idk wtf “the Sports Dictionary” you are referencing is. I’ve never heard of it, and upon googling it, it doesn’t exist.

So are either trying to be facetious, or you’re just outright dumb.

Either way, rooting for my team to tank so that they can ultimately get better does not constitute being a bandwagon fan.

  123. Buc4life Says:

Gotta build through draft…true difference makers aren’t cut loose that often

  124. JimmyJack Says:

813….I don’t think it’s about talent as much as most fans do. I think the leadership on this roster needs to step up and get more vocal.

We saw how they waited 6 months to get on Bakers Case…..That’s not good enough. Winston is a fiery guy……I appreciate his family mentality approach but there is nothing wrong with family members having an argument. This Oline played like crap in a few game protecting Winston. He needs to let them hear it.

Our leaders were young guys coming into last season. So I’ll give them a break. But now they are entering their 5th,4th,3rd seasons. They need to kick it up a notch.

As bad as we were last year we had a chance to make some noise when we starting playing our division(Carolina at home). After losing that we still had a chance to salvage the season at New Orleans…….Those two games were two of the most heartless efforts I’ve seen. We played with no intensity or urgency and the season was basically on the line. We got physically dominated on both sides and deserved to get the crap kicked out of us……..I don’t care who we bring in for this team. We aren’t anywhere with that attitude we showed in those games.

We got blown out in those games…..And those two teams were not that much better then us. They just wanted it more and were motivated. We proved we could play on their level in the rematches when we had half of our defense out and played physical football like we gave a spit.

And no I’m not giving them any credit for that finish. We went 1-6?7 to finish. But if they think they are going to bring in talent and have it play next to somebody going half speed it will never work.

I havent even delved into the diffencies of coaching yet. Hahahahaha
